>India is planning to revive the long-delayed deal with South Korea for the K30 Biho (Flying Tiger) Self-Propelled Air Defence Gun-Missile System to urgently strengthen protection against drones, low-flying aircraft, and loitering munitions.

>The K30 Biho was originally selected in 2018 after outperforming Russian systems like the Tunguska-M1 and Pantsir in trials.

>The deal (for around 104 systems) was stalled due to India's push for indigenous solutions, but development of a fully local system (based on platforms like Abhay or Zorawar) is still years away.

>Revival talks are now underway, with possibilities of a hybrid approach — combining the Korean chassis with Indian radars and missiles (such as DRDO’s VSHORADS) and local manufacturing involving Larsen & Toubro.

>Hanwha Aerospace (the manufacturer) has offered up to 80% indigenization by the 50th unit.

>The system’s electro-optical tracking makes it effective in electronic warfare environments and suitable for counter-drone roles.

>It shares compatibility with India’s existing K9 Vajra howitzers, which would simplify training, logistics, and maintenance.

>Russia is still competing with upgraded Pantsir-S1M and Tunguska offers.

>The revival is driven by the pressing operational need for a proven, ready-to-deploy system while indigenous options mature. The estimated value of the deal was around $2.6 billion.

Have Indians had enough with the performances of Russian weapons? Why are they selecting this over Pantsir?

So it at least locked on targets and maybe even fired a few shots or even missiles.
Anyways, I'd like to get a Korean bi ho myself.

>104 systems

shouldn't an army as large as India's buy 10x that number?

These people willingly jump in front of trains to make funny vids of themselves, it's probably better to keep them away from tracked vehicles.

I wonder how much equipment India, Iran, North Korea and Belarus actually have transferred to Russia. Indian T90s woulnd up being destoyed while used by Russian forces. The Indias have masked arms transfers by sending equipment to Russia for upgrades which winds up in Ukraine. Same for decomissioning T72s and Grads from India. m Kim appears to have sent his entire legacy artilley and heavy mortar reserve there about 40% of his inventory and ammunition, probably because he feels he has magic nukes. Iran probably did the same with a lot of their artillery reserve because they had shaheeds, belarus probably 40% of more of their roster is gone to Russia.

India has been playing a double game also supplying artillery ammunition to Ukraine but that just masks the fact that from the start of the invasion and prior they have been involved in it up to their necks.

Grim. An entire race that knows they're that reviled.

>Be Indian MoD
>The K30 Biho outperforms competitors
>Waste time trying in vain to develop an indigenous design
>Eventually choose the K30 Biho
>Decide to change the very systems that made the Biho outperform competitors
Do the Indians actually think if they just slap Indian systems on it the performance will remain the same?

>Pantsir-S1M

Unfortunately the Pantsir is superior when it comes to the missiles, which much longer range
