>japan has lifted its export ban >no threads What japshit are you going to buy?
Prolly none since they'll no doubt be extremely expensive. The Type 89 was costing them like $2k per back in the early 2000s. I can't imagine what the new rifle would cost as an import.
>>65117567Now I can finally acquire my bucket list Japanese gun. A blued howa 1500 in 308
>>65117567What the fuck do they even make that’s worth a shit? OP is a polesmoking faggot as per usual.
Howa Type 64. Honestly like the look of the thing.

>>65117591I’d rather talk about this than Ukraine slop thread #637285. >>65117567>>65117594Type 64, if possible. I already emailed howa USA if they’re getting surplus or parts kits that have been “civilianized”
>>65117591Look at it this way, they have a very active airsoft and replica gun industry because people like guns but cannot have them. The people making them love guns, those same people could now making real guns. Japanese made Glocks, 1911s, revolvers, rifles and shotguns (they already do a good job of these) etc.
>>651175866.5 sneedmore isn’t good enough for you?
>>65117600>howa USAI didn't know we had a Howa USA. Still, if SNT Motiv and Pindad weren't able to set up here yet, Japan will probably take a while.
>>65117567>japan has lifted is export banWhen? All I can find is them easing export restrictions on their equivalent of Patriot missiles to sell them to the US Government, not small arms for US citizens.
>>65117605>they have a very active airsoft and replica gun industry because people like guns but cannot have themIs there a realistic chance of civilian gun ownership ever happening in japland?
>>65117640 A week ago. They lifted the ban on “all lethal weapons.”
>>65117667You can own guns now, you just need a hunting license. Which in grorious nippon means being an actual hunter who has been in training since birth. There’s a pretty active boar and bear hunting scene.
>>65117567lifting the ban is so they can sell military equipment to other militaries, right? if so, we're not getting anything cool. I can dream though.
>>65117667if bears keep eating people and hogs get even more populated, i could see a resurgence in hunting & more lax views on guns to be on par with europe i don't see a real "self-defense" culture coming back since they stigmatized it thoughcomp shooting is weird there, so maybe that could get a bigger following with the younger generations and all, since they allow non-hunting guns in it
RIP
>lift export ban>tank explodes during demonstrationlollmao
>>65117804Legacy isn't even capable of taking a parts kit and rebuilding it, they direct import fully assembled rifles. For a time they slapped completed actions on stocks and also sold just barreled actions, but Brownells was able to take over for them there.Howa would need to do what the Yugo's did or get with Century or asimilar to make it happen
>>65117600Why is everyone who makes dumb low quality threads in this board insists on going I'D RATHER THIS THAN MORE UKRAINE, years after it stopped being fucking relevant? We have Iran slop now. Why did Ukraine threads buckbroke this particular subspecies of faggot in particular.
>>65117567They lifted their ban on exporting/selling military munitions. They can sell jap made cruise missiles to foreign governments, they are not selling type 64 parts kits or building semi auto export clones like FN or HK. They will likely keep crunching old rifles like the french do.
>>65117600Had a chance to handle a Type 64 back when I was at Misawa in the early 90's. NEAT rifle. I'd love to own one, but I doubt we'll ever see one imported affordably to the U.S..
>>65117830Seethe, ukrop. >>65117817They own howausa. They are the first point of contact for howa rifles.
>>65117830probably because ukraine social media personnel flooded this board for years and directly caused the second sticky
>>65117667People have always been able to own guns in Japan. Civilian gun ownership is 100% possible. Even a foreigner who lives in Japan can get a shotgun license. Granted you need to be able to read and write in Japanese which is something that a lot of foreigners can not do. Its 90% shotguns only though, after you've had a shotgun for 10 years you are able to apply to own a rifle. You can own a shotgun for the sole purpose of target/clay pigeon shooting if you want. They are able to own semi auto shotguns right away after jumping through all the initial hoops, and even semi auto centerfire rifles (if you get the license after 10 years). Technically you can own a pistol , but there are only 50 licenses nationwide and they are for Olympic target shooters, and in this case, you can not take the pistol home with you, it must stay at the range. So we may as well say that pistol ownership is defacto banned.
>>65117567>japshitExcuse me. It's "jap crap."
>>65117567I know Brazil is already trying to license the Mitsubishi Type 10 design and Japan may export used Type 74 units to the Philippines.
>>65117667No.Remember this is the country that had (and still has) literal sword control laws.
>>65117996Bruh, you literally can own shotguns and rifles in Japan, even as a foreigner. They can own semi auto centerfire rifles that people in the UK cant, which is weird but funny.
>>65117830Vely implessive!
>>65118002high trust high compliance society
>>65118041The dream ;_;
>>65117667Japan banned pistols, but anyone can get a hunting license and then get a shotgun. After some requirements the hunters can apply for a rifle.

>>65117567SCAL-R
>>65117912no they didn't, it was the same russoid shills we've had since 2014 and never left. Only the 4+ years of humilliation rituals have made them go away and be replaced by other browns cheerleading for Iran.
>>65117912how are you so new that you think there wasn't a second sticky until ukraine
>>65117680They have a long way to go anon. I watched a video of them “training” to deal with their bear problem. It’s pretty grim.
Can I buy one of their alien tanks then?
>>65117567>Asahi also reported that Japan will still restrict exporting weapons to countries where fighting is currently taking place, but exemptions are allowed under “special circumstances” where Japan’s national security needs are taken into account.Nothingburger. We're not getting jap guns here. It's so they can build warships for other countries and stuff.
>>65117667Fuck no. The cops are very happy with the current situation. Half of them don't carry guns at all, and the ones who do carry lanyard-bound snubbies in .38 special. Only legitimate agents and qrfs carry semi-automatics or god forbid a rifle, and they like it that way. Violent deaths are rare enough that the cops can afford to absolutely hound criminals until they get a suspect, and with the Yakuza getting fucking destroyed in the 2010s by basic banking restrictions, justification for self-defense has sunk even lower.
i just want used jap snubs and their uzis.
>>65117567They are very unlikely to export civilian firearms that they aren't already exporting. That being mostly Miroku and Howa.I reckon this change signals a willingness to enter the international military arms market. It is a big component of wheeling/dealing with other countries in terms of both politics and economics. S Korea has been a huge player in this space lately and Japan probably wants to participate. They were previously barred from doing so due to their constitution because shit like that also allowed their nationalist government to drag the country into WW2.>>65117586Not much stopping you now, they are very affordable.>>65117678Yeah pretty much. They are probably getting ready for China to start shit with Taiwan, which they are very close with.>>65117817LSI is really not in the tactical AR space. If anything happens with old Type 64s it would probably be Century Arms or somebody like that, but Japan would probably sooner dump them in the ocean or export them as military aid.>>65118410Those snubbies would be cool, but probably also a case where they'd probably sooner end up in the sea. They wouldn't meet 1968 GCA import restrictions either way. You don't want to know how they import Taurus/Rossi snubbies.
>>65118446I want to how the sasuage is snipped
>>65117667Lul fuck no. They're too busy licking boot and underreporting violent crime in an attempt to be a "harmonious" society, so they'll happily comply with whatever restrictions are foisted upon them.

>>65118194bear problem or furry problem?
>>65118455they're not underreporting immigrant crime which is the only significant one"They're totally killing eachother like crazy they just don't report it" is the same brand of cope from the UN saying Japan is a country of rapists because they have nasty hentai while they have members like fucking India in their midst.
>>65117912>ukraine directly caused the second stickyGee, you don't think there was something else which happened that day?
>>65117621I'm not hunting fucking T Rex anon
>>65117667They just need a referendum on gun ownership. That's the democratic way
Japanese gun manufacturing?
>>65118194Don't they just have black bears albeit more aggressive ones because they never experienced what happens when everyone in the backwoods has a gun?
I'd be tempted to buy a factory semiauto Type 89/20 were they to ever export them, but like that'll ever happen. Even with the will and blessing from corporate and whatever agency oversees exports I doubt they would see any real profits on selling to Europe/U.S. considering manufacturing is getting expensive there and you will have shipping and tariffs levied upon importation. Mediocre guns that would compete against a litany of better priced and higher quality weapons in a contested market with the sole differentiator of catering to weeaboos wouldn't work too well I image.
Uh oh did the chinksect get angry?
>>65117567Oh shit, for real? Man, this might be good, it'd be cool to see some modern military style sporters from there too.Maybe also some old Nambu revolvers as police surplus.>>65117591Winchester (FN) outsources some rifle production to Miroku in Japan, and they are high quality.>>65117667Probably pretty low that the laws will change, especially after Shinzo got whacked. As it is now, you can own shotguns on a hunting license (there's even some guy in Japan who owns a Franchi SPAS-12), but the laws on this are extremely strict. For instance, if you have a relative who has a criminal record, you might be denied a license on those grounds alone.>>65117677Yep. It's not big, but it's very much there.
>>65118774Even police needed a special license to hunt the bears and were given like 5 rounds of ammo or something

>>65117987>Japan may export used Type 74 units to the Philippines.vro that news is like 2 years old now, I doubt it's happening
>>65118593Not as much of a negative impact as allowing nogunz slavs and slav-adjacent types to shit up the place for as long as they have. >>65117804RIP indeed.
Howa was a meme in the 2010's but I'm sure there are better rifles out there now.
>>65118446>HowaHave you considered though that I only want a Type 64 and everything else can fuck off?
>>65119402Well, I hope your dream comes true but you should probably buy a lottery ticket first because winning the jackpot on that is much more likely.
>>65117567Probably none because Howa Type 20s are already really pricey and would be even more insanely pricey if imported here and also all the parts kits we'd get for their older guns, while possibly pretty cool, would also be pretty pricey as well. Now, if Japan wanted to sell at cost or below it in order to boost its own domestic firearms industry then I could see myself getting a type 20 for funs
