OK, realistically what is the bare minimum for woods cryptid or sasquatch defense? I've started carrying my 1911 to walk my dog at night instead of my P365 I usually carry because weird shit keeps happening around my house and 9 rounds of .45 feels better than 11 rds 9mm for squatch defense if that's what Im dealing with. Last night was the most recent odd event, something big was moving around in the bushes outside my house and my dog started barking like crazy, I didnt get a visual. If it was human it didn't respond when I asked it hello? Sounded deer size or larger which isn't unusual but something has also been regularly raiding my trash for chicken bones the past few weeks.
Previous events:
>Piercing loud scream from the pond past the trees, heard from inside my house with gf, was worth calling the police over but no followup
>Inexplicably loud and disorienting handsaw-like noises from the woods
>Rapid knocking along the outside wall of my house
>Deer bones out near the trees
>Orbs of light that scatter when seen
>Dog freaking out and darting toward brush noises in the dark against his lead
I'll be moving soon but to Indian reservation territory which sounds like it'd probably be even scarier according to gf. Anyone else deal with weird shit in the trees?
>>
Depends on whether or not you believe Sasquatch is a super natural entity. In native folklore he’s pretty much invincible, but yet again that was against like arrows and flint tomahawks. If he’s just flesh and blood then .45 could probably do it, but I’d feel better with 10mm or .357 magnum if you live in a state that restricts magazine capacity. Bigfoot is the size of a bear, but unlike a bear who charges at you on all fours, he stands up like a person so his organs are a lot less protected by fat and bone and bullets don’t need to go as deep. If he is supernatural then I’d read up on repellents such as talismans and yellow light. Only wear natural colors and if you smell copper or roses loudly announce that you have the right to walk there. If you want to try and make peace with Bigfoot you can leave out tobacco, although it should pipe tobacco instead of cigarettes.

>loudly announce that you have the right to walk there
But you don't

I have no idea what to believe, I'm some fraction of Cherokee and Croaton but never had strong ancestral ties due to multiple generations of estranged family. Gf is half Cherokee and related to family witches or shamans but has been separated from them for a while because they're all crazy. We dont have anything bigger than coyotes and cougars out here so I've never been uncomfortable carrying 9mm until the weird gradual squatch? intrusion. Could be fairies or something for all I know, Im pretty clueless.

>>Orbs of light that scatter when seen

Which color did these orbs have?
>>
>>65120090
They looked white to me but they ran fast like cockroaches so hard to be exact
>>
>>65119701
Why the pipe tobacco?
>>
>>65120323
Nta but a lot of fey like tobacco in folklore. There's also an account of someone getting captured by a family of bigfoots and escaping after getting the granddad foot sick on tobacco to the point he couldn't prevent him leaving
>>
>>65120323
All supernatural beings love tobacco. I typically use the thin Clint Eastwood cigars.

Enchanted melee weapons and an Aztec death whistle.

you can easily take the common north American bigfoot with .35 Whelan, probably overkill for Florida skunk apes but if doing an overseas yeti trip I'd go for 458 Lott.
For Mothman I recommend 16 gauge
Wendigos I'd say 7.62x39/30-30/.360 buckbreaker somewhere in there should do it
Van Meter Monster: 460 weatherby mag
Swampy lizardmen:12 gauge
The Restless Dead: NATO/Warsaw pact standard works
Strigoi: super soaker full of Holy Water, 10mm at backup
Dogmen: 30-30 or up
Old World Lycanthrope: 45-70
Congolese Giant Spider: 505 Gibbs or up
The Loveland Frog: .22 mag should do it, alternatively capture with tendies for further study
The Dover Demon: 204 ruger
Goatmen: 7.62x39/300BLK or up
El Chupacabra, 22 mag, 22 hornet something like that, varmint cartridges work here
Skinwalkers: Flamethrower
Spook Lights: Consult Priest

Sounds of large cat. I’d leave it be. It’s a little concerning if it’s hanging around. I’d suggest setting up a camera. I would watch smaller stature creatures carefully. I’d have your wife also be careful. Might be a good job for thermal, but good luck getting a visual. You don’t go out looking. You wait. I’d go larger like a shotgun. I normally don’t like recommending the dispatch of large cats.

Yeah don't kill sasquatch's cat otherwise he might go John Wick on you

>and an Aztec death whistle.

Mesoamerican history anon here, these didn't exist.

Like, yes, there were skull shaped Aztec whistles, but there's not really any evidence of their use of battle (we have sources which describe soldiers "whistling" but these seem to be vocal whistles, not using whistle devices, though in some cases the wording is ambiguous), and the evidence of the whistles making screaming sounds is also spotty at best.

Technically if you want to contrive it, you could argue that they existed as they are often described online, but that "aztec death whistle, made screaming noises for intimidation in battle" ideal is, as far as I know with one potential source that claims otherwise, seems to be purely the result of online urban-myth mongering

Suggestions for mokele mbembe?
>>65120790
I have a cougar that gets spotted literally 1 mile away every couple years and it's common to hear coyotes at night. Don't have the finances for thermals or any exotic handguns as a recent college graduate and moving and I dont want to draw attention by carrying my shotgun or rifles around neighbors because that isnt common here and I run into them on occasion. I've got a couple .380s, a few 9mms, one 5.7, and my 1911 for pistols. Unfortunately my only pistol light flies off my pistol rails or doesnt fit other models or my holsters. PSA Dagger might be a good contender for carry over the 1911 since it has a Holosun and shoulder holster but Im very comfortable with the 1911.

any suitably large African Dangerous game will do
furthermore:
Pale Crawlers: 47-70 hardcast although you can go as low as 30-40 krag
The Jersey Devil: 6.5 Sneedmore or 357 if at close ranges out of a carbine
The Flatwoods Monster: 460 Weatherby, solid light projectile loads
The Grafton Monster:50 BMG SLAP rnds
The Beast of Bray Road:Possible dogman-Old World Lycanthrope Hybrid, 458 Lott, something solid and heavy my fear is hybrid vigour is in play here
Mummies (Egyptian): 12 Gauge
Mummies (Mezoamerican) 16/20/28 gauge
The Ozark Howler: 7mm-08, but something heavier and necked up on a 308 or 30-06 parent case works, otherwise 300 win mag will do
trust me, i have spent much time strategizing the ideal weaponry and calibers for hunting the repulsive things that lurk in the darkness

>Iron

Put up Horsehoes inside and out. Wear something with iron, necklace, ring, whatever (test shungite too, EMF disrupter). Iron's got a reputation for repelling things going back a long time. And if you want active delousing, leave a Spark Gap Generator live for a while; supposedly is nails on a chalkboard, 'erases' locally bounded 'things' (ghosts, for instance). A pocket bible wouldn't hurt either.

If you take Missing 411 recommendations at face value, telling 3rd parties your itinerary, having map & compass, and a caliber 357 magnum or larger radically decreases the odds of bullshit happening. If extra paranoid, have a plastic bag of dirt in your pocket at all times.

And lock the trash bins, or have them lit at night. Maybe get a second dog, "2 is 1, 1 is none" a breed with a good nose, or herd guardian.

This is a stupid thread because cryptids don't really exist and you don't need to worry about defending yourself against them since they're not real
>>
>>65121091
>This is a stupid thread because cryptids don't really exist and you don't need to worry about defending yourself against them since they're not real

They are not real since they are not physical entities but they are real as in they exist. They can manifest themselves in different physical forms. The reason I asked about the color of the orbs spotted is that their general alignment is revealed by their color. Red or redder or infrared is bad, if they are green, blue or white they are benign. There should be orbs that also radiate in ultraviolet.

The guy at skinwalker ranch was a mormon and a total moron since he was dealing with blue orbs which should pose no problems at all. Since he was a christian his mind was closed and he could not handle them and their pranks freaked him out.

If he had been a good neighbour none of that would have happened and these blue orbs would also keep skinwalkers and worse things away. He was apparently dealing with dogmen. These speak english and have a positive attitude towards humans. Some of them are dogwomen too. They are not actually dogmen but wolfmen. I would suggest propitating them with flowerly smells and offering them food during annual celebrations. Instead he shot them (utterly useless against an entity that wears bodies like we wear clothes) and was a general asshole.

They can hear you just fine even if they are present in an invisible form.

I used to just carry a hunting knife while i was out fishing or innawoods but that changed when I was followed by something. Thinking about it now to write this is making my hair stand up.
>Years ago I was out on a leisurely walk in a wooded trail, enjoying a gloomy autumn day
>went out a little too far and the sun was setting
>lightly raining but still enjoyable walk
>on my way back i start hearing some strange yelling coming from deeper in the woods
>its pretty far away and i cant figure out what they are saying
>its kind of strange so i sit there listening and trying to figure out what they are saying
>somehow its getting closer and more clear
>its saying come back in a hoarse voice
>sounds like they have been yelling it all day and their voice is breaking
>over and over again
>everything goes completely silent as soon as i realize what it was saying
>my hair starts to stand on end and i feel like i should leave
>continue toward the trailhead where i am parked
>it is getting closer to me and i feel an intense urge to run
>i pick up the pace, its a little over a mile to my car and its damn near complete darkness, it was near a new moon
>it keeps yelling come back in its inhuman voice
>its getting even closer
>call my wife as im running back
>tell her im being chased and she can even hear it over the phone
>finally make it to my car and its completely black outside
>jump in car and aim headlights down the trail
>nothing
>the sound of the woods returns and leave immediately after I confirm that it wasnt still after me
Cont.
>>
>>65121393
>get home and talk to wife about what happened
>time passes and i avoid that particular area for the most part
>now carry a 357 when im out
>probably should have been doing that in the first place because we have black bears
>years later
>i now live on a couple of acres in the middle of nowhere about 15 minutes away from that encounter
>taking my dog out at night
>its sometime in november so its kind of cold outside
>its absolutely silent and my dog is acting very frightened
>kind of strange since she is usually really confident
>hear a strange yell way out in the fields and woods behind the property
> its hoarse and it keeps yelling the same thing
>a strange maaaaa noise
>It sounds just like the voice from a few years ago
>call dog back and put her inside
>warn wife of the noise and grab 44 revolver
>step outside and listen
>i hear it again
>walk out to the back corner of my property, edge of a field
>flashlight in one hand magnum in the other
>it sounds like its across the field in the woods
>the maaaa sound is coming from different spots like it is traveling through the woods parallel to my property
>realize this was really stupid to be outside like this
>head back inside and try to sleep
>next day i check my trail cameras
>they didnt record properly
>the audio is heavily distorted and the video didnt pick anything up
>i have not heard it again yet
>although sometimes something knocks on my windows and doors at night
Whenever i am outside in the woods or on the property i carry a 357. When its dark i have a 44 or a 30-30 just in case. Wife and i call it maa and joke about it returning to spook each other.

There is also this $20 thing called a camera that can be both online or offline. Just saying.

With that said, skinwalkers aren't real, please stop perpetuating stereotypes. If they were real, they would just be misunderstood. Put the sage away.

Ive been wanting to get a camera system in place but it doesnt seem that feasible now given Im moving. My Mexican friend had a whole perimeter system tied to a dedicated monitor above his TV and it was pretty awesome, could see everything outside. Also still smudging and you're not welcome inside my home.
>>
>>65121819
An eastern cougar? Ive heard people say they exist but there isnt much in the way of proof.
Im not saying it is impossible but it sure didnt sound like any animal i have heard before. Once it had gotten closer to me its "come back" was quite clear. A fox or coyote or bear or bobcat wouldnt have made that kind of noise.
>>
>>65119642
Larry Vickers said 10mm is the minimum for Sasquatch. Dogman too.
>>
>>65121856
Look up Wyze cameras, they are like $20 and you can view them on your phone and set up is 5 mins. Wouldn't put them inside the house or anywhere where I wouldn't want others watching the cameras, but even with weak-security cameras, that's a relatively low risk and somebody would need to be targeting you. Still, definitely not a fan of cheap wifi cameras inside house.

With all of that said, I don't understand why you would say something like this, it's cold out here, could we just talk inside the foyer? Basic hospitality from one human to another...human.

>>65121876

It's been asked multiple times before, and the answer is always the same; 458 socom AR-15.

It depends what you expect to encounter
A sasquatch is a lot like a grizzly bear except it usually just leaves instead of sperging out or forgetting youre there like bears sometimes do so anything that shoots 12g slugs is fine. You can get away with something smaller but you're probably using a shotgun if you're out there anyways so why not pack some slugs
Werewolves are a bit trickier because shooting them usually just makes them mad. They usually get right back up if you don't finish them so if you put one down, put an extra bullet in its brain. They say silver puts them down quick but I don't think that's necessary when buckshot works just as well
Skinwalkers you can put down with any pistol you've got kicking around. Their thing is ambushing so they're pretty sneaky and it's rare one will straight up attack. Usually they just want to scare you away but if you have to fight one, pretty much anything will do. I clobbered one with a shovel once and he got the message and fucked off, but he still kept at the usual skinwalker tricks for the rest of the trip. They're more annoying than anything else
>>
>>65119642
I'm pretty sure you've got a skinwalker. A sasquatch doesn't do that kind of mickey mouse shit trying to scare you. Your 1911 is fine but don't trust the dog to alert because it'll sneak right up behind you and the dog won't have a clue
