>>
can you not get tisas 1911s anymore? They're sold out everywhere and I was about to get one.
>>
>>65120358
Tisas has broken it's relationship with SDS, over complaints of them pricing them too low versus the quality of the guns. Tisas is still importing 1911/2011s under MAC, which has 2 1911s and a few 2011 models. The new Tisas USA (?) 1911s will be 75 - 150+ dollars more than previously.

They now have made TFB host Kaya their new CEO.

He's kind of a brown James Reeves
>>
Do any of you pocket carry? I have a snub nosed but I'm worried it will be too heavy for pocket carry and I should get an air weight instead.
>>
>>65120368
No, I'm actually very against it but I understand people have different needs.
>>
>>65120358
tisas split with their importer https://youtu.be/SonRC8B7cEg

its going to be months before it comes back probably more expensive
>>
>>65120376
still worth it to wait or do I go RI/Citadel for a cheap 1911?
>>
>>65120368
All the time
It's so easy to carry and nobody notices unless your gun pops out
>>
>>65120379
What do you mean they're out of stock everywhere?
https://www.gunbroker.com/handguns/search?keywords=tisas%201911&pagesize=24&sort=4&buynowonly=1&condition=1

They're here. Just not at the prices people are used to seeing them at. PSA is still doing their 330 dollar 1911A1 deal.
>>
>>65120351
>Crying about optic mounts when optics weren't a thing when the Gen 3 and USP were new
>Crying about 15 round mag capacity when that was the standard back in the day and Glock kind of made 17 rounds popular
Also the USP is better in .40 or .45 anyway, 9mm is kind of pointless unless you want to save cash or streamline your calibers
>>
>>65120379
depends why you want it.
if its solely based on price buy whats available while its available.
if you wanted a specific tisas model for whatever reason wait for it to restock.
>>
>>65120375
do you feel differently if someone has a holster specifically for pocket carry?
>>
>>65120413
I already have a lot of handguns and I only have room for a few more, like a CZ-75B, P10c, or a Colt Python
>>
>>65120412
Yes, I'm sick of larpers who will tell you that pocket carrying a revolver is superior to X, Y, and Z because of how easy it is, how you can shoot through your pocket (something they never ever practiced), or whatever. I saw some brazillian communist post some meme about how it's superior and it's firmly cemented how stupid it is to me and it's for larping faggots.

Having a pocket holster is a big help, with and without is miles of difference. I know since I've done it. Maintaining alignment of the gun in your pocket is good, it helps actually drawing the gun, something I suspect many proponents of pocket carry never actually practiced. It also breaks the silhouette of the gun too.

>I don't want belt clips
Enigma or Concealment labs, I have an enigma and like it alot but I think the concealment labs system could be better.
https://www.phlsterholsters.com/phlster-enigma
https://concealmentlabs.com/concealment-liner
Since the concealment labs system would be more easily compatible with holsters, you can swap holsters way easier, and tweak your set up even more.
>I don't want to seem like a tryhard carrying a glock 19 and a spare mag so I'm going to carry this 5 shot revolver I barely practice with
Are you taking your life seriously? We're talking about self defense here. If pocket carry is what you need, then do it, but do it smart and practice actually drawing. Get a shot timer and practice draws at home like Travis Bickle in the big 26. Having a gun > not having one, I've shoved handguns into my jacket pocket before to run a quick errand since I didn't have the <1 MINUTE it would take me to go get my engima rig and put it on.

What pistol mag pouches do you guys prefer? I bought pic related but it doesn't feel the most secure, and one of my coworkers using it has had a mag pop out when tousling with someone. I was thinking of just getting a hardshell style one, but I want to know what you guys would recommend.
Just bought the angled Esstac ones to try out but still curious about other options.

yeah, if you appendix carried a revolver it would be infinitely better than pocket carrying it since you have a faster and more consistent draw. You could get some laser cartridges and practice shooting from concealment, retention (hip firing as soon as you come out of the holster), etc. Or wax bullets with the Cowboy Fastdraw kit.

I don't actually own any full sized semi auto handguns, and I've got an extra check this month.

I got a 92x with ltt trigger job, 95 import p228 with short reset kit, and a gen3 g19.

I second this guy. Looked and it turns out I can get some decent deals on PDP directly from Walther... no idea why but I can. Been thinking about jumping on the Glock train but a PDP would be cheaper. $1079 for PDP full size Pro with ACRO or $475 for a standard full size or compact. Not to hijack this guy but for the PDP people what's a solid model for a guy who finally wants to take training serious? Until today I thought a gen 6 G19 COA was the best option but.... PDP got me thinking.

Don't sweat it, we started out slow too. If you want to minmax your development to speedy gonzales, focus on three things:
>Practise getting a sight picture consistently and reliably regardless of position. Leans, crouches, around obstacles, through low ports etc
>Practise arriving to shooting positions, bringing your gun on target before you're done moving. Saves a TON of time if you have your sights on target before you take the last two steps because you can just squeeze a round off as soon as the target's fully visible.
>Practise switching between targets. You'll want to be off the first target and on your way to the second before your muzzle has time to come down from the recoil. If two targets are next to one another, you should be able to get off all four shots without slowing down between the second and third.

>>65121146
Before you do anything, make sure to inspect the gun for any QC issues. Ever since Beretta moved its US factory from Maryland to Tennessee, build quality has dropped off significantly.

As a way to cut costs, newer 92s ship with really cheap feeling plastic triggers, safety levers, and magazine catches. Replace the plastic parts with steel parts that you can get from the Beretta store.

NTA but I have yet to see major Beretta USA QC issues other than them just not making their budget end models to a lesser grade than they used to be made to. I've got an M9 and while the slide to frame fitment isn't perfect, it's fine. I've also got a 92XI and it's excellent despite only costing like 100-200 more ostensibly than a base model M9.

On the side of the plastic parts, ya they sorta suck, but really it's just the plastic trigger that sucks imo. Get a metal trigger bow and swap it out and everything else is fine. I guess if the plastic guide rod breaks then replace it with a metal one but whatever, I have never met anyone who actually had that happen to them ever

I'm going to seethe here for a minute. Walther discontinued the q4 sf. I bought it because it was still on their website and seemed to be a premiere firearm for them. Currently, parts are barely available other than custom made barrels and some parts from the q5. I love the gun, I don't like the pdp. I spent two years registering my q4 on my carry permit (nyc fag). How can walther not support this firearm long term? It was positioned as a carry ready ppq in steel. It has the best trigger of all firearms I have owned. I'm so disappointed that it's basicly an obsolete very expensive gun. Once it breaks it will just be over. What do I do. Go through the paperwork of selling it for a pdp sf compact? Idk. I'm seething.

I'm trying to decide on my new EDC. I typically appendix carry a Taurus 605. It has never had any issues, but it gets cumbersome after awhile. Sometimes causing lower back pain(I'm old not fat). Lately when I go out alone or to safer rural areas with my family, I'll pocket carry my NAA mini .22wmr. I love the lighter weight and want something comparable that's not single action.

P32. 6.9oz
NAA guardian 15.6 oz
Ruger lcr 13.5
Walther ppk 19oz

The Keltec or an air weight revolver are the top two contenders atm.
I'm also open to other suggestions in that weight range for either pocket(with holster) or appendix carry.
>>
>>65120805
So there are two issues with PDP as far as I'm concerned
1 Its slide is thicker than 9mm glock and more in line with 45/10mm glocks, if you want to carry iwb, PDP is mediocre
2 I don't really feel that way myself, but people who press trigger very fast have been saying that it's snappy, has more felt recoil, so it will shoot slower
Everything else about PDP is absolutely top tier.

Yeah but the pdp and the ppq before it while they have "compact" models, are basicly full sized service guns. They are not competing with the Glock 19 crowd. For reference I am the guy who posted above seething about the q4 sf being discontinued.

Walters are, in my opinion, some of the best firearms available on the market and are aesthetically pleasing and functional. The triggers on the ppq/q4q5/pdp are some of the best available straight from the factory. My issue with the pdp is more personal on how they took the steel frame, discontinued the ppq variant, and reused all the same parts for the pdp.

So what, so I just buy a pdp f cause it's the smallest one?
>>
>>65121751
I dont own a 43x and I am not really sold on it.
I mean 15 rounds on what essentially is a M&P Shield Plus is neat, but I have that and a Glock 26, and a P365, in terms of micro 9s.

I think about buying one of last black diamonds every day. I probably won't and I'll regret it 10 years later.
>so I just buy a pdp f cause it's the smallest one
Not really, I don't have one and didn't measure slide with a caliper, but from what I've seen, they just have a thinner grip for women and size S handed men.
>>
>>65120805
the people that really like pdps are giant >6'2" chuds and letting smallerfolk use it they really seem to find it punishing even with a modded guide rod. It is personally my favorite of the modern strikerslop stuff though, just make sure you get 2023 production or onward because they redid the optic mount
t. giant chud pdpfag
>>
>>65121755
pdp f is much more carryable but if youre using it for something other than a ccw (though if youre tall and lean carrying a regular pdp is very much still possible especially during winter) id go for one of the full size models and just use the smaller included backstrap
>>
>>65121745
I have a Bodyguard 2.0 non-comp version. 11.6 oz. I pocket carry it in a Sticky Holster SM-2. I wear normal jeans and it's not slipping out of the holster. The design of the sticky holster is thinner at the bottom so the grip appears thicker in your pants which annoys me a little bit. I was going to look at different kydex holsters to see if they're more uniform.
>>
>>65121776
yeah like, im suprised walther discontinued the q4 and the q5. recently they have discontinued the ppks and pps, the ppq and the p99.

im shocked. like, these are what walther has built its bones on. and its not so much the discontinuing but the lack of support they will offer longterm for these firearms.

>build steel ppq that people buy because it will last 100 years as opposed to polymer slop
>discontinue it after 5 years

uh ok

thought, it does seem like the steel frame pdp compact is basicly the same firearm as the q4 sf...

It's an unfortunate reality that the vast majority of guns will be discontinued and parts will dry up. The only guns mostly immune are ones with a huge extensive aftermarket. Glocks (which is good as they no longer support a lot of models) and 19/2011s are some of the only guns where you are not at the mercy of one or two companies. Just gotta buy a spare one or two of your carry like I did.

>>65122085
There is when it costs almost as much as brass case. The only reason to debase your gun with steel case you can't reload (i.e. 100% value lost) is if it's significantly cheaper.
>>
>>65122107
If you don't reload anyway, why bother with brass

>t. extractor manufacturer

>>
>>65122116
I literally just told you why. Just because you leave brass on the ground for someone else doesn't mean it's valueless. You don't have to reload to sell it. Brass is also kinder to barrels, it doesn't physically wear chambers and it wicks heat where steel does not. You will literally never see a competitor using steel case for this reason.

You literally cannot win this argument. You are a retard. Just admit you are a retard and keep buying steel knowing that 3 cents per round is not at all worth the sacrifices, nobody actually cares what you do or shoot but acting like a fool on the internet serves no purpose. You didn't find a loophole, you're not smarter than people who buy the cheapest brass ammo they can find.

So I shot my 2011 alongside the glock I bought when they announced they're discounting Gen 5. And honestly I'm just sort of not impressed with my Staccato C2. Any downside with the glock can be fixed with aftermarket parts.

>muh ergonomics
Go apply some form of stippling or talon grips or whatever the fuck. They offer versions for 2011s anyway.
>but the sights
I like my Trijicon fiber optic better than the Dawson precision they ship the staccato with.
>the trigger blows
Yeah and I'm gonna fix that with a tac trigger in the mail.

Maybe it's just me but I don't get all the hype. I would understand versions that are steel framed like the P and the XC for target shooting to get as much performance out of the handgun. But for carry and just like learning to shoot the pistol and compact size aluminum frame seems like a waste. I'd honestly rather just buy a CZ compact at that point. Just my take as a plebian who shoots like 3-4 times a year.

Literally no one uses sights as an argument between 2011s and Glocks. You can put fucking any sights on fucking any gun.

Ergonomics on a Glock cannot be altered in any meaningful way unless you start cutting off and thermal welding new pieces of plastic to the frame. You cannot turn a Glock into a 2011 grip or vice versa. No, the Platypus and other Glock mag using 2011s do not have Glock grips.

There is no aftermarket trigger for a Glock that gets anywhere close to even the shittiest 2011. Not even close. Not the same planet. A Timney or Performance trigger fundamentally changes how a Glock trigger works but it still doesn't fuck with the break, reset length or reset force of a shitty 2011. That ebay bullshit trigger you bought doesn't even do what Timney and Glock Performance triggers do. It's literally cosmetic. You just wasted money and are gloating about it.

Honestly I've probably typed all this for a troll who hasn't even shot a 2011 because the comparison is laughable, even with a super lightweight compact 2011 like the one you mention. With a full size steel 2011 there is no comparison. Different worlds.

So what was Ruger's train of thought with this marketing campaign? Was it out of touch old farts who didn't think it was racist because they grew up when saying negro was considered the overly PC version of nigger? Cocky c-suite who were having a laugh and didn't it mattered because they didn't think blacks bought their guns anyway? Blissfully ignorant boomers who weren't told any different by their workers and tacitly egged on by their token black hires who thought it'd be hilarious if it went to press and blew up in their face?

Huh, could've sworn it was but I think you may be right. Google analytics doesn't have much of an uptick in "hard r" until 2010 (with two notable spikes in Dec '07 and Nov/Dec '09), and Urban Dictionary doesn't have an entry with the modern definition until 2011. I can definitely see the old fudds at Ruger not knowing any better until it blew up in their face.

rubbing alcohol didn't really do much, adhesive is really baked on from years of use. I might try goo gone next.

I pocket carry my taurus 650 and ppks, both which weigh i think 19 ounces unloaded, so they're not light. But I don't feel the weight at all in my pocket. Pocket carry has some disadvantages, but a lot of advantages as well. Sure it's slower to draw, but in sketchy places like a downtown orlando gas station at 2 am, you can casually have your hand on your gun and the groids will never know. It's also extremely comfortable. Even though I usually appendix carry my ppks, or sometimes even my 92fs, sometimes it's nice to actually be able to bend my waist, and pocket carry never inhibits my movement.
