So we'll be seeing tens of thousands of these right? Spread out to protect all the important infrastructure? Surely it's not yet another propaganda piece that will be forgotten in a week. It's orders of magnitude better than it was before in USSR and early 90s once they've a) stopped trying to do everything themselves and b) decided that enough is enough and started using different suppliers, even if they had to import the parts. But the whole LCV line is a product of the market economy transformation of the 90s for them, since Volga's stopped bringing in profits and they quickly identified an empty niche in the local market and whipped up something for it.

To poke the public with if they get too close to air defence positions.
It's not unreasonable really, Ukies surely have all sorts of spies running around and the conscripts won't just shoot random babushkas so a sharp point to keep people back is more practical.

The combination of crudely constructed vehicles and underdeveloped boy soldiers resembles the final stages of a war.

Huh, for some reason I thought GAZelle was out of production.
Some of them use a puccia made version of the old Chrysler Neon engine, doubtlessly acquired around the same time they bought the entire line for the Stratus/Sebring, to be sold as the Volga Siber.
Small world
>>
>>65123928
Maybe the fully enclosed ones are no longer in production? They had a ton of stuff happen, to the point of making new generations of those shitboxes and even buying some defunct British (?) LCV maker to upgrade their shit. Generally GAZ was way more sane about long-term future since mid 2000s, which included the whole Volga Siber project and so on, they were unlucky that they've finally made it when the 2008 economy shitfest happened. This killed any potential success it could have had. AFAIK they've planned to launch it earlier, but had issues with making the US machinery setup and such.
P.S: the Chrysler inline 4 engines from Mexico were initially acquired as an option for both Gazelle vans and classic Volga cars as a way to hedge the bets against their domestic engine supplier (the ZMZ company), which made shit and wanted to increase prices too often with no improvements to the actual engines. The retards at ZMZ thought that they had GAZ by the balls and they were bluffing about using foreign engines, but they were wrong. Those Chrysler engines made the GAZ shitboxes like 5-10x more reliable lmao, to the point that a Gazelle would usually rust away before the engine would go bad.

Is right. You're thinking of LDV.
Brief, odd little van company stitched up from BL and DAF leftovers, and maybe a few odds and ends more.
Gaz bought them and ran it as a subsidiary for a bit then shut it down to chuck it all to the Chinese in '09 save what they found choice.

Pic rel, is that a fucking converted UAZ in the back there? Hilarious that they know how shit it looks as they didn't include it in any of the other images. Now I NEED to see that shitbox in its full converted glory.
>>
>>65123992
Looks like there's another loaf almost entirely off-screen too.
Coinflip on if this is an intended variant from the start they didn't think would look good in a propaganda shoot or a "fuck fuck we don't have enough of the actual van to meet the deadline" situation they very much do not want to draw attention to.
>>

>>65124558
Somebody here said that a good rule of thumb for ziggers showing mil gear is that if they include it in a photo, that is all they actually have. This seems to support that so I'm going that they didn't actually have enough of these GAZ vans. Fuckin' comedy show as always.
>>
>>65124621
It's not that they don't have enough vans - these shitboxes are in fact in production and available in open market. The issue is that almost everything done in russia is done for PR, propaganda and image reasons. Nobody cares about actual result as long as things look good on paper. This is the cornerstone of how pretty much everything worked in the USSR.

So, coming back to this situation, here you're seeing some retard getting an order to "settle the issue of protecting stuff from drones", so the retard does the following: allocates some funds to buy a handful of vans, gets some conscripts, gets a number of machine guns and some chink-tier drone detector devices and then does a photo op of all this, which can then be published in media and attached to the report that "measures were taken". Nobody cares that this squad can probably "protect" just a single refinery, if at all (training? what training lmao).
>>
>>65124644
You're probably right, but with how proud these retards are of their smekalka, I'd just expect them to just use the loafs for the job and then brag about how practical and genius it is. It's mostly the same thing anyways.
>>
Where have all the ZPU gone?
>>
>>65124658
>>65121677
It could be supply poverty but I'm going to guess it's either needing it + ammunition to be lighter than the larger MGs or worry over stray bullets.
Both of which would be non issues if this entire situation was less crashingly ghetto
>>
>>65121330
Whats with the writing on the windscreen? You can see it on the other images also
>>65123583
>>
>>65124684
Looks like just numbers
>>
>>65124684
Seems to be just numbers, probably an at attempting to keep an inventory of them. Why the fuck write it on the windows is a mystery, but as has been established many times, these are grade A retards we're talking about so a log book is probably lost tech for them.

Though they may also just be from the manufacturing, think car manufacturers usually write that stuff on windows as it's easy the most noticeable and easy to remove spot.
