Is Ranger School still relevant in 2026?
>>
>>65126134
It is if you're an infantry officer who wants a good command.
>>
>>65126134
Yeah it teaches you how to destroy enemy robots

the real question is how tf do you actually fight these things
>>

Nah, just join the Marines it's literally the same thing.
>>
>>65126212
Design and its method of attack is underwhelming
>>

It was overwhelming to the characters in the film. What do you actually mean?
>>
>>65126183
Ranger school != RASP
>>
>>65126212
Since the guns are on the bottom and the weakpoint is on the top, it stands to reason that they are vulnerable to top attacks.
>>
>>65126435
RASP is mandatory to join the Rangers, while Ranger school is necessary for squad leaders within the Rangers.

how to I get proper military training without signing my life away or fighting for isn'treal
>>
>>65127278
Join the military, do the training, and then when you get to your unit just tell them you're suicidal.
>>
>>65127278
I'm sure there are plenty of vets running "real deal" big boy summer camps that will teach you "real operator techniques"
>>
>>65126134
It is if you're Option 40 and trying out for Regiment, or are an Infantry OIC and need to learn all the Level 10, 20, and 30 shit you didn't learn at ROTC or BOLC.

For everybody else? See above. Army does need an actual, quality, Soldier skills assessment class, as well as a Leadership assessment course. We have EIB, ESB, and EMB, why can't we have the same thing for fucking soldier skills?

Okay, great. What are IBOLC and RASP for then?
>it's meant to make students experts at small unit tactics
But the POI hasn't changed in years, while SUT continues to evolve. Are the TTPs taught at Ranger School practical on battlefields that are saturated with persistent ISR out to 60km from the FLOT?

ITT pimple-faced diabetic parasites arguing about a tab they have zero idea about what it means, what it takes, or why it's relevant.

>>
>>65128287
>RASP
Assessment and selection to join the 75th Ranger Regiment
>IBOLC
Leading a squad 101
>Ranger School
Leadership school and small unit tactics school, more advanced than the IBOLC. Formally unrelated to Rangers, but they will bully you into attending it
>>
>>65126134
Well they let girls in now, and the course has been changed to allow said girls to pass. So fuck no.
>>
>>65126134
They still have a better track record than the SEALs, even with women in it.

>>
How come Army infantry officers are expected to have a tab, but USMC infantry officers do just fine without it? What does USMC infantry officer training do that IBOLC doesn't?
If a tab is required to be a squad leader or above in Regiment, what is the purpose of RASP II?
>>
>>65130575
Marines define themselves entirely as being better than the Army. To admit the Army has better standards than them would be an anathema.
>>
>>65130575
>what is the purpose of RASP II?

To teach the basics of being a leader in the 75th. Ranger School is just a prerequisite to that.
>>
>>65130575
Marines have their own infantry leadership course. It used to be really hard. Around 50% failure rate. They relaxed the training to allow women to pass. Less ruck marches and such.
>>
>>65133354
Same thing happened with Army Special Forces selection. They removed a bunch of events so women could pass.
>>
>>65127278
Go to college for engineering and befriend a professor, not compsci of course. A lot of these old coots are vets and have useful skills and interesting careers.

>If a tab is required to be a squad leader
Team leaders need to be tabbed out too, not just squad leader and above. It's different for the non-infantry dudes in regiment, though, as we had some medics and supply guys that didn't have tabs and were still made sergeants.

I don't think that expression means what you think it means.
>>
>>65126134
I've heard you basically need the tab to be promoted, and the joke is that getting one is basically just a lottery since most officers qualify so they have to randomly select who passes to maintain the quota and keep their aura of eliteness.

are you going to answer the question in the OP or just call people fags?
how are the tactics taught in Ranger School relevant in 2026? would a tab be valuable for someone going to a hotly contested LSCO environment saturated with persistent ISR and loitering munitions?

First, I've not called anyone a "fag", I called them a faggot. Faggot.

Second, ranger school will always be relevant because it's a leadership school, not just a "tactics school". It focuses on small unit leaders, and teaches them how to plan for, and lead, infantry combat patrols. It shows the students what happens when you fail to plan, fail to resource, and fail to allow for rest and rations for your men. It does so at every level from team leader to platoon leader, and it gives officers, NCO's, and enlisted men the opportunity to serve in every leadership position in a rifle platoon. When graduates return to their units, they are much more competent and capable of serving in leadership positions within their infantry platoons, and as leaders in their support positions.

Sadly, the leftist scum that has infiltrated American society have watered down the course to accommodate bitches, so it's not what it once was, however, it wouldn't take much to bring it back in line with the way it was in the past. The stress the course uses has constantly changed over the years, for example when my father went through in the 60's they didn't use starvation, but when my peers and I did in the 80's and early 90's, they used starvation as a stressor. One MRE a day during patrols in the summer, and 2 a day in winter. They changed that in the mid 90's though and went to 2 meals a day year round, they also mandated sleep periods of like 5 hours a day. The students today probably have it much easier then students before, and that's because they want to lower the standards for women. In the future, that might change, and I hope it does.

The course is, and will always remain relevant for the leadership skills it teaches and allows the students to practice in a realistic and stressful environment.

Most infantry officers straight out of IBOLC are capable of passing the RPA. Some get arbitrary fails on the fitness test so that they can control class sizes. Infantry officers have the highest pass rate of any Army MOS going through the program because the IBOLC POI teaches a lot of the same things that ranger school does. If you are an infantry officer with no tab, you probably won't get a platoon to lead or ever make major.
>>
>>65126134
I'll tell you next year if it is. Hitting Sniper next summer then Ranger after. Still keep getting my Air Assault spot stolen by cadots though.

Dont know about military training but one of my coworkers at the gun range i work at used to kind of be in police training of some sort. I dont know the specifics and he never became a cop but he talks about doing all sort of combat training with sim rounds. He also said he got to do training on empty school campuses for shooter drills. Said it felt very weird to be allowed to have a rifle on a school campus. Look into something like that if you wanna do cool training.

As an Infantryman, if some mechanic or aviation dude came up to me and started spitting his acronyms at me I'd have no fucking idea what he was talking about. We all just kind of latch on to a handful of ones applicable to our jobs and stick with that
