Details are scarce, but apparently Primorsk in the Leningrad Oblast area got hit last night. Hits are being reported on vital port infrastructure, a patrol boat, shadow fleet tanker and a Karakurt class corvette. And apparently two shadow fleet tankers near Novorossiysk in the Black Sea were struck as well

There is also a video going around from one of the strikes on one of the Black Sea shadow fleet tankers

Curious that this happens just after the vatniks were beating their chests over sailing tankers through the English channel unmolested.

The insurance being the ship owners won't have their fleet confiscated by the government and their assess sent to some Siberian shit hole gulag or getting a window trip for unpatriotic actions during wartime. When you're an authoritarian mafia state you can easily strong arm the private sector to get them to do what you want, laws be damned.

>>
>>65127763
The ships are generally owned (through a series of shell companies) by Russian comapnies/oligarchs.
Their 'insurance' is basically a handwritten note with 'Dude trust me' on it handed to them by an 'insurer' in some BRICS shithole, also owned by Russia through shell companies.

The crew are also Russians, especially the officers.

These ships are literally Russian ships flying flags of opportunity to dodge inspections, fees and all forms of liability.

Pointed out that it's high in the water, so it's not loaded with cargo, but the direct hit to, and flooding of the engine room, plus damage to the prop and rudder have irreparably fucked it.

>Can't the ship owner simply sail over to the US
Not the USA. Because Trump removed political oppression as an excuse for asylum and are deporting all russian soldiers en masse back to Russia. And they're doing it with direct flights to ensure none try to escape to some other country if they had a stop-over.

like, how many briefings can you sit through where the news is "we lost 16 tanks, 400 infantry, 3 choppers and a destroyer" before you eventually just get exhausted and shut the game off

losing is so fucking boring

The RN is so short on functional ships that the russian convoy was chased by a RN supply ship yelling "Oi! You there! Do you have loicense for channel passage? Staph!" on the radio.

>>
>>65126871
Ignoring the Bongs helped the USA seize several tankers already, the issue isn't the navy, but the cost. Ireland is holding a captured tanker and it is costing then thousands upon thousands per week to hold something that they don't get any benefit from. There isn't actually any real desire, politically, from anybody capturing shadow fleet tankers because if you follow all the proper laws and shit, you just end up with a headache and cost and a berth being held by a tanker you can't do shit with and crew you got to process.

>Take land

>Nobody who wanted that land wants it back now
Karelia is the same. Also the money it'd cost to make Kaliningrad EU law worthy is insane (same as Karelia).

Russia and Russians don't mind living in shit. It's why they're happy they're taking shelled out, XO filled, fibre cable covered shitholes in Ukraine. Most normal people in the West would consider that disgusting, but to a Russian it is status quo, we are of stronk ))))
>>

>>65131133
Since 2023, the MV Matthew, which was carrying huge amounts of cocaine has been sitting in a berth in Ireland. It has cost €157m just to have it sit there.

So, yes. It is a lot of money.

Take the oil and sell, then use the funds as collatoral for the costs of holding and processing. When the funds run out, sell the hull and hold the cash with the other frozen Russian funds until the war ends and they finish paying repatriations to the Ukraine for war damages.
>>
>>65128357
Probably better to sink an empty oiler to avoid big ecological damage.
>>
>>65131324
Mostly, doesn't really make much difference in the end if the oil can't get onto the ships as well as preventing transportation. Any of those big hits up the ass on those oil tankers pretty much means game over for those as there's nothing around that region with the docks and heavy left gear to fix a fucked prop, missing rudder and blasted engine room. Sort of why those big transports of the Black Sea navy sat at Sevastopol for like 2 years before they got blasted again- no one can fix them
