7.62x39 is selling for more than 57cpr on ammoseek.com
At this point, its cheaper to shoot an AK in 300AAC or 5.56 than the intended caliber.
Imagine for a moment that AKs were not gay and retarded.
ATF niggers can tongue my anus but this new ruling allows parts kits, ammo, and milsurp into the country from about 7 countries.
The question is: is it enough?
Does Uzbekistan make enough 7.62x39 that they'll want to sell it to Americans, or will Ukrainian exported war AKs increase demand for slavammo enough to drive price competition?
>>
For reference, these are the countries ammo is banned from: https://regulations.atf.gov/447-52/2022-08026#447-52-b-1-ii-K

AK ammo is still coming in from Armenia and turkey. Even if Russian sanctions were lifted, they wouldn't be flooding in since most of the ammo is still going to Russian troops in Ukraine. High prices are here to stay for a good while.
>>
This doesn't affect the prices you pay, it just makes it easier for the cronies to launder russian money before it goes into republican super PACs and social media stars
>>
>>65134240
>they wouldn't be flooding in since most of the ammo is still going to Russian troops in Ukraine
The oligarchs sold off most surp in the early 2000s, in volume. 5.45x39 was at $80/spam can. This was stolen ammo and the commie.gov had nothing to do with it. Those days are over forever, period.
>>
>>65134220
Buying ammo from Georgia or Moldova would do nothing to benefit Russia

Oh piss off back to plebbit, commie. I just want to be able to go out innawoods with my SKS again.
>>
if you aren't handloading at this point and instead depending on fucking foreign imported ammo to be able to afford to shoot, you are definitely NGMI.
>>
>>65134281
>handloading 7.62x39
This should not be necessary with such a mass-produced caliber.
>>
>>65134289
7.62x39mm is a relic round. That's the reality. It's like looking at 30 carbine circa 1980 and complaining it shouldn't be so expensive since it's used in the most prolific rifle in the world.

Time has moved on. Even Africans are transitioning to SCHV rifles. That's where 7.62 Soviet is at right now.
>>
>>65134199
Yes, but it's going to take time, the components pipeline needs to be shaken out as China and Russia provide the chemical bases for primers which needs to be fudged, and so long as hostilities in Ukraine continue, all newly manufactured ammo will be shipped to the front line as the shipping costs are lower than what it costs to ship to the US, and Russia/Ukraine are willing to pay much more than the American consumer will. Components for cartridges are also going straight into making artillery shells, to boot.

Might be worth buying the dip and packing away an AK in the hopes that in 5 years you can afford to shoot it.
>>
>>65134220
>Ukraine - patronizing and vindictive. Always asking for handouts and turning into spiteful goblins when we say no like one time
>Russia - wants to sell me cheap ammo so I can go back to having fun
I'm gonna be real with you dawg, if buying cheap ammo means supporting Russia than I support Russia. No Russian ever jewed me on ammo before
>>
>>65134305
>>65134289
.30 Carbine was never that prolific.

7.62x39mm is going to be loaded and produced on Mars.

Handloading it is a bitch though. AKs and SKS both mangle brass on occasion. Its not as bad as a CETME or G3 mangles brass but you are looking at 10% attrition at every range day which lets cost build up. Projectiles are all over the place too and you don't have any easy tricks to get cheap boolits.
>>
Yeah, it was with that realization that that's probably not gonna change that I gave up on owning an AK for quite a long time.
If I can't shoot x39 from it, it doesn't feel like a "real" AK.
>>
how hard is it to set up a company to produce ammo yourself
>>
>>65134344
When you don’t have the state to set up and support that factory for 50 years, pretty fucking difficult.
>>
>>65134199
Are you guys really not shooting the cheap brass case Belom ammo that’s been imported? My AK has been eating the best it ever has lately really.
>>
>>65134274
Have you considered getting a job so you can afford an actual gun that you can buy ammo for instead of doing this cargo cult dance hoping the post-USSR gravy train will come back? Commies aren't a thing anymore but if they were you should be more supportive of them since all you want is free giebs
>>
>>65134331
>.30 Carbine was never that prolific
It was literally the most produced rifle in the world by the end of WW2.

By what measure would it not be considered prolific?

7.62 Soviet won't die ever but it's status as a common round is absolutely fading. That's per Seller & Bellot and other manufacturers seeing the actual numbers. Even Russia is abandoning it and pushing 5.45.
>>
>>65134258
Pleaee kill yourself post haste
>>
>>65134220
There's a non zero chance any ammo you buy would otherwise go into the hands of the Russian invaders.
>>
>>65134344
one of the biggest holdups in the USA, and a big reason why imported ammo is so attractive is that lead processing is a fucking nightmare to deal with.
The EPA especially wants to throw your pants around your wrists to start raping you for polluting.
But who cares about lead factories in moldova giving people the shakes and running the rivers orange?
All lead for ammo in the USA is made from recycled lead, which means that you shouldn't throw your car batteries into the ocean, instead you should sell them to ammo recycling companies or cast it yourself.
>>
Now that it's over, what new upper receiver do I attach to my AR to convert it out of 7.62x39 so I can come back? Suppose 5.56 is ruled out.

I'm currently building an AK in 300AAC so I think you should use that caliber.
It's not too different from 7.62x39 and it's ~40ish CPR online, plus it's fun to shoot suppressed.

>It's not too different from 7.62x39 and it's ~40ish CPR online, plus it's fun to shoot suppressed.
I can see the logic here. This is really a question between getting a 6.5 Grendel to practice long range plinking or staying the suppressed route and swapping to .300 like you say. I heard that .458 SOCOM is good too but they say it's more expensive, guess now is a good time to price check everything

This video is naming a lot of big ideas. I don't really need night vision goggles because I'm a hermit that doesn't go out at night. The dip sauce attachment is intriguing- but heavily favors low recoil calibers. It looked like sauce slapped him across the face. This is not desirable, especially at public ranges. He's also shooting a fast cyclic rate but that's not really what I'm looking for either. If anything, I would use a bolt action receiver on an AR first.

Overall: very interesting ideas but very particular. Other anons may be interested though so it's a good share.
>>
>>65134885
I think 6.5 grendel is a super cool round but it's so expensive that id rather save it for hunting instead of goofing around.
>>
>>65134899
That upper can be used on an AR and can take those duramag x39 ar mags as shown in a different part of the video.
>>
>>65134901
Noted! I thought the prices on that ammo would be much more competitive by now, but it seems not. :|

>>65134904
Oh I see. I already have the x39 upper for an AR, I'm looking to switch out of it. The FRT + roller is a cool concept but at the ranges I go to it would draw too much attention. I'd have a lot of people querying whether there's something illegal going on.
>>
>>65134914
In that case pick up a psa upper when they put them on sale.

Calling it 7.62 Soviet confirms old man status. This anon has seen many years go by and has seen the very trend he is predicting. Its sad to see though, as 7.62x39 is a fun round.

The only people who call AKs gay and retarded are underage newguns salty they missed out on good imports. But yeah as long as they can maintain roughly 50cpr for 7.62x39 I’ll be happy.

That's retarded. I don't enjoy dropping a dollar every other shot. All I want is cheap steelcase 223 again. I should stacked deep when it was 18cpr but I took it for granted
>>
>>65136728
No, 7.62 Russian refers to 7.62x54r, 7.62 Tokarev refers to 7.62x25, and 7.62 Soviet refers to 7.62x39. These are boomer nicknames from back when these calibers were uncommon on our marketplace.
