Is it true that there is some special coating on 5.7 cases that makes them un reloadable or is that just cope cuz boomers hate reloading tiny bottlenecks? I see a lot of discussion in both directions but im inclined to believe the people against the coating, since there are tons of high pressure tiny rounds that reload just fine.

Factory loaded 5.7mm has a thin Teflon coating to aid extraction due to being straight walled and not having a rim like revolver cartridges. It needs to be like that in order to double stack sideways in a 50rd magazine. But because the coating is damaged when the cartridge is fired when you reload you get really inconsistent ammunition where it won't have enough still there and you get constant failure to extract malfunctions.

Interesting, so guess a quick spritz of PTFE dry lube into a pile of reloads should help.

Is this your photo? If so, have you tried the tandemkross +5 baseplates? An entire box of ammunition split between the two included magazines sounds nice, but it is a bit difficult to find anything regarding their reliability.

There's some back and forth about this topic on various reloading forums, but it seems that on the whole DIY solutions like that don't work very consistently.

I always forget that I am a proud owner of a Five-seveN Mk1
I like the gun but ammo just makes it not really worth it when I can get a lot more .22, 9mm, and even .40 or .45

Fuck off back to whatever Ito manga you crawled out off.

I've been thinking about getting a PS90 in FDE because my Five SeveN is also in FDE...
I don't wanna have to do NFA paperwork shit to SBR it though even if it is free. I already have an SBR and can, i'm just lazy.

Expand your balls and get s4 or t7b

I'd buy that. Who makes it and what caliber?

Cool story, bro.

Ruger and 5.7x28mm, hence the thread.

Can I just get a can of teflon lube spray and spray on light coating?

You can just lube your cases with Teflon lubricant during reloading. You know, like you do for everything you reload. You do lube your ammo, don't you?

Wake me when there’s a modern gun chambered in it.

Again, people who try that still get intermittent extraction problems. You can't quite apply it the way the factory does it at home, plus there's the uneven remnants of the original coating.

Based. I replaced 9mm with 22lr revolver and a MRD. Couldn't be happier. Much more capable round.

Those are fun as hell with a conversion to carbine.
