>~$350>Fucks up your height over bore>looks retardedLEARN TO AIM NORMALLY YOU FUCKTARDSTALL ASS RISERS ARE FUCKING STUPID ON 90% OF GUNS FUCK
>>65136208Don't mount retarded shit on your gun then?
The AR-15 essentially needs risers because the straight stock (designed around prone shooting) is terribly unergonomic for standing shooting. This is because people's cheek bones are generally not at the same height as their shoulder pocket.Unfortunately, in the case of the AR-15 you also have a buffer tube system (making ergonomic stocks more difficult) and have a top rear charging handle (leaving no room for a proper cheek riser on the stock). You don't hate risers. Risers are fine. You hate the AR-15 and its terriblly unergonomic design.
>>65136208Fuck yamudda
>>65136208Me too, just us a carry handle you queers.
>>65136208>muh special threat III+ plate oughtta be fine against most tactical aroundszips thru your plate with pissin hot .243 from a concealed deer blind 400 yards away.
>>65136208So we’re back to this?>>65136472Yep. A friend dropped big money on a “Gordon Carbine” clone. Probably the most handy, comfortable, and one of the quietest ARs I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting. Maybe we do have to go back. As Michael Chrichton once put it, the internet will be the downfall of real actual human technical development because the world becomes an echo chamber where novel thought is drowned by trends.
>>65136208Picked up a Chinese copy off Amazon for like $50. Works good so far.i want to not like it but for this specific use case with a short handguard that you are worried about holding zero, it works great.
>>65136377yes technically every optic has "risers" already. This thread is about unnecessary risers
>>65136208I like it. It looks cooler than a normal riser and that's cool.
>>65136691so you're just going to ignore everything else he said in that post? fuck off you dishonest prick
>>65136729yeah im gonna ignore because it's fuckin dumb
>>65136745>anatomy and ergonomics are dumbwhy is /k/ so brown and third world now?
>>65136748>AR has bad ergoswhy is /k/ full of nogunz retards now
>>65136752Always has been.Honestly though it's pretty low-effort bait.OP (probably intentionally) failed to mention that the entire point of buying a hydra riser like he posted was to fit a T2 and an IR Laser/Illuminator on a gun that:>Doesn't have enough rail to fit both (like an MP5/SP5)>Would normally mount the optic too low to be easily usable with NVG'sBut because OP is either a dumb noguns or low-effort baitposter he has very little idea.
>>65136748You've been drinking too much juice coolaid.
>>65136752>now
>>65136377You could just... Move the stock up your shoulder pocket if you're a giraffe neck that can't use an AR-15 right. Which I doubt, as you'd have to be some kind of freak to not be able to comfortably use the rifle. Are you scared that the extremely punishing 5.56 recoil will hurt if you don't put the entire stock against your shoulder?
>>65136752It does and I'm tired of pretending otherwise. When the best defense of the t-charger is "you don't have to use it often due to the bolt release", it's not a good design. Yes the trigger, bolt release, and mag release are all stellar, easily best in class, but there are parts of it that just plain suck. A rifle with good ergonomics could be used comfortably without a functioning gas system, like the FAL (which is honestly the only good thing about the FAL, but that's a whole different conversation)
>>65136781at least in the past people talked about cheap ARs and SKSs. Now it's just war tourism
>>65136768just put it on a good rail and make sure it doesn't lose zero. The hydra riser is a gimmicky product made purely for profit. It's not that the AR is shit, it's that people are looking for solutions to non problems
>>65136785>you don't have to use it often due to the bolt releasethis is 100% valid
>>65136794>just put it on a good rail and make sure it doesn't lose zeroLike I said, that's presuming the rail is longer than ~3 inches. If you have an AR with a decent FF handguard and full-length rail (and if you don't, you are an unserious person) then all you really need is a normal 1.3" riser and your dot should clear over your IR device just fine while being comfy for passive aim with NVG's. The Hydra is a niche product that got marketed/memed into some weird status thing.
>>65136377None of this makes sense. Cheek risers do the opposite of what an optic riser does (they compensate for optics that are too high, not too low) and are mostly used on other guns to put the cheek weld right around the same height it is on a default AR. The real explanation is that risers are the result of military and law enforcement trends, it's become popular to put lasers, WMLs, etc. on the top rail so the optic needs to be raised to clear them, and it's also hard to get a normal cheek weld with helmets and NODs on, and it's been copied by larpers because that's what they always do.
Post guns or shut the fuck up
>>65136768No, the main point to existence was to give opr8rs a stable LAM mounting point since the sig rattler (a gun a lot of those types like) has a hanguard that can't hold zero. Yes, the hydra bullshit is partially sig's fault, like a good chunk of retarded memes from the last couple years
>>65136785The T-charger is pretty good until you want to put a can on your rifle or otherwise overgas the fuck out of it.It's up out of the way from the bolt release (which you use more often anyway) and (can be) made fully ambi if you pony up for upgrade parts.A modern AR-15 with an adjustable stock and M-Lok handguard is a lightweight, generally ergonomic rifle. If you have a problem with other shit like the bolt release or mag release it's probably because you're a left-handed heathen.
>>65136861>be left handed>hit mag release with right thumb >hit bolt release with left indexIts the same just mirrored. Anyone complaining has skill issues.
>>65136782>You could just... Move the stock up your shoulder pocket if you're a giraffe neck that can't use an AR-15 right.... Except then you entirely defeated the purpose of the AR-15 in general, which is supposedly a straight-line recoil system. The AR-15 is an ergonomic nightmare for standing shots (i.e. most of what people actually do), and that is a fact. The compromises of the buffer system, invented for the AR-10/308 Win, are pointless for a 5.56 gun, yet they were adopted anyway for whatever reason. Cheek risers for optics are pretty much the only way of coping with it.Here's what proper ergonomics looks like. It essentially isn't possible with the AR-15.
>>65137027>Micro prism with Mile high HOB>Stock so low you have to compensate for it with a retarded cheek riserYou have to be trolling.Meanwhile, in reality, people can and do hit 300+m A-zone shots, offhand, with irons and fixed stocks.
>>65137060>Micro prism with Mile high HOBWho cares. HOB is irrelevant, within reason.>Stock so low you have to compensate for it with a retarded cheek riserThis is how modular platforms work. We use modular components to cover deficiencies in other area. AR-15 users cannot do this, despite their claim to have a modular rifle. The buttstock is the entire reason for a rifle, so it should be made as ergonomic as possible.>people are still accurate with irons and fixed stocks! This isn't an argument about accuracy.
>>65136377>This is because people's cheek bones are generally not at the same height as their shoulder pocket.Yes, it's an anatomy thing, which makes it true for all rifles, not just the AR-15. You don't see risers everywhere on other guns because they just scrunch their neck and deal with it.
>>65136377Based. The AR-10 and variants therein are shit designs. Always have been, always will be, and we only pretend to like it because obama wanted to ban them and Biden neutered 7.62X39 imports in 2021.
>>65137152>You don't see risers everywhere on other guns because they just scrunch their neck and deal with it.Sure, that's what it is.
>>65140227I don't know what point you're trying to make, his neck is scrunched the same way someone using an AR would.
