Why did they use the long action for the M24?
Why tolerate this stupid compromise for 20+ years?
>>
Yep that totally causes serious performance issues
>>
It just works. What's the problem?
>>
>>65136774
But what if they want room for the cartridge to do some Tech Deck tricks on the way into the chamber? Is that so wrong?
>>
Realistically the short action cartridge was dumb, not the long action
>>
The Remington 700 is obsolete cope.
>>
>>65136973
Sure thing noguns
>>
>>65136973
idk why it caught on like it did. Absolute cheapest design ever.
Extractor is a little springy ring
Recoil lug is a big washer
lmao

>Why did they use the long action for the M24?
Why don't you ask them? Army has stated the answer to your question multiple times, and gun rag writers have propagated that answer far and wide.

It's reliable and shoots straight.

Hell he can probably even find the trials reports if he looked. That's how I have the M16A2 trials report. I don't think the fed tries to hide old information that's pretty inconsequential anyway

military r700s use a better extractor because they are based on the premium variants of the gun.
>>
>>65138437
No they don't. All 700s use the same exact C clip extractor.
>>
>>65136774
All you had to do was do a quick read of the wiki article. The M24 was meant to have interchangeable barrels with 300 winmag as part of its package
>>
*ahem*
FUCK the Mk22 and FUCK Barrett
*drops mic*
>>
>>65136774
Would have been better off with a TRG or an AI
>>
It was for easy conversion to .300 Win Mag.
>>
>>65138541
>>65141051
Why did they put off doing that for so long then?
>>
>>65141069
Must not have been a compelling need over 35 years ago
>>
>>65141069
They really didn't. SF had .300wm M24's well before the Mk13 and similar conversions
>>
>>65138513
The .338 Lapua chambered 700s use a sako style extractor. The bolt nose has to be opened up for the Lapua and doesn't leave enough meat to contain the internal style.

And the C-clip style extractor was a consequence of the safety breech that Remington was so fond of. A Sako style extractor creats a path for gas to escape in case of a major over pressure event where the internal C-clip style keeps the breach sealed.

Why don't you stop being a lazy, annoying and incompetent cunt and learn to fish, instead of wandering around feebly begging for everyone to give you some tails and heads?
