I have joined the club. Shot 150 through it right after I picked it up. The safety is terrible and I'll be getting the M9 one to replace it, SA trigger pull is astonishingly good. Did two rounds of dot torture, and it's a good thing 9mm is cheap because god damn do I need practice, I suck ass.

Gun with book because apparently that's how things work around here, this is the only Italian porn I have though.

Patriot.

I heavily recommend getting the stealth lever kit, as it will give you the low profile slide stop. Getting onto the gun at speed the low profile slide stop reduces the chances of you accidentally engaging it. It also contains a decocker kit, which you pair the right side of the stealth decocker with the safety of your choice to create a single sided safety.

If i'm reading it right Beretta only sells the low profile safety/decocker lever and langdon is out of their kits. So i'll grab one when they get back in stock. The slide catch does stick out an awful lot, I had wondered why it was quoted as being wider than my USP.

Pretty similar, I do prefer the flat face trigger though. The biggest improvement imo is the grip and grip texture. Also that you can mount any optic without having to buy plates, but we'll see how these do and if my optic stays on. I used the factory loctite so I'm asking for it.

What's the endgame of pistol shooting? Unless you have the desire and dedication for serious competition and spend your time shaving off thousands of a second, what's the plateau for the average Joe? Social media and 10 second videos of a guy ripping his best drill of the day have distorted realistic expectations for cold draws, so it's hard to get decent information.

Not yet, but soon. Not the model you think though. I guess I’m paranoid from all the over tightened thumbscrew light issues from various pistols. I prefer a single accessory slot. Makes A model surefires a breeze. I guess the p2000 might be a good model, but I’ve got my eyes set on a P9S. The hk4 would be cool too but the P9S incorporates most of what the hk4 offers but in 9mm and a better method of operation

Basically the ugly version of Elliot Rodger decides to culturally appropriate Beretta culture (our culture is not a costume) and makes observations about the 92 that people have known for a long time.
What he says:
>The 92 has less malfunctions that glocks in normal environments
>The 92 has slightly more or the same number of malfunctions as glocks in dusty/muddy environments
>The 92's aftermarket and accessories are decent, not bad enough for Glock's large aftermakrt to be a big deciding factor
>92's are not much more expensive than Glock, especially after the price of parts he would change out on his Glocks.
>92's have better triggers than glocks and shoot flatter due to their weight.

How do I find the motivation to go to the range? Nearest one to me is an indoor range that charges by the hour and is overpriced. Otherwise there are a couple of outdoor ranges that are owned by clubs and you need a membership. Then there is an outdoor range run by my state you need to buy a range pass for. But it shuts down around Thanksgiving for the winter and is often times closed when it rains because the range officers don't want to be in the rain. Given where I live we always have rain or it is getting ready to rain.

I wanted to start going to the range again to get into pistol bullseye shooting. But I went to the range last week or maybe the week before now and when they told me they were only doing hour times now I just shrugged my shoulders and walked out.
>>65142571
I haven't been to the range in three to four years now. Covid kinda killed it for me. Before that I would go to the range at least once a month, to maybe every other month. Also doesn't help I have nobody to go with. My Dad and brother both live kinda far away and in opposite directions. My brother it is like pulling teeth to get him to go to any activity. My Dad runs his own business and is pretty much always busy outside of winter. I have a friend that lives in my old town, but it is almost two hours away and he is addicted to just working and going out to bars afterward for like 5+ years now. I am really thinking firearms isn't the hobby for me anymore.

The 15 round magazine is what kills it for me. I'd wait to buy one used for like $900 tops, but the fact that it uses a proprietary mag with "poor" (by <current year> standards) round count is just one reason too many against it for me.
>>
>>65142660
Nigga, it’s identical to size with the Glock 19 which is also a 15 round mag.
>>
A few years ago I filled out a survey for what new products did I want Wilson Combat to make. Apparently a hammer fired Glock 19 won, and none of you NIGGERS want one
>>
>>65142673
That's why gun companies need to be upfront about how much a gun design may cost before they release a 1500 dollar gun that's supposed to compete with a 500 dollar gun.
>>
>>65142687
It competes in the luxury carry handgun market, versus staccatos (2.5k), Wilson’s own EDC9 (2.7k), misc 2011s, LTT 92/PX4, Shadow 2 carry, souped up Glocks etc
>>
>>65142698

I'm not aware of any bad manufacturers of tritium sights, the regulation is too overbearing to tolerate fly by nights. Just the cheapest version of the design you like and buy it

The only standout is Night Fission which has the brightest vials, everything else is the same. In fact most vials are made by Trijicon even from other brands

Old data in pic related, probably more have gone out of business or stopped local production to use Trij vials by now

>>65142553
That's tough. I don't think there's an answer from without, in my experience the motivation has to come from within. I've had periods of years where I just didn't want to go through the hassle. In the winter I hardly go. For me, I just get the bug, get that eureka moment of YES! I need to shoot that, gonna do it, and go do it

A new gun helps for awhile :)
A very good local range helps long term, one with few rules, few people, low fees and is nearby. It's a luxury many are not blessed with because of draconian regulation where libtards congregate

In the youtube video where they announced it they mention the P320's uncommanded discharge problem. So it's kind of a fudd thing (they are 1911 guys after all) and a market overcorrection where they care/boast about safety morow. It's neat as a peace of mind feature for holstering since the internal hammer means you can't thumb a hammer in place, but the fact that it's a hammer gun with a firing pin block already puts it miles ahead safetywise of the P320.

How does /k like the VP9? I’ve never shot one but I’ve fingered them at shops many times and it felt amazing in my hand. Fit my grip well and felt good to dry fire.
>>
>>65143005
The ergonomic grip is an illusionary benefit that doesn't do much for shootability but does wonders for moving units in stores. The trigger is fine, no complaints there. The spring is MASSIVELY oversprung making the pistol feel super snappy for no reason which really brings it down. I ended up selling mine after trying multiple times to make it work for me
>>
>>65143016
I agree ergonomics can be deceiving. I sit a friends Walther PPQ and the ergonomics were uncomfortable. But the VP9 felt much different. Though it may be different from hand to hand.

you can take the set screw out, but it’s probably going to move

Can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic but yeah, coolness and larp factor from popular movies is a factor in my decisions making process. Any generic Glock clone striker fired pistol over $500 will cover 99% of functionality requirements, so no need to split hairs and ridiculous prices.
>>
>>65143278
Tanfos aren’t Gucci guns by any stretch unless you get their competition pistols. If you’re getting a competition pistol, you aren’t asking here for advice. In that price bracket, they’re a solid choice. Their entry-level Gucci shit are the Xtremes followed by Master followed by actual Gucci Master Xtreme. It’s the CZ model of competition pricing (CZ 75 to Shadow to TS).

But, then again, that’s all competition marksmanship pistols. If you’re into that sort of thing, you aren’t asking here for advice as a general rule. I believe the only competitors in this thread that regularly compete are the Glock brigade in their own tournaments. Which is an option and is always fun.

No, I’m dead serious. If you aren’t really a hobbyist then you should just get whatever you think is the coolest because that’s what you’ll be happiest with. It’s like >>65143316 implied, once you get into this shit then your priorities change a great deal depending on what you value. I value accuracy above all else, so I like Tanfoglio because I shoot straighter with one than CZ (and got into all this because I thought CZ75s were cool and found Tanfoglio as a clone due to being in Texas and close to a distributor). I haven’t wanted to purchase another pistol since buying my Tanfoglio. There’s no need, but I only want to be accurate. I don’t want to LARP around and have a carry piece to take innawoods or have a truck gun. If I DID want to LARP around innawoods, I would get a Stock II because I know it’s highly accurate and can withstand stupid amounts of rounds being fired without failure over the course of a day coupled with being a fucking brick which I personally like. I’m not fond of polymer pistols and lightweight blasters, but that’s my personal shooting style.

But I don’t care about that, so I wouldn’t buy one. I don’t need it. If I buy something else, it’ll be some Gucci shit like a FK BRNO field pistol or Manurhin or meme custom 1911 because I think that’s cool.

Find out what type of competition you’re most interested in. Look at who is winning those competitions and see what they shoot. Finger fuck those guns at a gun shop and get what fits your mitts the best. You might not be able to finger fuck those exact guns, but you should be able to finger fuck a gun that has the same frame excepting tanfos because they’re too niche unless you get lucky.

Competition pistols can come from the factory with the competition parts, but they are also sold in abundance so don’t fret over the parts since if you’re serious about competition you’ll know the pistol inside and out and eventually figure out what to replace with what as you git gud.

The easiest way to get your foot in the door in competitive shooting is probably Steel Challenge. You only need a gun and a holster and some magazines, and some places might just let you shoot from gun-on-table and forego the holster. Some divisions also don't require holsters, such as the rimfire ones.

What gun to get depends on the division you intend to shoot, but you should just attend with whatever gun you have and shoot that division where it's legal. You're not going to be good enough at the start for gear to really matter. If you really care, though, I'd say the meta for Carry Optics (the largest division) is mostly Shadows/Glocks/XFive Legions, with a smattering of Walthers and maybe a Beretta. It varies by region, though.

If you don't want to only shoot Steel Challenge, most large shooting clubs will also have an intro to USPSA class every month or so, so just ask around for that. Your local club might have a profile up on Practiscore where the schedule should be posted.

Literally any gun, there is a lot of competitions and some not anal about rules other than safety.

Some guns are easier to shoot than others, but you might learn a lot more from shooting a carry or duty type gun versus a Staccato XC. At my local chill competition, it might have been my fault for creating a 2011 arms race where I beat people with my 1911 and my PX4 and now suddenly everyone is shooting compensated 2011s.
>>
>>65143403
Grim!
>>
>>65143406
Kinda depends. There’s a lot of cops around me and their departments all get Staccato deals. They just shoot their duty piece and do very well, but it’s not the XC. I believe they all have the HD. Some of them have tweaked it out.

Staccato is a scam of the highest order, though. They get the “thin blue line” and sheepdog types by selling quality guns for stupid cheap to police/sheriff’s departments and making up the difference selling to civilians at a hilarious markup. It’s 100% not worth it as a competition pistol since you can get objectively better performance for thousands less.
>>
>>65143210
They're two totally disparate guns. Almost could not be more different. Why not decide what type, weight, size and price of gun you want first and then which model?

2011s have the same problem with thick lube as a 1911 but even worse: if it’s thick it causes failures since the bits don’t play nice with each other but you don’t have the extra gas a .45 produces. It’s why “hand-fitted” became a thing amongst 1911 fans and why those pistols now cost an arm and a leg, the parts don’t play nice with each other at all unless they’re hand-fitted. Any off-the-shelf 2011 will have failures, if you use thick lube then those failure increase exponentially thanks to the cum lube being thick.

You have to actually think about how you lube those things rather than just blasting it with jizz.

Yeah winters are really hard here to go to the range. State I live in has no public land so it is kind of impossible to even o do that sadly.

There’s better firearms to get into on a fixed budget than pistols. /brg/ might be more your speed, depending on how fast and loose you like to play. Otherwise, the easiest way to get out of the house and involved in the community is to buy a glock and then go to glock tournaments. The rich boomers there might hook you up with a job.

Price is always relevant. One costs less and is made entirely of steel, the other costs even more and is made of plastic. But you are right in one way, they both have substandard triggers

Pick one that's cooler to you. I agreed 'no' earlier because neither is very cool to me and I virtually never desire to shoot mine

It’s less big and blocky than the RCR or the ACRO it replaced, it functionally has a bigger window than the ACRO, mounts lower than the RCR or ACRO, as low as an EPS really, but with a more robust mounting system. It’s so far the best mating of a dot to a slide to date.

>>65144007
yeah, moving and shooting. it was pretty fun tbqh. the range is secluded so no one was around to bitch at me. i still don't think i could get away with a Bill Drill but i was drawing and shooting pairs at sim speed. the rso's are cool with me doing those at least. very good day!

I actually really like grip safeties on 1911/2011s, you can hold the gun in a way to not depress the grip safety when holstering to prevent a ND even if the manual safety is off.
