If i ever get a super hard blade i will consider diamond stones, but other than that i prefer typical water soaking aluminum oxide whetstones like cerax and suehiro and yoshihiro. The diamond stones wear out quickly and dont give you a warning when they are finished they just gradually stop working over time. That is such an ugly concept imo. AlO whetstones tell you when they are kaput, bc when they are finished theres nothing there left. The layers underneath the top surface of a whetstone are exactly the same. Like sharks teeth. They stay consistent over time.

I just hate having to soak the whetstone in water.
>>

Don't care; he's still a a faggot. Can't stand that guy's channel. 20 minute videos with 20 seconds of information. That's if the whole thing isn't just a rehash about a previous topic he's covered 17 times before.

>RE: the actual thread topic

I've used and have been happy with suehiro stones, but just like >>65141557 I'm a whiny bitch about soaking them. I've considered switching systems just for the convenience, but alas, I've yet to pull the trigger on that.
>>
>>65141264
I would start by watching videos without come guy being like a cunt and posting his face over the subject

Shitty chinesium ones, maybe. Decent ones last for ages and withstand remarkable abuse.

>dont give you a warning when they are finished
Are you a newbie or something? You can simply feel it with your fingers, the shitty diamond stones have a poor bond between the grit and the steel plate, when the grit breaks off there's just the smooth steel left behind. You can feel this with your fingertips, assuming you don't notice the stone not cutting anymore.

What did he mean by this?

I've been using the same keychain DMT sharpener (that I bought at a thrift store for $0.50) on my various pocket knives since 2013 and the DMT bench stones I bought in 2015 for my woodworking tools and kitchen knives in 2015 are still working flawlessly.

So we have OP's nudes?

>>65141557
It takes only a few minutes to soak them bro.

Government hackers like to hack the webcams on ppls phones and computers so they can watch ppl and jack off.

Suehiros are good. They make cerax and yoshihiro soaking stones which are all very good.
>>
>>65141264
Ok, what are your opinions on Lansky Arkansas stones?
>>
You just reminded me I need to sharpen my kitchen knives. Thanks, jerk. I HATE SHARPENING KNIVES. It's probably just because I suck at it.
Do I need to dress my stone?

What's the cheapest place to buy aluminum whetstones?
>>
>>65141264
I bought the cheapie 400/1000 diamond plates on Amazon for like $20. I looked at it under a microscope and I could definitely see the diamond dust. There was a little card inside that basically said yeah there's going to be some cross-contamination and then gave you some instructions on how to clean it out.

I have really expensive whetstones that I've used in the past but I have to admit this diamond plate works extremely well, especially for just regular shit like pocket knives and kitchen knives.

I was using the pull through sharpeners out of laziness and they were absolutely destroying my knives. I cook 99% of meals at home, dull knives get annoying really fast.

Tried diamond sharpeners for the first time last year, it's like a world of difference, the knives just glide through everything effortlessly now. It's so goddamn nice. Kind of embarrassed I didn't do it sooner.

Cheap 150/400 grit diamond stone. King 300 grit splash stone. Simple as.

He's a fucking retard that's protected by a mod, which is why these faggy off topic sharpening threads are a regular thing now. If you must interact with him, just call him brown and sage his threads, which is more than he deserves really. Fuck him, fuck the jannies for doing this to 4chan, and fuck Hiro for his pay-to-bot bullshit.
>>
>>65141264
>use whatever sharpening stone
>finish with a leather strop
>sharp as fuck every time
All of this is ritual for autists. It has no meaning or value.
>>
I don't sharpen my kitchen knives at all and they still work fine.
>>
>>65145013
>All of this is ritual for autists. It has no meaning or value.
Well, that's the whole point. I certainly don't see any point in arguing about it like a spastic retard, though, sharp is sharp no matter how you get it there. I've been using a ceramic stone and I really like the finish it leaves, I just wish cleaning the steel out of it wasn't such a bitch.
>>
>>65141264
I don’t but diamond sharpeners because they are so heavy. 1 gram of diamond is like 15 grams
>>
>>65145031
SOS pads. Thank me later.
>but how the fuck is steel wool going to remove steel particles from ceramic
It's magic. Like gravity or the tides, we've observed enough to predict and even model, but we still don't truly understand what's happening. Just accept it and move on.
