I have a 2011 Buffoni that was/is my alternative to a 14.5 block II. Lighter weight rail and barrel. I'm a big fan of 1x/4x setups on a 14.5 or 16" AR. Cog'n'dot or Specter are both great choices.

Genuine question about the Elcan: be it video games or dot plus magnifier combos, I have never liked switching back and forth between magnifications. I would rather keep it at 3x, 4x, etc.. Is the main draw of the Elcan use with thermals? What's the benefit over a top dot if I'm used to it? Adjusting my chin somehow feels like disruptive than moving either hand to adjust magnification. This might be a personal preference, wondering if anyone else is the same?

the main draw of the Elcan is cloner retards. thats literally it. It has shit eyebox, shit functionality, shit design by Canadians, overpriced, the only positive is you could beat someone with it. That's it. The Acog is superior in literally every single other way. Pay 2800-3k for an Elcan or 1500 for an acog with an rmr backup for passive nods? you choose...

>muh used market

If you are using thermal you are using a dedicated weapon sight or clip on with no parallax issues as much as possible.

I would rather use a red dot + magnifier than an Elcan, better utility too.

>>65143222
Idk man I think the reticle information, reticle design, illumination, and ability to transition from 4x/1x on the fly especially paired with a clip on thermal or something really seems like a sweet deal when rail space starts mattering. I think it's better than most LPVOs.

All that being said I like the unkillable ruggedness of an acog. Even A2 admitted his big ass falling down a flight of stairs and breaking an elcan wouldn't haven't caused an acog failure.

>>65143551

>>65143619
It wouldn't be too difficult. Definitely ask them beforehand what they plan to do and with what tools, that will definitely give you a good idea of how much of a ripoff the gunsmith is. I do think with this particular job it might be cheaper and more fun to try it yourself with a Dremel and progressively more coarse grits (be weary that trying to grind it with too fine a paper, it will simply burn the polymer after a while, I am assuming it is polymer.

>>65143625
Not a bad idea either.

>>65143626
Also not a bad idea. I favor having a gunsmith do it just because I don't want to accidentally ugly up the receiver by going full Dremel-monkey on it. I guess the alternative would be to practice first on a cheap, no-name pelican rip off first.
----
I think for now, I'll just cover it up or live with it for a while I consider the options. These all seem like feasible ideas and I appreciate the help.

>>
>>65143679
Most likely. You can check the length of the firing pin if you want to be double sure, as well as spring tension in the trigger pack. However, if you've replaced any of those even remotely recently, then yeah, 99.95% chance it's the ammo. Stuff happens. I think even after "a few thousand rounds" these things should still be in spec.

Metal:
Brownells
FNH (again, expensive)
HK Maritime/High Reliability Magazines (very expensive)
There are more, but they all make battle tested magazines that are made for the United States and for NATO member states. The HK Maritime magazines are a little bit more sealed than others and are made of steel. They also have extremely high corrosion resistance, but they hurt to purchase.

Polymer:
Lancer Systems (hybrid)
Magpul
Again, both make magazines under contract.

Metal magazine feed lips can bend out of spec with long term heavy duty use which can degrade reliability. At what point they need to be replaced is kind of on spectrum. Polymer magazines tend to just crack, which makes it a lot easier to know they need to be swapped out. Metal magazines hold their shape essentially perfectly under long term fully-loaded storage. Poly magazines can swell due the spring pressure. Although it's not an issue with Lancers or Magpuls, the swelling can actually prevent the mag from dropping free in some magazine wells. Most will spring back to their original dimensions once emptied, anyway.

I've had good luck with my Lancers. I prefer metal magazines. The one HK Maritime that I have is absolutely solid, and it's the one I would stake my life on in home defense. I think the Brownells will be the most affordable for metal, and Magpul the most affordable for Poly. I'm sure the variety of other purely commercial magazines out there are probably suitable and very high quality, but for me, having an actual proven service track record is one less thing to be paranoid about.

Take everything with a grain of salt. I'm not expert. Weigh my opinions against your own research and arrive at a conclusion which you feel is well-reasoned. The person who best knows your needs are you.

Bought a Vortex Razor gen 3 1-10 last night off Euro Optics - no mount yet since Scalarworks is updating their LEAP 34mm in a few weeks.
What am I in for?

Not even double on Euro Optic nigger & I don't mind paying a little more for something I actually want vs something I don't want.
ACOGs are old & obsolescent.
I'm also not a poorfag unlike (you)

BKF is what i used for my carry handle upper receiver. they have complete uppers but they might not have the length barrel you want when you look. Their 20 inch barreled uppers sell out QUICK.

depends if you want it clone correct. H&R uses nitride parts in their uppers sometimes.
H&R and Black King Firearms (why the fuck did he name it that) are your best bets for out of the out of the box chrome lined barreled uppers. Otherwise check gunbroker for used carry handle uppers

In 1785, Irish merchant and slave owner John O'Donnell settled in Baltimore after arriving on the ship "Pallas" from Calcutta and the Chinese port of Guangzhou, then called Canton by English speakers. When O'Donnell purchased land, he named his plantation Canton. When O'Donnell died in 1805, the probate inventory of his estate includes 48 enslaved persons, including several infants, with their name, race, age, sex, dollar valuation, and other notes.

Canton is quite beautiful and the statistically safest neighborhood in Baltimore City, which is an independent city not part of any county, meaning Baltimore County's relatively peaceful demographics aren't counted.

This reads like big boss talking about himself and desperately trying to get people to believe he is antisemitic.
