When the crash comes and the imported replacements get hungry, you'll learn the true value of .22. Light, cheap, easy to carry as you flee the thousand-strong gangs that descend on the suburbs, and still perfectly capable of putting a hole in their heads or your own when you run out.
>>65143031remington ammo is bad
>>6514303122 has a lot of value in terms of foraging and it's better than nothing for personal protection, but it is very underpowered. You might not have the luxury of standing there and mag dumping a guy who will also shoot you before kissing dirt. Even if you do survive that situation, you aren't going to get any medical care and you'll probably be fucked at that point anyway.I think there's some value in having a 22 in a pack with survival gear, but not as the first and only line of defense.
>>65143397Cci blazer is my go to lower mid stuff
>>65143397I have about a fifth of one of those brick shaped boxes of Remington Thunderbolt left, I forget when I bought it, it has lasted me that entire time minus times when I bought CCIs or something for actual varmint busting, and considering that I've still had really almost no problems with it.
>>65143397>>65143502truth
>>65143397Winchester is also shitty ammo, jams so much.
>>6514341222lr out of the rifle will easily kill a man if you hit him in the chest
>>65143031We had to invent the .45acp because the .38 long colt couldn't reliably put down tweaked out African warriors. Have fun with your .22.
>>65143031What would be a good survival .22? For the most part you would want to use .22 for small game and have a larger bullet for when your in a firefight. Would a tricked out 10/22 be ideal?
>>65143397This, these didn't shoot. And when it does goes off it smokes more than anything.
>>65143674Tech Sights are good enough for sniping squirrel and rabbit out to about 30 yards. More durable than the cheapo scopes most Rugers come with too.Throw on a GI loopsling and take an Appleseed course with it and you'll actually maybe hit the person trying to kill you if you ever have to use your AR.
>>65143689I have tec sights. Pretty cool. Only gripe is you need a special tool to adjust elevation and it doesn't come with the sight
>>65143759I've used an m16 front sight adjustment tool on mine. It works even though it's just a hair too big. You ever earn a Rifleman patch?
>>65143771I will have to check again because mine looks like it needs some type of little wrench. Oh, no I didn't. It's a replacement from ebay. I have asian-tier cheekbones and the factory monte carlo stock was too high for me to use the sights. When I got the stock, I decided to play around with the Marlin's appearance since I was gonna refinish the new stock

I still have about 100 rounds of this stuff I bought nearly a decade ago. For the price per round it's fine but holy shit does the 'gold' dust get everywhere. Also way more flyers in them but it was like 4ยข a round when I bought it.
This is like the 5th .22 sperg thread we've had in a few weeks.
>>65143031Anon, the only people on this board are either nogunz or have a bunch of 22.Everyone has a bunch of 22 unless they're broke urbanoids with nothing but a handgun for self defense.22lr isn't some secret weapon, it so basic bitch that it's the only cartridge more economical than NATO specs. You can go out to the middle of africa and india and everyone will still have a bunch of 22 and the guns to use it.
>>65144198To be fair .22 is based and fun
>>65144210I only shoot .22, .270 and 300wm
>>65143031I should have Bought more Federal auto-comp match .22-lrI can put 5 into a dime at 75 FT
>>65143397Recommended me a brand that's worth stockpiling. There's really no reason I shouldn't have 10,000 rounds just sitting about at all times.
>>65144161At least it's a long life
>>651442102 .22s, is not a bunch of .22s. 22 .22s is a bunch of .22s
>>65143609Aim for the eyes and dick
>>65144014People lose all the fight from them when they're hit
>>65144163Completely different now, seen videos of it with good accuracy, I've bought a pack but haven't fired it yet
>>65144326You need to stockpile what your rifles like. For self defense I'd use cci velocitor even if my rifle didn't particularly like it. Wouldn't like to buy 10k rounds of it though
>>65144511lmao
you win, .22 lr shill-san. i have now resolved to purchase a 22 lr firearm after assessing these facts:>fact: .22 lr is lethal on shot placement, meaning a well shot headshot is a killshot>fact: reliability issues can be mitigated via revolvers or bolt actions>fact: 22 lr is cheap and plentiful, fun to shoot>fact: i am gullible and easily influenced by the internet especially from repeat exposurei kneel
>>65144326My boy, you do what everyone who wants accurate ammo does. You either buy many brands, typically whatever is available locally and reasonably priced. Then you, and I can't stress this enough, actually have to go outside and shoot your gun. You use all the different ammo in 5 shot groups on different or multi dot targets until you find the one that groups best out of your rifle. Don't listen to randoms tell you about the specific gun you have in your hands. Ffs, anon, this is basics. Also, cci is a generally quality place to start. My particular rifle shoots ridiculously well with the "subsonic" loading in the 100rd plastic sleeves. So that's where I stopped. I tried several more and less expensive ammos until I got there. Invest and know your rifle.
>>65144544>reliability issues can be mitigated via revolvers or bolt actionsOr just have a strong enough spring and not buying shit brands.
luv me pump winchester
>>65143609>African warriors.Malaysian. The reason we have the word 'amok'. One of two Malay words we use, the other is 'ketchup', from Malay 'Katsiop', meaning 'fish sauce'.
Rimfire priming during manufacturing involves spinning the case so that the primer compound flies 360 degrees into the rim. If you simply toss a completed .22LR round into the air, or drop it on the ground, that *can* cause part of the rim to become dead. If hit with the firing pin on that part of the rim, it's not going off. The priming compound has become dislodged. This is why centerfire rounds are used for anything that really matters. You can carry a loose 9mm round jostling around in your pocket for a year and it will still go off. Centerfire priming is more reliable. That's why any bulk manufactured .22 ammo should be expected to have more misfires than centerfire, no matter how high quality and accurate.
>>65143689>>65143771Third anon weighing in here. I earned the Appleseed Rifleman patch at 25 yards, and I passed the Rimfire KD (where you shoot a .22 at 50, 100, 150, and 200 yards). Good training and fun.If I had to use a .22 rifle for fighting, I might just put a 2 MOA red dot on it. You can make hits on a person at 100 yards by aiming a few inches high. And beyond 100 yards, if the other guy has a centerfire rifle and is shooting at you, just run and get behind cover.Appleseed is useful and I recommend it, but it prohibits bipod use. This makes sense for 2003, but in 2026 you can always have a bipod on your AR-15. If you need to make a prone shot in real life at 300 or 400 yards and only have a sling.... why didn't you just get a QD bipod?Anyway, Appleseed is good training, and done by motivated unpaid volunteers, so it's not $500 per class before ammo.
>>65144645Appleseed was started by CMP people, and it serves well in training people to be competent in taking up that shooting discipline. I also just find it really neat to be able to loop up on my A2 and take accurate shots without a bipod or rest.Huzzah!
>>65144645>If you need to make a prone shot in real life at 300 or 400 yards and only have a sling.... why didn't you just get a QD bipod? You should be able to make first round hits at 300-400 yards from a prone unsupported position. Needing a bipod at that range is absolutely a crutch for bad marksmanship fundamentals. Appleseed is absolutely right to prohibit bipods, not because bipods are hard to find in 2026 or because they were in 2003, but because allowing their use would guarantee that students would not actually learn any prone unsupported marksmanship, which is pretty much the basis of all other marksmanship. Also, like, bipods weigh something and have no other purpose. I detest shooting from a sling (I can do it well and used to shoot fullbore target rifle, just don't like it) but I can appreciate at least the idea that a sling is something that weighs nothing and that you'll nearly always have because it's very useful for another purpose. Realistically though, if you need support for a prone position for a 400 yard shot and it's not some kind of a trick shot, then the problem is that you haven't learned how to shoot properly.
>>65144777(obviously I'm not talking about rimfire shooting here, although a bipod isn't exactly going to help with that)
>>65144777Getting into the loop sling anywhere but the range may be impractical, but I don't believe anyone can deny the benefit of learning to make use of a hasty sling. The instantaneous ability to cheat out just a little more stability from any position that a well fitted sling and a little know-how gives one is essential in my opinion
>>65144824I used to do it while hunting on occasion with an ordinary two point carry sling. It's much quicker than doing it at a range makes it seem, assuming you are already carrying the rifle slung. It's not exactly the same technique, but it's the same basic idea and the ideas and fundamentals transfer directly.
>>65144853Are you referring to loop or hasty?
>>65144856hasty, but my point is that all sling shooting is just sling shooting
>>65144860Ah, I get you.Agreed.
>>65144210>the only people on this board are either nogunz or have a bunch of 22While I do have a Tippmann gatling in 22LR, I prefer 22 WMR but have other shit chambered for 5.56/223, 308/7.62, 357/38, 9, 44 Mag, 500 S&W (don't want 460/454/45LC yet), 45 Auto, 327 Fed Mag, and 12 gauge (I honestly like 12 gauge and 327 Fed Mag only but keep the rest for funsies).I might get a 40 S&W but honestly, it's easier to just take ammo in a grid down crash.
