How easy is it to convert the 1911 to full auto? Between this and the Dillinger special in .38 super converted by Texas gunsmith Hyman Lehman, what has to be done to the trigger to do this? Was the cyclic rate adjustable or just let a rip?

>Polish sear to point of no engagment
>Carry cocked and locked
>Switch off safety
>Mag dump

you can do it by accident with improper sear spring tension

Set the firing pin in the slide with maximum stickout - then put a teeny blob of MIG weld behind it to hold it there.
Reassemble the weapon as normal except leave out the trigger, safety, grip safety, hammer and main spring.
Insert full magazine and rack slide then release it.

Have you done machining in your time, and do you understand how the 1911 functions, and how a full-auto trip and disconnect functions?

It's not that arduous of a task, there was some army or marine machinist who created and registered half a dozen transferable 1911s, properly select-fire and with attachable shoulder stocks and all.

There's not that much you could do to alter the cyclic rate without making really substantial changes and additions to the weapon, like some sort rate reducing mechanism. This is the kind of thing you'd be doing when making an all new machinepistol design from the ground up.

Semi-automatic pistol actions cycle really quickly, which is why machinepistols are generally little BRRRRRT monsters.

That feels like it might not work reliably.

That'd be funny, and quite dangerous.
