I only own a shotgun at this moment. Pic related is the rifle that im interested in buying. Thoughts?
>>65148852If you're gonna spend a grand on a gun buy something that's actually unique and not just "AR but it's made by Sig". But who am I to stop youpic unrel
>>65148852You could buy a PSA or equivalent poorfag gun and an optic and magazines and ammo for that price. Depends on where you are financially
>>65148852The M400 is a $600 rifle with a $400 markup. Buy an ALG El Jefe off Eurooptic for $899 and spend whatever you have left budgeted on mags and ammo, buy a light and better optic when you've saved up again.
>>65148862>>65148879Thoughts?
>>65148892You have the worst taste and are guaranteed to buy garbage. Sig and radical. Cant wait for your next pick
>>65148892Bottom tier shit stick, I'd trust it less than PSA. My LGS regularly gives people $100 for the Radicals they're trying to dump and flips them for $200.
>>65148892Again really depends on your particular needs, legal situation, finances, etc. I don't think anyone can tell you the absolute best gun to buy for various reasons without more details.
>>65148892>the same thingJust buy a fucking Mosin or stick with your shotgun dude.
>>65148904If he's looking at a $1000 Sig, we can assume that he can afford a better rifle that costs that much or less and give him advice accordingly. Radical is never a good choice, you easily can buy a used AR that will work from a reputable manufacturer for the same price.
>>65148852The Tread is honestly fine. It's currently popular to froth over Sig, so that takes priority over any rational advice surrounding that choice.Radical is genuinely dogwater though.Personally I'd also recommend taking a look at Smith and Wesson's offerings. They're pretty reliable when it comes to putting out products and at the very least their warranty assistance is painless if you do need help.
Seriously consider the ALG Defense, it's an unbelievable deal. Otherwise look at going pre-owned. You can find LE trade in Colt 6920s for about $700 and M&P15s for about $500 if you shop around. They'll be externally beat, but usually pretty clean inside and have loads of cool looking honest wear.
>>65148932We could also expect him to ante up for a KAC or DD with service record and then bankrupt him when we suggest he a gets an ACOG or Elcan with piggyback RMR, OP just hasnt given enough details
>>65148892>mfw I just bought one for under $550 It really is gonna devolve into people shooting each other in the street, isn't it?
>>65148979God, why? You still paid way too much. That shit will rattle itself apart if it even works at all.
>>65149014Retards like him are developing fomo from the Strait of Hormuz and hantavirus shit.
>>65149014Because I is a broke nigger. Shit ain't looking good beyond the horizon nigga.
>>65149020Bought it before any of that, but go off quee.
>>65149061Broke isn't an excuse. You could've gotten a decent Smith or Ruger for that money.
OP, i bought a SIG TREAD gen 1 back when they were 900 bucks as my first AR.I walked into the big chain gun store and handled all the guns, they had those shitty spider ones, the Radical Arms ones, some M&P bullshit, and one called the SAINT or some shit.since i was able to finger fuck them the only one that didn't sound like the charging handle was lined with sandpaper was the Sig Tread, and the Saint didn't even close all the way when i hit the fucking bolt release.I rate it a 4/10. The lower is cool because it has an ambidextrous mag release. Thats it. The upper is conveniently missing pic rails for a backup front sight, but you can buy a special proprietary SIG TREAD BRAND front sight from their shop. I bought a plastic mlok pic rail and had to sand it down because of course the receiver pic rail is too low to match up with the front. The flash hider makes a TING sound every time you fire, like a tuning fork, and its set in ROCKSET so you have to dunk the gun in water for a day before you can MAYBE wrench it off with a vise. Its the "best" gun you can buy off a shelf but as a gun to buy and throw in your closet its overpriced. I've since just bought a lower and pre-built upper and made one myself for like 400 dollars.ignore the other sigs in the photo i used them to shitpost
Aero M4E1 lower with BCM upper
>>65148852Bersa BAR15, your welcoem
>>65149096>Aero
>>65149061youre poor but you are already armed with that shotgun. What shotgun is it? Instead of getting a pos el cheapo AR you could invest in ammo and range time with the shotgun. Or consider say bolt action rifle.
>>65149137>"train" with a shotgun for no reason>or buy a significantly more expensive bolty for also no reason
>no right answer engagement farm thread
>>65148932Strong disagree, based on the premise that a first rifle should not be anyone's endgame rifle. They will learn what they want from their first rifle, then use that to inform their decision when purchasing their ideal rifle.Everyone's first rifle should be a beater. Something cheap that they can abuse, learn to take apart, and test out upgrades with minimized financial risk. PSA ARs are perfect for this. Here's one that's not even on sale. Look at that price.
>>65149276Nobody here is telling him to run out and buy top of the line. Regardless of his budget, he should at least not waste it on the least reliable, least durable, and least resellable option in that bracket. Buying a Radical when you could've gotten a S&W Sport for the same price is the worst possible outcome. Paying $1000 for an entry level Sig is just getting fleeced for something grossly overpriced. I'm trying to prevent op from making a choice he'll regret and spend the SAME OR LESS on something he'll enjoy more.
>>65148852I'd suggest buying a PSA for your first. People will poo poo PSA, but if you plan on expanding your collection, then just go with that. Spending $1k on your first rifle that you'll likely won't be happy with long term is just a waste of money. Go with a cheap PSA, get used to owning an AR. Then when the time comes, you can buy a well established, quality setup or build your own if you're so inclined.
>>65148852You can build a far better rifle with a BCM upper and assorted parts onto any random lower the gun store will probably have in stock for the same price as the tread.
>>65148852It's a good choice. Don't listen to the retards talking about building rifles. Since you're clearly a newcomer to rifles, trying to build your first AR-15 will end up costing more since you'll have to buy all the tooling necessary, plus the parts and figure out a tutorial somewhere to get it right.
>>65150338>Tooling>A punch set, armorer's wrench, and maybe vice blocks for ~$100 total
>>65150286>>65150338>>65150376Or you could just get an assembled lower from PSA for $130 and all you have to do is put the upper on the lower and go shoot it.
>>65150376If you aint a bitch and don't mind scratching it you can get by without the punch set by using a hex key. I have a punch set somewhere but i havent used it in a long ass time.
>>65150376Very much >>65150432. I built my first AR with my dad sitting on his bed with nothing more than a space encyclopedia, hammer and pliers. Miss you dad.
>>65149112Its not legal in my state :(
>>65148852Why buy the Sig M400 Tread when the M400 Forge is a better replacement in every way?
I father has an M400 Tread and its okay. The handguard is heavy and retains heat while having limited mlok points and no top rail. Barrel is fine, and it seems gassed well. It has an ambi lower if that matters to you. I think he paid like $800 a few years ago, and for the money I have no objections. Its at least as good as anything he'd have put together. >>65150457Glad you have that memory anon. I know your dad loved you and is proud of you.
>>65150432post a video of you installing a gas tube using a hex key as a punch
>>65150762not professional legal advice >buy a drill press and Dremel>absolutely dont go to harbor freight>for nothing other than arts and craftsUncle Sam hates hates arts and crafts
>>65148852BUY A NICE QUALITY BOLT ACTION 22 AND LEARN TO SGHOOT NOT THAT LARPERATOR SHITE
>>65150397ffls around me charge extra for PSA transfers over any other transfersrather buy whatever lower is in the store so everything else can be shipped to me
>>65152167alright grandpa
>>65149120Nothing wrong with Aero.
>>65152211they went heavily downhill in the last few years
This is a horrible thread.
>>65148852Just buy a dot. A holosun with a reptilla mount. No QD nonsense. For 1100 you could piece a pretty good gun out. >>65148939>>65148904Good advice.
>>65149276>Everyone's first rifle should be a beater.>Everyone's first rifle should be a waste of money that runs the risk of failing to do its actual job besides punching paper Don't listen to this retard, get something reliable and within your budget unless you're really stretching your dollar to drop a grand on an AR. "Buy once, cry once."
>>65152725"reliability" is a meme. if your gun works it works and if it doesn't work you'll find out within your first magazines worth of shooting and you can fix it or rma it. real life isn't like a video game where your gun has a random % chance of failing every time you shoot it.
No matter what you buy, you are going to make the wrong choice. Pack it in boys, he's hopeless.
