What makes the Korean War so forgotten? What about its weapons made no one remember it?
>>65150329they fought china in the worst terrain possible rather than fighting them in china where the terrain is impossible to defend
>>65150329These god damn crybaby Vietnam vets, you didnt see US coming home expecting a red carpet and trophy
LOL china wants to forget the Krean war.
>>65150329It was dlc when people usually remember the main game.
>>65150337Didn't they save North Korea?
>>65150329Nobody won decisively so nobody wants to brag about participating in it.
>>65150337egg fried rice? I assume this is a reference to Mao's son?
>>65150329Because there were so many boondoggles and fuck ups that got a lot of people killed on both sides, it's best left where it's at. It's a war where there was no clear victor, and everyone got a piece of something but lost a piece of something. That, and it was a miserable war to fight for all involved.
>>65150375No.
>>65150402Why would Americans and Britons defect to China?
>>65150409>22Yeah, thats about how many absolute retards there are at any given time. Its actually a shockingly small amount of absolute retards.
>>65150409communism saw a surge in popularity after ww2
>>65150337Delete that shit, BITCH.
>>65150402why didn't a daughter take over then?
>>65150337
>>65150463>Chinese>allowing a daughter to be born.Ror. Rmao.
>>65150329It was kinda embarassing on both sides. MacArther basically didn't believe the Chinese would counterattack even as his frontline started to break down. Meanwhile, the Chinese advance just stalled out and started to starve to death. By the time the Armstice was called North Korea had less land than it started with.
>>65150329The Korean War was peak commie-killing kino and I will hear absolutely NO red Chinese evidence to the contrary!
>>65150409Full retards who believed in communism.
>>65150348and thanks to that, the US now has a legitimate excuse to fill SK with troops and SAMs
With regard to weaponry and warfare, Korea and the early Cold War in general was basically WW2 with jets, nukes and better tanksWhich means it was aesthetically great and absolute kino
>>65150409Konichiwa, dude
>>65150402>preventing a Mao dynastyconsidering his dad's track record as a peacetime leader, this probably worked out in China's favor>>65150558firstly, that's ackshyually Vietnam war-era ROKMC gearsecondly, here's a better quality version
One aspect of the Korean War that is criminally overlooked is the participation of non-American UN troopsThey weren't numerous compared to the US contingents, but they still hold their own. They all distinguished themselves in some manner, and they all had their own unique national characteristicsA fascinating subject of study
>>65150426its equally shocking how little people talk about thisits rare that these retards being retarded actually cause a wave from their actions as other mistake their retardedness for intelligence and follow the leader

>>65150724who's the commander?
>>65150719It was the only one I could find of a Korean waifu holding an m1 garand. Besides, everyone knows that Vietnam was a spiritual successor to Korea.

>>65150816*
>>65150779Modern UN is so gay and useless. It's simply become daycare center for wannabe politicians that were too retarded and corrupt for work in their own country
>>65150831It's because of the security council + no funding
My grandfather was in the Korean war.. showed me pictures of him holding a 'grease gun' some sort of submachine gun
>>65150779What are you talking about? There were massive coalitions for the gulf wars.
>>65150409You can read about defectors to learn more. Typically happens when there's a huge group of captives, you can always find folks that want to get something out of it. Fun fact the few quislings were used for decades as bad guys in NK films since they have no whites lol
>>65150724Did you know there were Ethiopian troops there? Did you know that SK pays their pensions because once the Ethiopian gov fell Chinar forced them to cut pensions for Korea vets?

>>65150409>Why do people do stupid thingsYou're just as retarded as they were.
>>65150329Nobody "forgot" that conflict except the boomers who got so wrapped up in their own underwear about vietnam and the "conservatives" who usually slobber over warfare, but want to paper-over MacArthur ego-tripping over his own dick so hard he got fired after goading a million chinks into a fight that was already won.
>>65151134>It's because of the security council + no funding It's because of Zhangistan and the Ruslamyat. The UNSC at that time had the ROC instead of the PRC in China's seat, and Stalin had pulled the galaxy-brain move of boycotting UNSC sessions. So the West were free to do as they wished.

>>65151585The comfort women were willing because the Japanese men were widely regarded as more handsome than Chinese. There is a reason why girls think Japanese and Korean guys are cute and glamorous and Chinese are ugly all over the world.
Unironically the Cold War in Germany was more important to the world at the time. It's important to remember that to the US, Korea and even Vietnam weren't separate isolated wars but probing attacks, flanking from the communists. Important to meet them and stop them if you can, but the early days of the cold war especially before ICBMs when massed bomber fleets was how nukes would get delivered, it was a game of chicken over in Berlin. Plus, with all the genuinely huge sociopolitical upheaval from WWII AND the fallout (which Korea is a part of), it was hard to take special notice when a quarter of the world is still fighting either a civil war or insurgency against an occupying power/invasion force. >Most fucked up part of it is that the current stalemate benefits literally everyone except the North Korean citizens (South Korea as well probably until the 1990s when it stopped being even worse than the North). Honestly I dont think advancing past Pyongyang would have been beneficial to begin with. We should have just camped there until Spring and negotiated an end to the war with China having to tard wrangle what was left of the Norks up in the hills by ceding that land to China & the Norks continuing attacks would have been casus belli to actually fight China. Whatever parallel gets Pyongyang & Wonsan for Our Korea and somewhere above that China can deal with some client state Norks.

>>65150779It wasn't the UN gathering the coalition so much as the US under the banner of the UN.
>>65150329My grandfather served in Korea on an M16 half-track. Had a bunch of non-combat stories, never gave specific stories from combat other than how Chinese wave tactics worked. I made the mistake of asking him the one time if he had killed while there. He gave a non-answer which, knowing him, was an admission that he had.
>>65151359The inability of the UN to remove members from the security council by simple majority vote was the greatest mistake ever made during its existence. That, and letting dirty fucking reds in it in the first place. It could’ve been the strong arm of the Free West if not for namby-pamby DIRTY FUCKING RED COMMIE SYMPATHIZERS.
>>65150375>no clear victor>loat piece of something and got piece of somethingNorks lost much more and gained much less. Looks like South Korea clear victory.
A variety of reasons. It was a conflict following the largest war in human history that just occurred 5 years prior to it. Pretty much every conflict following the immediate aftermath of WW2 were proxy conflicts. That were regionally important, but are not exactly remembered far and wide either. Generally speaking as well, it was a sideshow to the world to what was going on in Europe at the time. What is probably going to have the worlds attention more? A USSR-NATO stare down in Central Europe which could trigger WW3? Or a fight on a small peninsula, in a country most people never have heard of at the time? The conflict itself was a tug-of-war that ended back at square one. Consider this, the United States just came off from defeating Japan and victory in Western Europe, and the PRC from their victory in the Chinese Civil War. What is going to have a greater grip upon national consciousness and is more politically convenient to use as a measure of national strength for both? To the US, politically speaking, it was a 'police action', and downplayed the scale of involvement and there was no mass-mobilization. To the Chinese, it was bailing out an overwhelmed Communist Korea, but more importantly to them, prevented a bordering potential hostile state with western alignment. And it all ended exactly where it began. Kind of hard to frame it as a glorious victory. The reason why Vietnam is more remembered, but following a similar pattern? It was the first actively "televised" conflict. Only 9% of the population of the US had television at time in 1950. By the time Vietnam was kicking off in earnest, it was at 93%. With Korea, it was a far away place you heard on the radio, read in a newspaper or saw a newsreel of in the cinema, but was still out of sight and out mind. Compared to seeing footage and reporting on a daily basis, in your own home, and with less of a filter every night on television news? One is objectively going to be more noticeable.
