How viable are hovercraft? I swear I heard somewhere that they already are in use by some countries.
>>65151499you just made that up to post w*rhammer slop, didn't you?
>>65151499If you have to make a beach landing they are the best option for the first waves because they are fast and can drop armour straight onto the beach.Beach landings are always going to be high casualty clusterfucks but hovercraft are still better than landing craft doing 5 knots.
>>65151509hes not talking about actual hovercraft, hes talking about sci-fi junk
>>65151508If they're made up how come they're real, genius?
>>65151512Why are you so pissy about 40k bro? We can talk about all kinds of hovercraft. Personally I think the idea of a flying vehicle that can handle many terrains at speed is interesting, but if 40k triggers you, what about a nice speeder bike? All real weapons were once speculative fiction, you know.
>>65151512Actually wait maybe you just don't like the Imperium? I gotchu senpai. The Eldar may be almost as gay as California but damn if their jetbikes aren't sex.
>>65151499They're pretty good, but they have the same weakness to jumpjet flanking as other armoured vehicles, and you have to watch out for infantry and battle armour chipping away at your skirts
>>65151530It makes you wonder if jetpacks have a military future too.
>>65151527Eldar in general have the best looking vehicles in the game, that's why the only update to the falcon grav tank has been updating the sprue so it has all the turrets in one box so you only need to buy one box to make it or any of the variants of it.
All these thinly-veiled 40k threads are tiresome, why can't OP just go back to /tg/ where he should be?
>>65152478/k/ is for the discussion of weapons and militaria, real or fictional. Fuck off wannabe board police.
>>65151499minis sales down after people got bored of LIKE A PRAYER LORD CALGAR SAVES THE MEN sony india 4k youtube shorts sloppa?
>>65151499>ultra-light military vehicle>barely any carrying capacity for the cost>as a result you get fuck all armor and barely enough weapons for self defense>no fine controlThey suck, even in the one role where they aren't completely shit (naval landing) they're not up to the job. Until someone makes actual sci-fi bullshittium powered anti-gravity engines leave them for retarded action movies.
>HIS FACE WAS SMASHED
>>65152622Hello fellow FUCKIN BRUTAL enjoyer.
>>65151527I would say significantly less gay, unless there's some law somewhere that says if CA ever gets invaded they'll give every citizen that can physically fight an assault rifle and body armor.
>>65151527>>65152362
>>65151527>>65152362>>65152630
>>65151499I think the only real fiction I've seen use them credibly as combat vehicles is Hammer's Slammers, and that's only under the constraints of them using miniature nuclear powerplants for effectively infinite thrust, which allows them to roll around as huge thorium pillboxes. Even then the Slammer tank is often more a triumph of integrated computer and sensor networks and the hover part is just a way to explain why it doesn't get bogged down in sand and shit.

>>65152650>>65152655The only thing that looks better than an eldar ground vehicle, is an eldar air vehicle.
>>65152650>>65152655>>65152665You are primitive and unclean, begone warp-tainted vermin.
>>65152788Spess elves have been around just as long as you have Dongless.
>>65151499>they already are in use by some countriesIn Ghana?
>>65151499Sigh, i remember when hover technology was super mega rare in the imperium
>>65153138It still is, only the space marines really have them, and only for a few of their lighter tanks.
>>65151499The power requirements would make it completely unviable outside of small testbeds, which is why things like jetpacks have never taken off despite the baseline technology having existed for over 60 years.
>>65152909wrong.
>>65152788I don't think crons ever considered Eldar particularly unsophisticated or unclean, especially considering that they and orks were uplifted at the same time and both fought in the war in heaven. It takes a special kind of a retard to consider the space elves primitive when orks are RIGHT THERE.
>>65152614I dunno man it seems to me they'd be pretty useful in conflicts such as what we currently see in Ukraine. It's hard to drone you down when you move as quickly as the drones, and hard to use anti-air against you when you're just a couple of metres off the ground, and you can just simply ignore minefields. You see Russians trying to gain ground by using motorcycles and e-scoots all the time, and I don't see how a hoverbike wouldn't be an upgrade.
>>65152665>>65152655>>65152650>>65151527Erm it's *AELDARI*, ok? praise GW
>>65151499I don't know of any militaries using them, but the Dubai police force have some hoverbikes.
>>65153487Y'know, somehow I don't get the feeling that the Dubai police are a particularly practical bunch when it comes to vehicle spending
>>65153513It's not entirely unheard of that police forces receive donations from car manufacturers.
>>65153409*wong
>>65153513Wouldn't it make sense to have at least a few police supercars when so many rich assholes have cars that can outrun any standard cruiser?
>>65152478Nigga have you been to /tg/? Very different conversations there.
>>65151499Oops! you posted this in /k/ instead of >>>/tg/. Making sure your posts are on the right board is key to maintaining the discussion quality of our little forum here. Unfortunately, due to pay cuts, we've had to lay off some janitors whose job it is to clean up off-topic posts like the one you made. So you're gonna get off without as much as a warning this time, but for the sake of our community, please refrain from posting content not related to weapons on this board. I'm sure the folks on /tg/ would love to discuss your little doll game with you though!
>>65151527Not a fan of the redesigned jetbikes
>>65153599good luck outrunning live camera footage, radios and helicoptersand my dick that's about to fuck your ear hole for being so stupid
>>65153487>driver falls off bike>gets mulched by the rotorsI'm not sure about this design, anon.
>>65153968Eh, the flying Harley look doesn't suit the eldar. Flying sportbike is more in line with their overall aesthetic.
>>65153599The police are persistence hunters, anon.
>>65154266Also the fact that your car might be fast, but it's not faster than a helicopter.
>>65153599>>65153538Police supercars have no utility outside of PR stunts.
