Good choice anon. I love my 88 Mav. Get the combo with the 28" and 18" barrel and you have a gun that can do almost everything. It's a little more up front for the combo, but saves cash in the long run vs buying the barrel separate. I had a 500 and while the 500 is supposed to be "better" I don't see it cuz I just leave my shotguns alone and don't give a shit about changing out parts on them. Performance is exactly the same between the two. Ambi safety on the 500 was nice, but not enough to justify the price difference. Plus my 500 fucking broke on its first outing.
