I think having any western weapons at all automatically makes one more advanced than the Russians

Russia, being a largely matriarchal society, tens to focus more on aesthetics rather than effectiveness, and will willingly throw its manpower away to no effect since they place no value in the masculine.

Actually, the brigades modernized by Serdyukov's reforms were quite good.

Until they got obliterated by AFU in two months around Kyiv.

All countries have an eclectic mix as procurement filters through different units and branches. This gets worse in a warzone because people start bringing their own stuff to play while older dudes will categorically refuse to hand in their old stuff.

Why is /k/ like this? The 2014 Ukraine drip was also kino even if over time they all started wearing ex-British Army uniforms that were clearly being stolen from stores.

Wow a 15-20 year old photo of some guys in the kansas army national guard, wearing standard-issue US army uniforms. You sure convinced me, comrade, truly puccia's eclectic mix of gear does not mean anything bad!

I remember seeing armor with neck protection come in a while ago, but you don't see as much anymore. i wonder why, seems a great idea for raiding trenches
>>
>>65160537
Nah bro. It was on purpose. You see tov...friend, the induced wobbling results in a wider cone of fire, essentially a "shotgun" effect. This is desirable to shoot down aircraft.
>>
>>65160383
This shit is just aesthetics. It's still a man with a rifle. The real shit is logistics, training, strategy, the complete destruction of Russia's vehicle fleet, none of which you can see in the picture. When was the last time we saw some actual humans shooting each other? It's all drone videos nowadays.

They had proper gear when they were officially adopted into the afu. Those guys aren't azov, anyway, they're just protesters from euromaidan

Despite what agent Krasnov spews in public there are heroes within the DoD and the Pentagon who are losing crates and shipping containers that manage to end up in Ukraine without anyone being none the wiser.

Storage bunkers, armories, and warehouses run out of dakka and kit progressively forcing a storage reliant military to issue older less effective stuff or simply less stuff overall. Craptastic factories with supply issues don't make much, certainly not enough to offset the levels of attrition seen among Russian forces. Russia is scraping the barrel, has minimal low quality foreign support, and their MIC isn't even a shadow of the USSR's (much of which was ironically in Ukraine).

Ukraine went through a lot of great military reforms following 2014 and have tons of foreign support. The Ukie MIC is also being supported and growing. 2014 taught them that if they do not modernize immediately Russia can legitimately just walk in and take what it wants. Leading up to the Russian invasion they'd been fighting Russian backed separatists and flagless little green men for years also giving them combat experience.

Russia thought it'd be another cakewalk, Ukraine is making the Russians pay dearly for underestimating them. The result so far is Russian troops that look like drunk airsofters and Ukrainian troops that often look well put together even this far into it. Prior to the invasion such slovenly troops being regularly fielded by Russia would've been utterly silly, but that's how attrition steers the war when your only open supporter is North Korea. Ukraine has the better logistics back end.
>>
>>65160383
Mostly because Ukraine cannot afford to lose people, so they try to keep their troops as well equipped as possible, both at the army level and at the unit level.
Russia on the other hand, while also facing a demographic cliff, finds it more efficient to just throw meat at the problem and hope it solves itself.

Their newest cope regarding BMPT cannon wobbling is something like
>durrrr they were never meant to shoot at the same time, HATO propaganda!
>>
>>65161287
Would sure explain how they still have ATACMS.
>>
>>65161672
I could swear that's been the excuse for years now. It does make sense btw. No actual physical switching of ammo types when the operator switches because it's literally just a second gun isn't really a bad idea and gives a bit of redundancy. The problem is it was executed Russianly and the turret they're on is a joke. Between the barrel wobble and the turret getting torqued by a slightly off center autocannon it's hilarious.
>>
>>65161002
Holy cope.

This is cool fanfiction but do you have any actual evidence?

They might have been, but serdyukov was canned in 2012 for not playing the corruption game.
The 2014 invasion might have still benefitted from his reforms to some degree, but in 2022, things were well back to normal in Russia.

It really is quite amazing how ziggers blew an almost sure shot in the first two months
monke wanted a glorious victory in no more than two weeks, burned all his decent shit failing that objective and got a quagmire where his victory condition is yurop somehow completely collapsing economically
In many ways, ziggers winning crimea with barely a shot fired fucked them up in the long run

>>
>>65160537
Those are 2 independent 2A42 stuck side by side. They don't fire at the same time there is no synchronization its hard to say if they will do anything. It might increase spread by shaking the barrels apart on average I guess. But if you're firing a long burst rather than single shots you might want beaten area etc.
>>
>>65163958
What's the point of the twin barrel design then, instead of one centered barrel?
