>In a remote desert in the northwestern Xinjiang region, Chang is building a large military complex for the country’s nuclear weapons program. Its existence was already known, but according to news agency Reuters, the scale of the facility and its possible purposes have been mapped out for the first time.
>The site spans an area of hundreds of square kilometers and is visible in satellite images analyzed by Reuters. A network of bases has been set up between the nuclear missile launch silos. >Near the Hami nuclear missile complex, there are more than eighty launch platforms in total for (nuclear) missiles and air defense systems. These launch platforms are located near isolated nuclear silos where China’s primary nuclear missiles are stored.>Close to the launch platforms are buildings that can accommodate large military vehicles and provide accommodation for Chinese defense personnel. In addition, there are weapon storage facilities, bunkers, airfields, and a railway network. Reuters observed military exercises involving large military aircraft in April and May.
shoulda nuked them during the Korean war

>>65192624>>65192626This is standard second strike capability stuff, build more silos than you have ICBMs and rotate them constantly with very few people knowing which silos are armed. The US started this all the way back with the Titan missile, the USSR quickly copied and now China has clearly decided "minimal viable deterant" includes robust second strike.
>>65192624Vely impleassive, vely ching khu lung
>>65192703I'm not a fan of the chinks because of the constant lying, like putting chick text on a Russian Proton-M rocket crash from 12 years ago.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkldcqZEQus
>>65192624US is building the biggest "implessive" sign to own the chinks
>>65192705Impleassivuru
>>65192720That's more like it, so long as you are lying I don't have a problem. What I'll never understand is there is 100 videos of expended 1st stages venting red fuming nitric acid falling close to or on chink villages and someone still felt the need to lie about that old Russian video being Chinese.
>decide to putt around the desert looking at stuff>see picrelWhat do you think is there?
>>65192731What do you mean what's there? You posted the picture yourself. They painted a chunk of desert black.
>>65192668Breshnev wanted to when it became clear that the Chinese were about to have their own nuclear weapons, but Kissinger refused to give a guarantee that the US wouldn't treat it as a first strike and launch our nukes in response. At the time, the thought was that a powerful China on Russia's border would prevent the USSR from expanding into Asia, but still be weak enough for the West to contain. Which sort of worked, but created a much bigger problem later on.
>>65192731A large hole.
>>65192731Basically >>65192746 Looks like a reservoir. The dark color had me interested though so did looking and it seems some have liners added to help with water retention. Not sure how it helps, black seems an odd color choice, but it does.
>>65192624I guess the chinese were listening when americans kept musing about winning a nuclear war against them.
>>65192624I'd have believed you if I haven't heard of their ghost cities and the idea of Potemkin villages.
>>65192624why does it look like a bullseye?
>>65192777Synthetics more or less last forever unless they face UV damage, black is the go to color to prevent all but the most minor surface damage.
>>65192777got those black anti evaporation balls floating on the surface
>>65192702Nah you dont bother rotating, what is even the point in risking being photographed from space. You fill them all with ICBMs and only rotate the nukes until you make enough to fill them all.
