Are you sure, man?
This thing genuinely smells like rank armpits and failed states.
>>
>>65196375
NTA
Just leave it out in the open for a while, the smell will dissipate naturally, or to accelerate it sit it in a windowsill that gets light constantly throughout the day for like a week. If you do the sunlight thing, it might fade a bit so ymmv.
Otherwise if you really want to get rid of the smell, you could soak it in soapy water for like 20-30 minutes and then scrub it
Just don't let the leather loop get into the soap, it won't play along as well as the canvas.
It's just canvas, you can clean it like any piece of cloth.

He's outside his expertise. Similar to his video on the AUG.

There's some absolutely amazing videos out there from Valgear on the gun as well as Brandon Mitchell.

What's most interesting to me is that they mention Russia mass issuing AP tungsten core ammo to their assaulters. Surprising they're able to tbqhwy.

Would a civilian reproduction of these even be feasible? People would sell their kidney to get one, of course. But what about the technology/legality of it?
>>
>>65197783
The whole concept and design of that gun revolves around the 2 round burst feature which would be unusable. It would be retarded

>>65197780
They are better. I have a 2018 WASR that is extremely solid and well built but completely pre-scratched and rougher uneven phosphate finish. The hammer pin and spring were installed very crooked with one end of the pin out of the hammer pin hole. It still ran perfectly like that. But I got a new 2024 WASR and it is much nicer. No scratches, nicer looking finish, everything installed correctly and straight.
>>
>>65197783
>civilian reproduction
It's complicated to make > more expensive to make > startup company goes out of business. It's a classic cycle of someone a making a repro of niche gun.

A converted Saiga will always be worth less than an SGL despite being the same gun at its core.
Consider a BMW E30. Is an E30 M3 worth the same as an E30 316s upgraded with aftermarket parts that are more-or-less the same an M3? Of course not.

Not pictured, but the front trunnion also cracked.
I haven't decided whether PPU sent me a spicy round or Chinese pot metal AK just reached it's natural conclusion but I sure am glad I didn't take any shrapnel to the face.

Why are the 103s known as "ribbed" and these are "channel"?
Is it because the Molot plums are called "ribbed" and it's just to avoid confusion?

The "ribbed" mags look like reinforcement ribs sticking out from an underlying surface.
The "channel" mags look more like recesses (or channels) in a larger surface.
That's my theory at least, I'm not the one who decided this nomenclature nor do I have a source stating why one general term is used over another.

Fully welded folder?
I tend to disbelieve unfired claims, especially if someone went through the trouble of timing that Xbox fuckhueg GK brake.
Regardless, still a nice acquisition. If you plan on keeping it, I'd ditch the brake (unless you plan on shooting 3" slugs a lot) and get a Mod choke at least.

>Fully welded folder?
Nope, it's fixed. I actually didn't know welded stocks were a thing, now I wish mine was one lol.
I initially dismissed the previous owner claiming it was unfired in the ad but after getting it in my hands and opening it up I really don't see any signs of use at all. Plus the guy said he already had a factory SBS version so this probably just sat around in the box until he felt like getting rid of it.
A choke would be great, I agree. I plan on getting a couple 10 or 12 round mags and maybe even a drum and bringing it out to 3 gun for shits and giggles so that'll probably be more useful than a brake. Looks like there's also a choke with threads for a brake so doubling up might be fun as long as it's not too unwieldy.

>>65207127
I'll be honest that's one of the first things I looked up when I was planning on getting it. Doesn't really seem like anyone's tried to install one and I don't feel like trying either. It'd probably be hilarious the first couple times with a drum but I already pretty much only put my MPX into fun mode as a party trick for others to try, I don't really want one that'll only do FRT on a shotgun unless someone's made a 3 way AK FRT that I haven't heard of yet.

Type 81 mags are collector's pieces mostly, I don't think you could even get a price for it because of how few there are in the country. Any searching online brings you to Canadian merchants, and their prices aren't comparable (and are for 5 round mags anyway).
Keep it around as an oddity, you won't get a good price for it trying to sell it off unless you find one of the people who owns one of the 20 or so rifles in the country.

Zastava AK, one of the newer ones, does this look like serious damage on the bolt carrier or regular wear?
Ignore the heavy grease
The edge right under the bolt, the one that contacts the hammer seems like it's not straight and is rounding over.
Gun was bought brand new, it fired something like 100 rounds
>>
>>65213810
It cycles normally and feeds like it should, I just noticed it today, also the inside round edge where the bolt is feels sharp
>>
>>65213827
Look at your hammer and your carrier tail, compare the wear on those. It might just be "wearing in" and then the wear will rest at a consistent point. It doesn't look that bad, even for such a low round count.
It wouldn't hurt to file down the sharp edges though either, you're not going to work that metal back to the original shape and I personally would rather not cut myself disassembling my own guns.
>>
File: 8186266161y.jpg (507 KB, 1080x787)
507 KB JPG
>>65213843
Here's what the hammer looks like, there's surface wear which is what I expected and it's basically just bluing taken off, nothing I'd worry about
I don't think it was possible to have this much wear on the bolt carrier part just for cycling the bolt with the hammer pulled back, it makes no sense to me
>>
>>65213866
If there's wear on your carrier, that means your hammer is harder than your carrier. If the only wear on the hammer is finish, then this is doubly the case.
If the carrier tail isn't mushrooming too much, you have nothing to worry about. The carrier tail is the first part to touch the hammer, so MOST of the wear should be on that face, unless your hammer is slightly (a few thousandths) too high. If it is, not really a problem unless your wear progresses much faster in the next few hundred rounds.
Just file down the sharp edges so you don't cut yourself. It is genuinely too early to tell if your wear is premature or not, it could just be parts "wearing in" to each other and then the wear stops.
>>
File: 62635u1i1.jpg (676 KB, 1080x1140)
676 KB JPG
>>65213885
Here's the carrier tail and the part I was talking about, the carrier tail has some wear and peening on it but I've heard that's completely normal, not so sure about the part under it.
A couple of times instead of dry firing, I used to pull the bolt handle back until that touches the hammer and I'd squeeze the trigger so it all drops without too much clanking, but I don't know I highly doubt that's what started screwing the carrier up..
>>
>>65213915
That looks like it was just the parts wearing in to a resting place for tolerances, they all look fine. File down the sharp spots, then keep shooting. It's most likely fine, just check on it sporadically, around 1000 rounds or so and then every 500-1000 depending on how anal you want to be about it.
You're just too early in round count to really know which it is between wearing in or wear, like I said.
>>
>>65213952
Alright thanks anon and sorry for the noob question, I also suspected it was normal wear in but just wanted to check with experienced people
Laws in my country are alright but replacing some parts sucks because stuff like barrels and carriers require about the same amount of paperwork as buying a new gun so it's a headache

Actually, yes, maybe, sort of, but it depends on what you need.

Who the fuck came up with ak being inaccurate myth? Gamer virgins, Hollywood or podcast operators?
I'm not new to shooting (not an expert either) but new to shooting AKs, managed to hit a 10 cm (4 inch) wide target at 100 meters twice using iron sights today, I'm convinced it works nicely and every miss is my fault.
I didn't shoot a lot but I plan to do it more often next time from 200, this is way more enjoyable than any other rifle I've had the chance of using. I don't even want to buy any kind of optics or scope for it, the sights are great

Probably came about in Vietnam or Africa due to fighting retard conscripts who didn't know how to use their rifles effectively. If you massacred a bunch or tards but never bothered to fire one of their AK's for yourself you would probably conclude that they died because their commie gear was dogshit not because they were stupid and didn't know how to use it correctly. The myth likely spread from there just like all the other boomer myths of the era.

If you live anywhere within an hour of Columbus you're getting real estate investment because of the Intel plant they wanted to build out West; the R candidate for governor renewed their hopes for it because of his proclivity for H-1Bs.
>t. live an hour outside of Columbus, already seen two apartment buildings built and heard from friends and family of very odd offers to wholesale buy their farms out from under them
By "very odd" I mean either absurdly high prices for 50-100 acres back 2 gravel roads in BFE, from men who are very clearly Arabs/Indians, or offers to buy at slightly above market rate that when refused are met with a thinly-veiled threat (like "you'll regret not selling to me" or "you don't know what's coming to you") from the "prospective buyer."

by the way do you use the front sight flip up? it's a strange sight picture considering the dot is in the center of a round paddle and i find it hard to believe it works out to 200 let alone closer in because of how much space it takes up in the sight picture.
>>
>>65218342
Nta but I also have a zastava just a different one than yours and the flip up front sights are useless, they're just a cool feature that makes the gun more sophisticated.
This is because it's too wide as you said and because almost every ak in existence has a front sight post off center from the factory when they zeroed it, so when you flip the sight it covers the real sigh post and you'd have to hold over from memory which is dumb.
>>
>>65218392
Meant to say if you wanna shoot in the dark, you'll be better off painting the front sight post in something easily visible and using only the rear flip up night sights if you have them

I grew up here, I watched it all slowly burn down in the past 5 years. Columbus became a "destination" for coasties looking for cheap real estate and corpos looking for lower taxes, and now we have to suffer the consequences. C'est la vie.
>Idaho
Idaho isn't much better than Ohio currently, according to a friend I have who lives near Moscow; CA transplants are going there en masse for cheap real estate, same as OH.
I've been thinking of WV personally; I have an engineering degree, so I can kind of go anywhere I want.
West Virginia is nice but hard to move into and they have some weird laws and utilities (as well as unironic "we don't take kindly to outsiders" good old boys shit in the deeper hollers and towns in the south of the state) so you have to get lucky on real estate and no matter where you go, you have to be comfortable knowing your next-door neighbor is living in a rotting trailer with a Geo Metro rusting in his front yard, or live in Charleston/Wheeling.

There's a little bit of tech in the area around Wheeling, it's been there since the early 90s but has waned from consolidation. Nice area, but awful to drive around in (because you go into and out of 3 states around and through mountains) and it's very expensive comparative to the rest of the state.
I personally have no experience with Charleston, so I won't speak on it.
>>65220277
Every state is "pick and choose your bullshit flavor" unfortunately. KY is a slightly more expensive WV that's a bit easier to get into has been my takeaway from looking. WV home insurance is also quite high though because of flooding so ymmv.
If not WV, I've been considering a "fuck it" full send and going to South Dakota or even Alaska and making it work as best I can. I cannot stand the noise, lights and people from the city, and if I stay here these things just keep getting worse.

Thanks, that didn't occur to me. Now that I think about it, I don't even know if it matters given my manufacturing limitations. The part that interfaces with the button wedge is gonna have to be laser cut (very cheap to produce but not very accurate, dimensions can vary between parts)

I might end up shipping the part with an undersized hole so the user can open it up with a file until their button locks into the part. Obviously, I would provide instructions and a rectangular pilot hole. Am I asking too much/creating too much friction for the customer? Granted, this is going to be a reproduction of an obscure part only akfags would know about so the demographic that would actually buy it leans towards the enthusiast side which are more handy/willing to modify parts

As >>65220502 said, OR is in dire straits too. They had a death sentence of a gun ban pass (barely) but it's been appealed and held up in the courts. But it's looming over their heads.
That's just for the guns too. OR, like WA, is completely ideologically-captured. The amount of unironic socialist and communist politicians successfully getting elected at progressively higher levels of government is legitimately concerning. I never in my life thought I'd see someone claiming to be a socialist win an election in the USA. Just look at the DSA's numerous websites about their platforms. They're spreading around the country and I am more worried by the day they will lie and deceive voters to the point where we see them become state leaders.

>24mm front sight block and a Russian commercial market sidefolder rear trunnion
Is there a list/reference somewhere on making a clone correct 100 series? I'm curious about this.
>>
>>65222021
Don't be disingenuous.
PSA's "103s" have none of the internal bits of an AK103, yet PSA calls them AK103s because of external appearances.
Missing a full auto trigger group does not change the rest of the design. PSA "103s" do not have 100-series bolts, nor 100-series carriers, nor 100-series trunnions. They're dolled up AKMs.
>>65222051
Someone more autistic than me probably has a list on hand, but off the top of my head there's a lot of tiny little things like trigger humps for the rate limiter (clone correct Soviet/Russian AKMs and 74s before 1987 have one, post '87 all have two), pistol grip reinforcement plates because of the sidefolder and the 74m/100-series bolt designs vs. the AKM or even AK74 bolt designs, and that's ignoring the on-the-surface stuff I mentioned before.
I'm probably missing a few things as well.

Besides converting an SGL to 100 spec, or parts kits, is there anyone making correct 100 series internals? I think KUSA was 1-1, not sure about Meridian defense, or WBP 100 series.
>>
Not sure how I feel about Bonesteel stocks on a Beryl. I want to replace the stock on mine, but I don't like the collapsing stock FB made for them. Maybe i'm the only one that likes the upgrade parts, I normally don't like AKs with any extra shit on them like quad rails and stocks like that, but it just looks right to me. I like how chunky it is with everything on it.
>>
>>65222505
KUSA were 1-1 except for full auto, Meridian is 1-1 (they bought KUSA tooling as far as I can tell) but I haven't had one in-hand to say 100% so don't take my word on it, WBP are the same as PSA where they're AKM spec with 90 degree gas blocks and 24mm front sight blocks. WBP's 5.45 and 5.56 guns are wholly proprietary as well.

>WBP's 5.45 and 5.56 guns are wholly proprietary as well.

That's talking about externals. Furniture, mostly.
WBP 5.56 bolt stems are a unique size, they are 100% NOT compatible with standard AKM carriers, for example.

1006 KB JPG
Groza parts came in today. Mostly happy with it aside from a few things. Of those issues, most are due to me kludging together my Krink base out of an AKM and 4 different manufacturers. The only thing I can get upset about is that fact that they forgot to ship the screw that attaches the carry handle to the front sight, and the optic rail is too fucked up to install. The optic rail is polymer with threaded brass inserts which is fine but unfortunately one of those inserts is so crooked the screw won't line up. All of the other parts are great.

The linkage system looks almost identical to the old Century Arms bullpup. It's basically a wire that spans between the hook of the rear trigger to a hinge on the front trigger. My kit came with a modified military trigger but some of them have a newly manufactured FCG. If you try pulling it while on safe you can feel the springy-ness, but I don't notice it much when actually letting the hammer drop. I made my own mag latch to cope the Groza look better and I'll probably end up cutting off the kink sights too because they poke me in the face when aim. Not required but it is uncomfortable. Also, I regret building this in 7.62x39. The magazine inserts angle sucks, I can't insert anything besides 10 rounders and even then, it feels gross as fuck. Gonna have to chop my grip or something.

That's basically it. You have nothing else to worry about if you're putting it on a PSA kink but if you're going to install it on a kit build or something there's some extra things you should consider. I'm using a Romanian AKM front trunnion and Recreator 7.62 Krink barrel which have turned out to be too loose. The lower housing needs shimming on the receiver end, and the barrel clamp is too large to properly clamp down on the recreator barrel. Not a big deal, I expected to have to do that a bit. Allegedly the Riley krinks need major modifications.
>>
File: grozahandgaurdcut.jpg (258 KB, 1140x1022)
258 KB JPG
The other thing you should consider is how you cut your handguard retainer slot. The Groza doesn't use the existing slot. The Krink handguard retainer just flops around, acting like a washer for the barrel clamp to push the lower housing reward into the receiver. You can't cut another slot either because it's too close to the existing slot.

So, if you're using a virgin barrel, you could hypothetically cut your slot a bit more forward. Of course, this would preclude you from ever installing Krink handguards again without major shimming, but I think it would be more secure.

Originally they came from China so they were associated with that.
About 8 years ago Reddit found out about them and became a hallmark of a reddit rifle.
Reddit has since moved on from them as a fad, where we are now.

8m3 is great. Might be the best vs 2 legged prey 7.62x39 ammo you can get. But it's also unobtainium so you shouldn't use it for plinking ammo. M67 is also great and thankfully still being produced. It's also corrosive.

No. Any of the tiny batches Century has had since 2008 or so were either "found in the warehouse" on either side of the Atlantic or Romarm Cugir getting rid of 5.56 barrel blanks.
WASR-3s are used market guns, and they're all 20+ years old in nearly all cases.
If you want a brand new 5.56 AK, Zastava M90. Don't even think of Pioneer Arms or PSA. WBP is still ymmv on their 5.56 with accuracy and they are still prone to snapping firing pins.

I don't like the 1.5mm receiver on anything that isn't an RPK I have a modern m70 and m92 and they don't need to be that heavy. I also have a few dongs laying around and I want a 5.56 ak with a dong which rules out a Yugo. I really just want a draco in 5.56, between the forged hellpup and the PSA krink I would think most people here would take the Pioneer. Does anyone actually have hands on experience with the new 5.56 forged hellpup? I'm sure the hate is perfectly justified but are they really that much worse than 2026 WBP? >between the -maybe not a pipebomb anymore- and the -POS that's built like shit- I would think most people here would take the -maybe not a pipebomb anymore-
"Most people here" would avoid both because no one with sense wants to be the guinea pig when it comes to suspect guns; in this case, "being the guinea pig" has a sizeable non-zero chance of you needing reconstructive surgery if the gun kabooms, which is far more expensive than just buying a known "safe" product instead where the odds are far more in your favor.
Pioneer has a history of lying about their guns and who makes them, so you can't trust anything they say unless it's proven by outside testing. WBP has never tried to obfuscate that they may or may not be FB Radom like Pioneer has.
Beryl firing pins also don't fit in WBP 5.56 bolts either afaik. AoA has replacement WBP free-float pins (original ones were spring loaded, they might all be free-floating now but I'm not sure) for sale though, they're $20.

I may do something like that to my saiga
Just with everything welded in the correct spot, and one of pic rel threaded bushing if I can find/make one
Cheaper than paying $300 for ak100 components

Thank you for the links
>You hand make the ferrules too?
Yep. I had all the materials on hand, so it was cheaper to make it.

>maybe you're correct
To be fair It wasn't completely unexpected. In the pre-order promo, they warned that 7.62 users would likely have to choose between Dremeling a relief in their mags, chopping their grip, or buying an as of yet unreleased special grip. There's not a lot of these in the wild yet, but I have seen other people having to circumcise their 7.62 versions. Time will tell if I'll be vindicated or lambasted as a retard.

I see, so I was uninformed. My bad.
>but I have seen other people having to circumcise their 7.62 versions
That's kinda lame. Why not make the grip hole a few mm forward for the 7.62 versions then? Probably too big a pain to do multiple slightly different runs or something.
Guess they should've just stuck with this design instead of a Groza knock off, at least for 7.62x39 guns.
>Time will tell if I'll be vindicated or lambasted as a retard.
Total redemption, fren. A thousand apologies.
Hopefully you enjoy your Groza at home, despite my misgivings.

Krebs Customs is an option.

You could even pin and weld it on if you really wanted to.

Ah shit. Did you stake top and bottom, right in the center or a little offset?

How's the AK-12 (and its variants)?
>>
>>65228766
I have only played with one of those “CY” training/parade AK-12 parts kit that have been imported, field stripping is pretty cool, its looks cool, the furniture is all right, I personally think there is better after market furniture that performs better. Never shot it, but I can tell you is not worth the price of how much they go for.

I just staked the top. I'd just shoot and see if its an issue first.
