.45 lovers edition, conveniently .45 ACP is the caliber of choice for monster hunters since it carries the largest silver payload when fighting undead and other abominations.

I went with the compact, put a comp on it. Iirc heard mixed things about suppressing them. One thing I'd caution you about is having reasonable expectations. They're a neat gun with IMO a useful niche. They aren't really a fun gun to shoot though. Cramped little shits with mediocre triggers and more recoil than you'd expect.

I think it's been around about at least decade. I used to have a ccmg 45 guard ar that was advertised as being good for 450smc but the gun was a piece of shit and couldn't even cycle regular ass ball reliably. I think it's just super with a smaller primer maybe? But I don't reload, nor have I shot either, so I don't really know.

>>65257019
Unironically get the harbor freight light. I tried one in the store and it's bright as fuck, it did not care in the slightest that all the lights were on and put a nice beam on the ceiling anyway. It's ugly but if it's even half as durable as a tlr1 then it's good enough for me. Plus I'm sure it will share holster compatibility.

I also enjoyed Metro 2033, 2034, 2035. 2035 is the odd one out, it takes a different direction but still good. The game’s story and the books diverge after 2033

But the Monster Hunter International at least the first book of the 8 really turns the dial up on firearm accuracy. The metro series wasn’t super accurate or at least the translator didn’t know correct terminology. Pic related is the author, he has the correct opinion on red dots and knows how to shoot, I don’t know how good of an instructor he is but I’ve seen him attack other instructors for teaching bullshido so he’s on the right side.

As long at the 1911 isn't some stupid aluminum frame model, has a 22 or 24# recoil spring, and a fully supported chamber it should be safe with commercially available .45 Super loads. Reload at your own risk.

I’ve heard that Glock chamber support is not what it should be, but I’ve also heard Glock owners say that recoil springs are the only think that needs changed to shoot supers.
>>65257148
.450 SMC is indeed just a slightly improved .45 Super, with a stronger primer to prevent that area of the cartridge blowing out. Should be pretty much interchangeable; IIRC the primary reason it was created was because of an intellectual property legal issue with the name “.45 Super”.

The only problems I've had in 4,000 rounds are either ammo related (pic rel for example) or me related (broke a part by being dum)

There is wear on the receiver so I know it won't last forever, the manufacturer confirmed as much, but it's still truckin. If it ever breaks or dies I've no doubt Third Bay will replace it because any time I've had trouble they've bent over backwards to help or replace things. They've offered to replace it twice already, once when a Winchester case head separated and kaboomed inside (no problems found) and once if the me-break-part malfunctions I was having didn't go away with part replacement (which they did)

tl;dr Yeah it does, but it just werks

>that recoil springs are the only think that needs changed to shoot supers
Off the shelf .45 Super should be at or under 28,000 PSI of maximum case pressure. In theory modern G21s with 24# recoil springs should handle this with a stock barrel. It's when you go to "hotrod" ammo about the 28k threshold is when you'd need an aftermarket barrel with a fully supported chamber in addition to the extra power spring.
In theory.

Depends, I swap my flush mags for +2 capacity during the winter when I wear a jacket or heavier shirts and run flush the rest of the year.
>>
>>65257358
I usually try to have an adapter for the long magazine so I have some overtravel protection, otherwise you need to be careful when inserting a long magazine with the slide locked back, as overtravel (you go past the mag release) can destroy the ejector

I believe Taylor and Co, as well as Cimmeron, are Uberti revolvers but made to a higher standard and more accurate replicas. Their 1911s come from different makers, I think Rock Island Armory is still their source but also made to a higher standard and more clone correct.

I don't carry the largest because they have strike industries floorplates and I don't want anyone to see that but between the flush fit and the ones with the same capacity but with a pinky extension I tend to carry the latter. Optic cuts, mounting plates and electronic sights are a nightmare from what I've read on /hg/: fasteners the wrong dimensions or pitch, rampant Chinesium regardless of price point and warranty, alkaline death sentences, et cetera. That's a lot of trouble for something that Stoeger said wont make a difference at 10 metres or less. Take this video for example, his aim is purely instinctual and grip canted diagonally.

Also, lights and optics ruin the lines of a pistol.

That’s four range trips. I wouldn’t bother stockpiling in your position. Get a few boxes of defensive ammo to keep on hand and never shoot it. Worry about stockpiling once you get your money up. Especially stockpiling range ammo, this is dumb unless you’re buying in such bulk that you’re saving hundreds (you are not). Equipment is a one time expense, ammo is consumable you will always need more ammo. There will never come a time where you don’t need more ammo, so just get the light etc out of the way and then focus on training.

Single player games are usually pretty good for pistols because allowing you to build your character to use the weapon of your choice is more important than overall weapon balance.

Basic 115 grain ball ammo is perfect for the range. Just get 2-3 boxes of CCI blazer and you should be good. Don’t shoot your HPs unless you specifically want to train with those because they cost a lot more

save the JHPs, train with FMJ. 150-200 rounds of FMJ, it's much cheaper if you buy in bulk online. Have a plan on how you are going to shoot your ammo, dedicate 50-100 shooting slow, shoot "faster" with the other 50-100.

if you really want to get good, you should be dry firing at home, it's free and saves ammo. You'll have to do live fire but you can learn alot about trigger control and sights just dry firing.

some retailers are 200 dollars = free shipping, so a 1000 round case of 9mm is free shipping, so 250 bucks or so.

>>

That's not the point. The point is cops like to escalate as much as possible so that they can justify killing someone. It's why cops stand in FRONT of cars during altercations. It's the fucking dumbest place to be for self preservation, but it means if the car moves they get to waste the driver and claim self defense. It turns the mere act of evading police into a death sentence. Same with garage axeman. Why would you stand 3 feet away from a guy with an axe? He's clearly crazy, and it's not the safest place for you to be, nor should we just execute crazy people.
>>
>>65260620
Pretty sure if you're walking by a window in your home with a gun out and police are outside looking in, but haven't made contact yet, they can ventilate you
>>
>>65256362
How often do you guys train/study a day? I’m at 5 times a week

Also

I have parrots and I am constantly reminded why I love them and that they’re my best frens. One of the weird things my baby momma pointed out to me is that I only seem to add things into my life I genuinely love; I don’t want things with aesthetics, I don’t care about trends; it perplexed her that I could go home after a hard days work and spend time with my parrots and be perfectly content with life. She has a personality disorder that she made it a point to hide until after she was pregnant. But; whenever I’m by myself and have time to reflect I always notice there’s at least one parrot on my shoulder asking for kisses and a tear running down my eye with gratitude that I have a loving family and frens. You guys have no idea how nice it is to have so little from how much was taken away, but what little u have left is all you’ve ever needed
>>
>>65260620
lmao, yeah dumb cops. they're supposed to close their eyes and count to 30 while I try to run away. Not fair!
>>
>>65260594
Nope, some police model from a company that went out of business in 1915
>>
>>65260620
>but it means if the car moves they get to waste the driver
It's actually supposed to deter you from moving the car, they're hoping you won't try to run over a cop. Most people wouldn't do that. If you would, and they shoot you, good.
>>
>>65260648
Every day. Since I started I got my concealed holster draw from 1.5+ seconds to sub 1.0 seconds. I can hit .85 if I don’t aim

>>65260650 #
Or he could have waited for backup, stood more than 3 feet away, and they could have tased the guy. You're thinking like a cop because you're a bootlicker statist. You think the only options are to stand right in front of the guy, or close your eyes and count to 30, even though the option I provided is much safer for everyone, and the way most cops would have handled it. In my town, they wouldn't even confront a homeless guy with a butter knife without a riot shield and a k9

Anon, if i wanted to make myself as safe as possible, I'd call for backup with a k9, stand further away from the guy with the axe, and let the dog do the work. I would not stand directly in front of the guy.

There should be a higher standard for cops than there is for civilians. If you approach someone with an axe instead of walking away, then shoot him on his property, you will be convicted.

>>
>>65260795
No, without modification the shadow 2 is fairly drop safe. Tons of people have tested unmodified S2s. It’s cz mouth breathers that get extended firing pins and reduced firing pin springs that can make the gun go off if you induce enough inertia in the firing pin. A dude allegedly made one shoot his toe off with a quick enough draw from the holster, an RSO was killed by a dropped CZ as well.
>>

Is hand size an important factor in shooting when it comes to newgunz? I went to buy my first pistol but the dealer wouldn't bring out anything smaller than a compact because he said my hands were too big and I wouldn't be able to shoot it properly. Is this normal?
>>
>>65260980
>I'm new to pistols and have proportions of a monkey, give me microcompact REEEE

Yes. You can get very particular on grip size which makes guns with wide aftermarket grip/frame options more popular these days.

Right now my grip on my gun is a little too wide and it hurts my draw since my hand doesn’t find a consistent spot
>>
>>65260980
It can be. I have Skeleton hands with very long fingers, and for me, the subcompact p365 is extremely comfortable to shoot, and my ppk/s doesn't bother me in the least. But my dad has fat sausage hands, and he says both guns hurt pretty bad to shoot.

Because his latest videos coincide with the irons vs red dot discussion we've been having on /hg/. As you can see by his five-round group at five yards, a pistol optic wont make a difference if you haven't mastered the shooting fundamentals which is why buying more ammo to train with makes way more sense than investing in a RDS and mount.
