Questions that don't deserve their own thread
Free free to ask your dumbass questions that don't deserve their own thread right here so you don't kill a psyop or shill thread.

My dumbass question: Say I am curious about legally obtaining a transferable machine gun. How do I go about doing so? Like how do I actually set it up? I know the cheapest ones are like good used car prices. I'm thinking about cashing out some of my savings to get a MAC-10 or a Reisling for shits and giggles. Feel free to roast me or tell me what a dumbass I am for even considering this.
>inbf just get a FRT
I'm thinking about going that route too, but I want to able to go BRRRT at a range and be able to make funny faces and noises at any local, state, or federal law enforcement if they have an issue with that because I know I am 100% legal and I have the paperwork and tax stamp to back me up on that.
>>
>>65305441
I assume its basically the same as getting any other NFA item? Buy item, do bullshit paperwork.
>>
>>65305475
I dunno? I think you have to go to a special FFL to do the transfer. I'm pretty sure there are a few more steps than just buying a gun normally.
Neither the ATF website nor boomerbroker were helpful about what hoops you need to jump through in order to complete the process.

Is there a .22lr conversion kit out there that's compatbile with the BRN-180? I really like the AKB-203 but a rifle in that configuration is banned in my state unless it's in a rimfire caliber.
Considering the AKB-203 is little more than a range toy anyways I wouldn't mind a version in .22 but I haven't seen any kits that are explicitly compatible

Hey /k/, I need your help.
Got an AR9 PSA build goin on (I know).
Initially, I had a normal PSA AR-15 lower and installed a Stern Defense 9mm Glock magazine well conversion device, and slapped a PSA 9mm upper onto it, and it ran fantastically.

Now, I thought to get the Glock-mag PSA AR lower to replace the Stern-conversion lower, as the mag release is convenient.

Unfortunately, as I started to run it, my magazines' feed lips started to bend, and caused failure to feed (pic related).

Any suggestions?

Is this drawing actually correct that the "hole that the gas tube goes through" is 0.625" from the center of the upper receiver's main hole?

Measuring it with calipers I'm getting more like 0.77" and I vaguely sorta recall that it's 0.80"

I'm trying to make a personalized homemade barrel nut/handguard BTW. This offset directly impacts where the 20 or so holes that you put into one of those are located.

Gaaaaaaaaaaay. FRTs are legal in most NFA states and some non-NFA states. If your state is blue enough to ban NFA items then they probably also ban FRTs anyway. I think Oregon and Florida are the only ones that allow NFA but ban FRT (and Florida's ban is questionable because the statute was written shittily).
>>
>>65311506
Same guy who asked, still looking for the right dimension, just wanted to mention that I've been doing some thinking and realized that the numbers on the drawing are sort of reversed. The 0.625 apparently is the width from the center to the BOTTOM OF THE LOWER, and 1.408 must be from bottom to center of hole, so the correct distance (if the drawing is correct) is 0.783.

Still wondering if that's actually the right distance since I thought it was a rounder number like 0.8 rather than a bunch-of-decimal-places number like 0.783".

Warships typically have a similar powertrain to civilian ships, but because it's not a car it doesn't necessarily work the same way. They typically do have a gigantic gearbox in order to get a variety of outputs on their propeller shaft without having to rev the fuck out of their engines. I don't think they can do clutch dumps or if they did it probably would not be that useful because they are turning propellers in water rather than tires on pavement but I defer to anyone who has experience working on a ship in this regard.

Military trucks and jeeps tend to be automatic because that allows for an easier learning curve with recruits that sometimes don't have a driver's license and have never driven a wheeled vehicle before. Lots of people who have to train raw recruits have run into this problem. That said, in other countries where manual transmissions are standard and with older military vehicles they are manual. Tank transmissions also vary depending on the vehicle. Usually training a tank driver is more specialized than training a recruit to drive a Humvee, so the added complexity of managing a clutch isn't that much of a barrier.

It's basically a decision between open ye wallet and ass for H&K or buy Turkshit that's slightly less overpriced. I can vouch for MAC as a company because while it is Turkish they do at least have good warranty service. You probably won't need it because Turkish guns that aren't shotguns tend to be a little better, but if you have some moral aversion to buying Turkish guns on principle then you'll have to start saving money. A lot of money.
>>
>>65313169
FWIW the only problems I hear with Turk or Paki clones is that the extractor isn't perfect. And the fix is simple, just buy an HK extractor and install it. Ditto any other part you might consider replacing. Like the locking wedge (or was that the other HK roller gun clones?).

Why do indoor ranges jew you out so hard? Went shooting with a coworker to get him into guns. We were barely there for over an hour, I brought my own guns and ammo so no rentals/buying ammo there. Shit was almost $100. 6 month membership at an outdoor range is 275, yearly 425. Still a scam but it would be cheaper in the long run. Fuck this town
>>
>>65318209
It's a business. They set their prices depending on what they perceive their demand is. If people are willing to pay $100/session or $425 a year that is what they will charge.

This is usually because an indoor range is going to be located in an urban area with few viable alternatives around. For instance indoor ranges in my area charge about 1/5 of the prices you are paying because there's another one, multiple outdoor ranges and acres of public land all within a ~30min drive. They can't afford to charge more. If they did, they wouldn't get any business. Meanwhile your area probably has the one indoor range, miles of suburban sprawl, no public land and the nearest alternative is hours away still charging a fortune. It's more of a convenience tax.
It also takes a bit of money to operate an indoor range assuming they are doing it properly. Gotta pay a lot of employees to babysit retarded novice shooters and frequently clean out all the lead from the air filtration system. If they don't have an air filter system or at least a good one, they are being mega jewy and will probably get shut down once too many of their employees and customers get lead poisoning. I've seen that happen.

I thought of a new kind of trigger confidence. I call it "grip confidence." You wrap one hand around the slide, and if your grip is good enough, the slide won't move and your hand won't be burnt or torn.
What do you think?
>>
I just bought a brand new 10/22 takedown and I'm extremely satisfied with how ergonomic it is but are there any components that I should immediately upgrade? I understand that the new models already have a better trigger group so I'm leaving that alone. Sling kit recs? It's the one w/ magpul backpacker stock if that matters.

>pay ridonkulous taxes because industrial facility within city limits, so politicians jew you to the max
>have to fight all the gun control fanatics who want to shut you down

After my little suburb's city council tried to ban all guns within city limits (no possession at all, period), I sat in on city council meetings for a year. It was amazing the stupid shit they tried to regulate. They annexed a chunk of county land for the sole purpose of closing a liquor store on it because it was "near a high school". They decided to require licensing of "massage parlors" because OMG hookers sometimes set those up to jerk off lonely old men. And of course the total ban on gun possession within city limits -- a nearby city (Morton Grove) had banned handguns a few years earlier so our little bunch of dictators thought they'd one-up them.

And, years later, in another city I'd moved to, some employees of a gun range got the owner into a shitload of trouble with OSHA because he was storing the contaminated sand from the backstop in a bunch of 55gal drums when he replaced it after a few years of being blasted full of lead projectiles. The range eventually shut down, in part because of that.

Did anyone happen to catch one of those "truth about [popular military movie]" video essays about Siege of Jadotville, about an hour long?
I had it recommended by youtube months ago, watched a few minutes and thought it was interesting but I had something else to do so I forgot about it, I went to look for it recently and I can't find it. Maybe the uploader messed up and took it down or just had his account struck, but it started off by explaining the historical context of the Irish UN mission and I wanted to finish watching.
If it's gone and someone watched it at least let me know if it was actual good historical content or just 50 minutes of whining about the movie.

Am I the only person sick of people on the internet endlessly doing the "look at me! Look how much I know!" in regards to trigger discipline? By which I mean I've seen pics of say WW2 soldiers with their fingers inside the trigger guards and then seemingly endless comments screeching about it. Like who are they doing this for? (Rhetorical, I know it's for attention and self validation). Acting like know it alls without thinking about historical context for even a second.

Similarly the autism about open dust covers in ARs smells of the same. It's a good practice to close them, but I've seen xitter threads where somebody poses their gun for a pic with the cover open and people lose their minds even though it's just a photo op. I've also seen pics of soldiers in motion with people ragging on it, like soldiers moving from position to position under fire with open fist covers and basement operators nitpicking.

Most people don't understand the idea behind rules and principles. They don't understand the hierarchy of importance. They don't trust themselves or others to make informed decisions. They just adopt rules as religious dogma and enforce them through social shaming so that they can feel higher on the social hierarchy, which is more real to them than physical reality.
