I'm building an AR using the Faxon .875 adjustable gas block. Having a hard time finding an mlok rail that works with it. Rough estimate puts the radius at the widest point at about .875". Any suggestions? The adjustment knob bump out on the side seems to be part of the issue too.

Guys the surplus store is selling blue ESAPIs why are they blue
>>
>>65320246
Many things are dyed blue by soaking them in a blue dye that bonds to the material. Different dyes are used for different fabrics, such as cotton, wool, or synthetic fibers. The material is first cleaned, then placed in the dye bath so the color is absorbed evenly. After dyeing, it is rinsed and dried to produce a bright, long-lasting blue color.

Most of the light in other visible wavelengths are absorbed, but a relatively large amount of blue light is reflected. Hope that helps.

my PSA JAKL just shipped from the 4th sale what am I in for bros? my coworker has one and he’s a gun savvy guy shoots a few times a year and has like 5 AR15’s kitted out with flash lights and laser and a cool red dot with green/blue settings.
>>
>>65320246
Okay, actual reason, they're "Heavy" ESAPIs produced during early-mid GWOT with the weight requirements waived so they can use cheaper Alumina or SiC strike faces versus the ESAPI's Boron Carbide. This was to make up for shortages.
An unintended benefit is that the blue ESAPIs are not subject to B4C amorphization failure versus tungsten threats and do better than pre Rev. G versus M995, and are less brittle so multi-hit is better, but they are much heavier.

Shitting all by yourself handsome or can I get a source?

Stupid question but what is the best handguard for a 20” barrel with an A frame front sight gas block that is also affordable and light weight?
I’ve been having a lot of fun goofing around innawoods with my beater A4 with regular old A2 handguards and want something solely for sticking a light on and maybe a vfg, I don’t care about it needing to be stable enough for IR or anything like that. I’ve been using either a small pic rail mounted to the front sight to mount a light or just full ghetto taping one on when hiking around and camping and I just want a better way to mount a light. Pic rail, mlok, keymod I don’t care; I just want lightweight and affordable and stable enough that beating the rifle around in the mountains isn’t going to rip the light off.
>>
>>65320654
>I’ve been using either a small pic rail mounted to the front sight
What happened to it?
>>
>>65320660
I still have it, I’m just tired of cable management with tape to get my pressure pad back far enough or having to reach all the way forward to use my thumb without using a pad. It’d be nice to be able to mount the light just slightly back and mount the pressure pad securely to a section of rail instead of just taping it and the tape getting all gunky and sweaty with time.

this if you can find it. But you can also go alternative routes like Midwest Industries, 11.5" two piece handguard. Maybe even the cheapie Magpul two-piece handguard too if you just want to be cleaner on your accessories. I think Strike Industries also have a slip-on thin handguard for a similar price. If you were willing to spend this money, I would consider a modern slim gasblock and a modern mlok handguard. Opens your rifle up to modularity- one of the top reasons to even get an AR platform.

So I was mentioning it earlier but does anyone own an actual ACR? They seem like super cool guns and I lusted for one as a kiddo, but they flopped like three times. Which makes sense, they were sold with shit barrel lengths, little support, and like none of the promised features and cost a fuckton of money. Not to mention it was made by fucking bushmaster and Remington, some of the worst companies out there for QC and just general quality. Is there any chance for the ACR to make a return (with some nice adjustments to make it actually competitive) and what is its legacy on the market today?

Well, well. Look at the city slicker pulling up with his fancy German AR
>>
>>65322082
I desperately want one. Not just for looks but they do seem like a genuinely good design that got fucked by the equivalent of PSA before PSA making them. But yeah I think you’re right, they’re never coming back. If they did sell them again they’d probably make the same mistakes and have it flop a fourth time. For it to succeed now I think they’d have to make it accept AR grips, triggers, metal lower options maybe, good barrel lengths like 11.5” and 14.5”, and have a decent company make them. And if they can be sold for less than 2500 I think they’d really have a chance on the market

>The SIG Sauer SIG516 shares lineage with the Heckler & Koch HK416. The principal firearms engineers for the SIG516 were Robert Hirt and Chris Sirois. Following his time with Heckler & Koch, Hirt was recruited by SIG Sauer to work with then SIG engineer Chris Sirois on an improved version of the HK416. The SIG516 omitted many proprietary HK416 components that were exchanged for standard (M4 carbine mil spec conform) components. Other HK416 issues like the (at the time) high cyclic rate, which causes lower life cycle, a gas vent, which showed up in low light conditions, and safety issues (i.e. the need for a firing pin safety) were also addressed. Hirt and Sirois later designed the SIG716 and SIG MCX/SIG MPX. They were later recruited by Caracal to develop the CAR 816 series.

Idk anon, seems slept on.

Spooks are using 6arc so you'll see more movement that direction - nas3, ICAR (picrel) mags, there are some secret projectiles floating around out there as well

6.5g can match the BC with heavier bullets, I guess it just depends on how flat you want to shoot, and if the projectile weight is in the range you will utilize for critters. 6ARC has institutional momentum and I think it can only be surpassed by longer 6.5 like LICC/264USA which also has a nas3 case, but only in one platform at the moment in a testing program
>>
>>65322590
The only concern about the new hotter cartridges being developed is that even if we get our hands on them, will they blow up our rifles. G$'s 6 arc builds use that reinforced receiver (that I wish you could buy). How much of a risk would you be running using the NAS3 case with standard 556 receivers? However, I have been leaning more towards 6 Arc just because new shiny and exciting activates neuron.

XCR bolt handles both without issue and I've loaded 5.56 near HICAR velocities (200fps slower than their program target) without issue. I know one individual with an XCR 6arc that had issues with stuck cases and after that was resolved he's seeing pressure signs (punctured primers), but I'm sure they'll get it sorted out. I haven't fired 6ARC much hotter than bolt spec, and don't have nas3 for it (yet)
Out of an AR I'd expect shorter bolt life with the spicy loads, and unless they utilize a larger bolt face (308 eg mutant) I don't see high pressure 6ARC being sustainable unless your bolt replacement schedule is something like 2000rds
>>65322631
I like being able to go between all the memes, but especially 5.56 and 7.62x39
My POU is shooting bears in the face when they become problematic. 5.56 is inadequate for that usually . Bren parts availability (there isn't any) has been a problem for both the bren1 and 2 AFAIK

XCR is better due to being American made. Fuck CZ and Colt for being European owned and destroying guns.

I dont have any experience with those, but >>65322806 poses a very good option. I had no issues running my TA-31 and RMR2 for a 2 gun match I did. Murdered the "long portion" which was just 100 yd steel plates all lined up.

I've heard good things about the holosun magnifiers though, pretty sure some scandinavian countries even use them as standard issue. My only gut reaction to them is that they look long af (depending on the model).

Why bother looking inside the receiver to see what's obstructing the bolt? Just throw it in the box and ship it with the dust cover open and the bolt and charging handle hanging out the back. I don't know why a civilian would buy one and it'll probably lose to the Bren among militaries.
>>
>>65322929
oh yeah forgot about that one. I would say FN would make for an amazing rifle. All those decades manufacturing the Colt patent M4 Carbine from their blueprints, they should have learned enough to make a durable rifle. I just dont like that they still make a short carbine-type handguard with exposed barrel. They still have a short one like a 90s M4 or something, while everyone else is going the modern route. The models with the handguard past the adjustable gas block looks promising. Any "AR" innovation that involves remove the need for an external receiver extension/buffer tube is welcomed. That was one of the main weaknesses of the platform.

Alright, finally decided on what to do for my 11.5 and 416. 416 is gonna get the T2 on a LT660 mount and get the quad rail back for a retro look. 11.5 is gonna get a romeo 4t pro with g33, unsure if I'm gonna use the unity mount or drop it down to a lower 1/3 but leaning toward the latter. I was planning on a razor gen 2 for the 11.5 originally but decided against it

some piston system rifles dont change dimension wise from DI milspec. You choose risers depending on equipment- like if some devices block your line of sight.

You might have to shoot at another neighborhood though.

Instead of trying to mentally game what if scenarios is way more useful to learn the key terrain of your area and understand how to establish a COC.

If you enjoy AR-15s for the prepper reasons but you are a fireteamlet you aren't going to have to even worry about living X number of months in Y scenario.

Speed matters. Acting fast to be a controlling force in the area requires a chain of command and if you are hiding in your basement skintone checking people with magnified optics you are already pissing away time and forfieting ground.

USA can barely agree on gun laws on the per-state basis. You think it won't Balkanize and be WORSE? Atleast during that time, those countries are comprised of similar ethnic people. What more with the US being a mixture now? You think darkies will care about civility and wont just riddle your mom SUV fulla holes the minute they see it? kek

I can say with near 100% certainty it won't. Look at what you are comparing, Yugoslavia was a bunch of religious/ethnic groups which have already been fighting each other for millenia forced together into a pretend country. Even the idea of the US entering a 2nd civil war is laughable. Doomtards like you think we are heckin minutes away from the downfall of society when we are in the most prosperous period of human history to date.

>we are a major oil exporter
For every 100 barrels exported, we import about 155 barrels. This is mostly economically driven but if tomorrow markets pushed that 155 down to untenable levels you would be living in a collapsed USA tbqh. The only reason gas is $4/gal and not $20/gal is because we are draining the SPR. At that point the real price of goods goes through the roof and people are incentivized to kill you for your can of beans.
>But we just ban exports
Doesnt matter, refineries are optimized for a different kind of oil. The efficiency drop and catalyst consumption would still push the price through the roof.
>Build more refineries
1) no its heckin bad and you cant!
2) too late lol
3) Still doesnt drive the price of gas down

All of this would spike the average price of an AR15 massively which would result in even more offtopic posting. By anons which in turn would result in less effortposts to drive thread engagement.

it's not "mostly" it's entirely economically driven. Oil only needs to be above ~$60 barrel to be above break even cost for fracking. Imagine getting scared of an oil crisis in the US in 2026 when we literally are the world's biggest exporter.
>>65327552

Well duh, but in times of low governmental control/order those kinds of groups tend to form. Whether you can join or not is one thing, but they probably will exist in one facet or another.
>from who?
Well if you have a train hub you could probably get food or fuel shipped in from places that have that, say the Midwest or Texas if those train lines are still up. Or if you have a port or river access, same thing but from some farther places. If even these limited lines of supply go down though maybe it’s joever, but it’s unlikely to happen barring like the rest of the planet disappearing

you could have made a better argument with climate change but you're stupid.

The average American has the material conditions comparable to most royalty of ancient times.
>>
>>65327636
Yeah but the average American has no real frame of reference for how those royals lived so it doesn’t really matter as a point. The late Romans lived better than the Greeks or celts did yet they still collapsed into warlords and barbarian invaders
>>
>>65327626
actually there's plenty to tell what could happen, it's called studying context. The future isn't a vacuum formed from nothing, everything is causal even if we can't pinpoint the exact cause clearly.

Read a few American ethnographies and you'll quickly realize we aren't going to start killing each other over... wait what exactly would people be fighting over in this scenario?

Yeah they collapsed because of a multitude of material and cultural conditions that America currently doesn't have. Whether you focus on the few parallels and not the reams of differences if up to you.

>>
>>65327641
I wouldn't call the Roman empire schism a "collapse into warlords", the empire literally split in two. The sacking of Rome didn't happen till 15 years later FYI and Rome (the city) was not the capitol and well into decline at that point. Also, it's not like the Italian peninsula was Mad Max after that, there was an active war going on with the Goths. Sometimes cities get sacked in war.
>>
>>65327667
Well not really, western Rome mainly fell due to the fuckhuge invading armies that came one after another after another. Regardless that wasn’t the point, the point is that people just don’t have a frame of reference for that. You can say people live better than ancient kings but they have no idea how ancient kinds, let alone peasants, lived. If they feel they’re poor as fuck and at the bottom, that’s how they’re gonna feel
>>
>>65327680
Idk why youre talking about the split, when I said collapse into warlords I mean the various Roman and Germanic warlords splitting off the empire into various kingdoms and personal realms. Like the visigothic warlords declaring their kingdom, the vandals keeping theirs, the Roman army of Italy establishing the ostrogothic kingdom, Roman commanders establishing the Soissons rump state, shit like that.
>>
>>65327682
>that’s how they’re gonna feel
no, that's how you feel because you are abdicating from all agency to request a pity party for no reason.

>>65327746

Because it doesn’t really matter in terms of how people react to things. Revolutions happened when people lived far better than their immediate ancestors. Knowing you live well compared to medieval or ancient kings doesn’t really mean much for the normie if this is all they know
>>
>>65327831
>Because it doesn’t really matter in terms of how people react to things
it does if you are arguing a heckin rebellion is right around the corner because of living conditions.
>>
>>65327841
No that’s probably where it matters the least. It’s not about actual changes to lifestyle and living conditions, it’s about perceived changes. They could still live relatively well all things considering but if they feel as though they’ve hit rock bottom with zero opportunities, that’s how they’re gonna feel
>>

>>
>>65327849
I think it actually matters a great deal in this context. Living conditions certainly have instigated many rebellions throughout history but I'm not trying to say it's impossible for a rebellion to occur if current living standards are higher than the past. "Things are changing" is the nature of the universe and that by itself is not a unifying manifesto for rebellion, especially when enjoying a high standard of living.
I mean you as an average Greek vs average Roman citizen, is there much difference? Take your average living standard now vs even just 100/ years ago and that's an order or magnitude more different.

I didn't say those were reasons for Rome's decline I was referring to two arbitrary but poignant differences in roman vs American culture. Idk what the not really is referring to. Americans do not a need a frame of reference, I am basing what Americans do off what Americans are like and have done in similar situations in the past, and despite being captivating the niggering out is a surprisingly small portion of that behavior to expect.

I am talking about material conditions, not relative cultural perception. It really doesn't matter if Americans "feel" they live better than ancient kings or not, most Americans would prefer air conditioning, entertainment, and grilling to being forced to rendezvous at some colombian-ass FART (FREEDOM of AMERICANS RETARDING TYRANNY) compound or rally the Discord kitties to your Slam Ranch OR coordinate anti-cartel sleeper wuggies across colorado via drone interpretive dance. Any and all of these scenarios rely are only realistic as endemic, isolated cases (much like many to the real life American boogs) and cannot realistically become anything more than regional problems.

I'm not even an incel or a neet I just don't subscribe to the logic that niggers will sprout out of the ground and start killing people. I also don't subscribe to the logic that having guns and shooting them will somehow make you MORE vulnerable.

Tbh if you think niggers are supersoldiers you might as well stand with israel

Pretty much any of those except for PSA you don't have to worry much about QC. However, DD and G$ are likely overpriced MSRP for what you're getting, but it's best to wait or find a deal or discount for those.

Kac is investment grade. PSA is a great value proposition IF YOU HAVE THE TOOLS AND KNOWLEDGE AND DESIRE TO QC YOURSELF.

Enjoying the watch. The SKS with detachable magazines are interesting to see. I wonder what model exactly they are. Perhaps Chinese SKS D?
Also I'm super curious why so many of the AKs seem to have their stocks removed?

What is small arms ownership like in Albania today? What happens when the entire small arms stores of a state military just ends up in the hands of the general population?

Kek impressive if you wrote that yourself. You might be right. Might also be wrong. Subjective relative perception is a hell of a drug. Cost benefit analysis exists to an extent on a sliding scale.

>>65328597
BCM. Super fucking gay that their Mk2 upper chrome lined 11.5" has a government profile barrel.

>>65328639
Assuming not b8, neither. Do not buy anything from Sig. Not only trash, but they're a part of the jew corrupt military industrial complex. Not one but TWO corrupt US Army general got jobs at Sig after they retired from the Army, one of which was the faggot Scott Miller who oversaw the Afghanistan withdrawal.

This is why I took it as a personal insult when you implied I don't like making wuggyposts out of the context of the lament to A2; wherein the complaint was the amount lost in translation between A2 and I when discussing more abstract ideas.

Although as always many misspellings because I don't spell check enough here. Sloppy stuff.

Don't get an Aimpoint T2 either. Overpriced and under-featured. I'm not going to lie the market is hard to keep up with these days and I'm bit out of the loop, but last I heard the Holosun ARO is good to go. I've had several Holosun red dots and no issues and they're well regarded at this point.
If you want to try something fun check out the Zentinel Defense HS-Vigil. Looks cool to me, solid features.

>>65328695
>very annoying
Just do a build bro. For real. It is easy if you're even moderately mechanically inclined IMO. Then you can get a sweet modern optimized profile chrome lined 11.5" barrel, rail of your choosing etc etc.
Hell put a riflespeed on there to get it ready for suppressors and FRTs etc.

You could build it around this barrel:
https://bravocompanyusa.com/bcm-standard-11-5-carbine-enhanced-light-weight-stripped-nfa/

Or this barrel seems cool too if you're going for more heat management.
