Your First Rifle EditionOld: >>65328880
My first rifle was basically OP with sightmark instead on a DPMS with the picatinny gas block my dad got me. Pic related is the first rifle I built a few years later.
>>65335143My first was a yugo mauser. I don't have any pictures of it.
mr223.14.5 good ?
>>65335143I got an SKS from a pawn shop when I was like 20 and it was pretty great, but I ended up selling it because I wanted an AK. I wish I held on to both. I still have my first firearm tho, a mossberg 500.
>>65335143This was taken when I got back home to my shitty Baltimore townhouse. Notice the HBAR barrel thanks to Maryland gun laws. Sold to me for $650 which isn't the worst price for a complete rifle + the poortex red dot and a goyselle trigger pack.
I have to revise my statement, my first was this hunting rifle my dad got me. my AR was the first one I actually paid for.
mine was a Stag "Stag-15" with the retro furniture at 16". Bought on a whim during 2020 time (they were the only company that had any stock left) and was of good quality. Only thing that I would change is the phosphate BCG- maybe a different barrel profile too, but it ran thousands of rounds flawlessly.
>>65335187*Rowhouse
>>65335179get a brn4
The first rifle I purchased was a moist nugget, followed by a saiga in 5.45. As was a the style at the time. Both have since been sold.Picrel was my first non piece of shit rifle, and first AR. I still have it. Want to say this is from like 2012
>>65335187Maryland really is retarded for such a pointless ban. "Muh assault weapon features! By God the government uses thinner barrels! Makes it easier to kill people!"I really wish people just understood guns and werent retarded
>>65335143
>>65335223>By God the government uses thinner barrels! Makes it easier to kill people!"its more so they dont fear the threat of civilians (their enemies) using those grenade launchers that fit on those specific M4 barrels against them
>>65335218I have a request if anyone has a 9.0 DD mfr gen 1. I don't want to buy it I just want to see it in a certain config
First AR-15, second rifle (Mosin was first duh!). Mix of a RRA lower and Bushmaster faux dissy upper with a knockoff red dot. Bought it from a guy off ARFCOM that was local in 2011. I still use the upper and lower receivers but the parts have been swapped out over time.
>>65335282Based as FUCK man
My beloved. My baby. My first.
>>65335190I found an old pic of my AR. my brother gave me the carry handle so I used that instead of the magpul irons that came on the gun.
>>65335190Nice, was that the one that came with the scope as a package deal? Pretty based gift for a son, tbqh.
>>65335290What upper is that? That isn't centurion is it?
>>65335293The upper receiver is a BCM MK2
If your first rifle is an AR you are basically a nogunz. A boys first rifle is supposed to be a 22. 10/22 preferably. If you didn't have a rifle by 12 years of age your father didn't love you.
>>65335296I didn't remember the BCM having that bulge (lol) there.
>>65335302How about a 308?
>>65335290>was that the one that came with the scope as a package deal?yeah. my family was/is big into hunting, so when we outgrew the youth model .243 our dad would buy us our own rifle.
>>65335302Based bootstrap pullers
My first rifle was a RIS3
>>65335282What is it like now?
>>65335302growing up, my family didn't have a .22. we we just went straight to full power hunting rifles.
>>65335305Its the MK2 upper
>>65335353Im a retard lmao, missed this >>65335296
>>65335302I didn't have a rifle until I was 28
>>65335337Upper is on a 11.5" SBR (notice the ejection port door color). Lower currently has a Colt 6520 upper on it.
>>65335407Oh cool. I also have a hodgepodge 11.5 with a bcm handguard. An lpvo would be an interesting choice on it. I have one I could try maybe I'll do that this weekend.
>>65335353All good, I just didn't remember it looking like that. Thought it looked like pic and didn't recognize it.
Geissele bros, our response?
>>65335223>I really wish people just understood guns and werent retardedif they did. u kno frts would get insta banned
>>65335459Yeah they're never like "oh wow I was wrong" they're like "okay lets ban that too."
>>65335430It is over priced if you pay full price, but otherwise ... it's the same price as BCM...
>>65335482The sales suck now thoulgh
>>65335482>if you don't pay full price, it's cheaperwow, anon. what other profound insights do you have for us?
My…blems…
>>65335494The only time you should buy BCM is during sales too.
>>65335494One fish two fish, red fish blue fishNick nack paddy wack give a dog a bone
Just buy HK
>>65335521Don't do this, it makes mustard gas.
>>65335430Everything he said is valid t b h
>>65335521I know this is a silly thing to nit pick, but I have never liked the look of HK handguards for ARs. They're too tall for my taste.
>>65335556Where to that handguard?
>>65335302>you are basically a nogunznigga I was poor. I already had a few tools- mainly handguns and shotguns. When I saw YNs in my city during 2020 with their longboys did I want something as well.
>>65335553Dude what? That’s my favorite part wtf
SCAR 16 or MR556? More or less the same price.
>>65335615If you’re not getting either on sale/deal then I’d do a SCAR personally
>>65335430Trvke>>65335615Mr556a4 just drippier imhho
>>65335430>actively fielded by zoggood enough for my requirements
>>65335651>mr556a4>completely unlined barrel>not even nitride>not even stainlesshaving to oil your barrel within 4 hours of shooting to avoid rust just does not sound appealing. And if you forget, even once...
>>65335671>namefag doesn't know what he's talking aboutcolor me shocked
>>65335678It's super dense chf steel too, so you know it'll rust instantly. Imagine having to give precision-rifle-tier care to an 11.5 gas gun. Oh wait, H&k guys don't actually shoot. Hurts the resale value.

>>65335683Oh neat, thanks.
I am going to credova a BRN-4
Some literal nigger at Gayslee was painting witness marks on fasteners and then AFTER doing so applying final torque, obviously not understanding at all what the fuck the purpose of witness marks even is. Gayslee then coped by saying it was there standard assembly SOP to do so, torque after witness markings.2026Hilarioushttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U3lzrhjJqg&t=245s
Black, grey, or tan brownells aluminum mags?>>65335615Between those two options, it's SCAR.
>>65335692Save, then buy. Interest bad.
>>65335700No
>>65335696What do you tow with that hitch?
>>65335143My first was an 18" mid length with an apex gator grip forend. It still has a 5x Primary Arms prism. The barrel was a stainless from some long defunct company called Ice Arms. It took forever to get it, and they sent me two by mistake.
>>65335696Witness marks might not be for end-user torque confirmation and for different manufacturing-step processes. There's a lot of dumb hyper-specific steps in manufacturing processes I've seen in the aerospace industry that are purely because of cost efficieny or FAA compliance. I don't know the full details so I can't say either way, but yeah we shouldn't be so quick to assume the main function of those witness marks without context. there was one machining process I had to do where I made .010 grooves in plastic fuel gauges with an ancient gauge checker for the lines that would end up all being laser-marked anyway. Why did I have to waste a full work day in labor hours scoring a few dozen plastic pipes before being lasered? I don't know man
>>65335700> brace
>>65335700Guy on the right is fun and down to earth, you can bring him around different friends and family and he won't be obnoxious.Guy on the left is always greyman maxxing and is built like Lucas botkin and keeps bringing politics up unnecessarily. Oh and all his takes are reddit fox news.
>>65335700That's not a rifle otherwise why would it have a brace
>>65335700The schizoid that believes he's going to live out his soldier fantasies vs the guy that just enjoys collecting guns.
>>65335143Not only the first rifle I ever owned but also the first gun I ever shot. Just wish I had more of a reason to take her out to the range or even in competition for shits and giggles but this thing's kind of a pig to actually use and I'd rather just bring my PSA+Aero shitstick 9 times out of 10 so she remains a safe queen.
>>65335710Guy on the left is upside down on his lifted pavement princess truck
CAT suppressors are so boring looking. Visually they look like YHM or some budget brand. Like for that price you couldn't put any knurling in? No dimples? No fat cans? Barely any flash cap I just can't bring myself to buy one.
>different than things cost different money
>>65335718Sig should make a can for the budget conscious girlies like us
>>65335700>PSA owner on the left with training and experience>average /arg/ Discord larper on the right with expensive painted art project rifles for social media photo shoots
>>65335721At least the sig copium (hexium) actually looks cool.If you're 3d printing the god damn thing, at least put a pattern on it.

>>65335718>CAT suppressors are so boring looking. And that's a good thing. Only tasteless overstimulated pleb shit heads like you want over-greebled ugly bullshit.
>>65335721Forgot Pic.
>>65335732Let's see your AR. I expect no aesthetic chasing whatsoever.
>>65335718>i want my weapon purchases to have a bunch of extra lines and contours and dimples and knurling and other pointless complexity so it looks like a cool spaceship from jewish movies

>>65335737Suppressors are for life, and I'm most likely going to be staring at it in the corner of my bedroom for the next thirty fucking years. it can at least look cool. Especially for $1200.
Bring back tasteful knurling. I shouldn't have to suffer a dead air can to acquire it
New Griffins look nice but sadly I decided that dual lok is ugly. Recessed plan B is the only way to go.Sadly, due to this new revelation I'm doomed to a life of suppressor covers (basically brown bagging it, but for cans)
Some of the printcel cans do go overboard though.Uuuugly

>>65335815I dunno what you wanna know but it was my grandpa's, he passed away in 2012 and it sat in the gun safe until grandma passed away in 2023 and then went to me. I've only put like 4 or 5 mags through it myself and I'm pretty sure he only took it out like a couple times. It's front heavy as a bitch with the tri rail, gas system and barrel qd all up there. Trigger is standard milspec and nothing to write home about. The lower and upper mate up kinda loosely on mine, dunno if that's a common thing or just this one. The stock is as good as everyone says it is and the ergonomics are very comfortable, the bolt catch is an especially neat feature that I wish more guns had. That's about all I've got off the top of my head. I actually literally just finished replaying the mw2 campaign today again (internet was out all day the other day and I went ahead and started that up to kill time) and it made me wanna trick this gun out. But since templar is the only company making anything at all for the ACR literally everything for it is expensive as fuck and I'd really rather put that money towards the stuff I actually use, otherwise I'd have this thing SBR'd with a short barrel and an aluminum lower. There have been a few times I've thought about trading it for something I know I'll have more fun with but then I take it out and know I'd regret that very much. I love it for sentimental reasons but I wouldn't recommend getting one unless you REALLY have the desire and the money to burn for a nostalgia piece.
>>65335218Signal is considered harmful
>>65335708Even in the drawings it's cucked.
>>65335889Ah okay, fair enough. Idk you did a pretty good job answering my vague question lmao. It’s just such a cool rifle and I’ve always wanted to shoot one, but never meet your heroes yk.If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your main squeeze? And how does the ACR compare to it in terms of shooting characteristics, handling, and reliability? Just so I have a metric for comparison I guess lol sorry for the flood of questions
>>65335756what's wrong with cutwater
>>65335902I'll be honest I'm not much of a rifle guy in the first place. Handguns and shotguns are more my thing, I only have one other AR and it's just a $200 PSA upper on an Aero lower with an lmb2s in it which I threw together for 2 gun and 3 gun use. Can't say much on shootability and reliability of the ACR since I've barely shot the thing, shoots like an AR I guess and it's gone bang every time. Haven't done any real drills or precision shooting with it if that's what you wanna know about. If you ever find one for rent or something then by all means give it a go, I just don't think it's all THAT great as a rifle due to the weight and parts scarcity/price.
>>65335921Fair enough, thanks for being straight up anon
>>65335902Not the other ACR anon, but I do have one I traded a 551A1 for a while back. Basically agree with everything he said, especially the front-heaviness. I have since built out a set of URGIs that are far more pleasant to carry, and I use those as my go-to 5.56 rifles. As much as I would also like to sell or trade it, I agree that it just wouldn't be right. Yes, it's heavy, obsolete, and has basically no aftermarket unless you have too much time and money to waste. But it's such an iconic piece that it would be a shame not to have that piece of firearms history in your own collection.Prowl small auction houses if you really want one. A local one in TX had a black one go for $1200, I wish I bid on it.
>>65335949People on here have way better first rifles than I did. Mine was absolutely atrocious

How many of you guys with collapsible stocks keep it fully collapsed when shooting? The LoP is like 10" which is crazy short compared to pretty much any fixed stock rifle, so certainly that can't be a comfort preference, right?
>>65335994Just in my experience, I only ever fully collapse it for like transporting it around or in vehicles, shit like that. Besides that, I find the most comfortable length with my equipment and keep it at that. With fixed stocks, specifically the A2 stock, I find it extremely comfortable for any sort of shooting without armor. With armor on, or when shooting from less than ideal positions, fixed stocks kinda suck and I find myself having to physically move my face closer to optic and whatnot. Otherwise get fucked, should’ve gotten a red dot. That’s where collapsing stocks really come in handy, just having it adjusted perfectly to where it’s comfy with armor and I can just make it a little longer if without armor
>>65335977None.
