How dogshit are RRA's national match A2's? The prospect of a freefloat-barrel A2 with a bearable trigger out of the box at a reasonable price appeals to me.

S&W is the only brand that matters

In a world of LaRue MBT2s, thier 2-stage isn't worth the money.

Super Duty, but LWRC is a strong argument as they are apparently the best lockup on the market. Zero rail flex.

Too late.
>>
>>65346976
mainly because the manufacturers actually test the guns so it has a better chance of always going bang than whatever you put together.

By necessity, you would also have to test things if you’re installing them. Considering the lackluster QC in most firearms manufacturers, your shit rod is probably gonna be more reliable out of the gate than a complete rifle

I live in NJ and I have a 16 inch AR. now that we can uncuck them what muzzle device and stock are good? Do I just get a mill spec buffer tube, fagpul CTR stock, cut the factory pin and weld muzzle device off and get an A2 flash hider or is there a better option for a stock and muzzle device than a CTR stock and A2 flash hider?
state law still bans cans so getting a muzzle device that can QD to a can isn't a consideration

Connecticut and Illinois's AWB cases. Theoretically they could or should have added NJs but they added the CT and IL ones before the 3rd circuit was resolved and created the circuit split. that was probably intentional. the antis/NJ probably were dragging their feet in order to try to make the scotus wait until 2028 to take the AWB cases.
either way I highly doubt Thomas, Kav and Alito are taking an awb case if they didn't think they would win. It honestly might even go 9-0 or like 9-0 in some parts because Kagan already said ARs were in common use in the dicta for the case where the jewish mexcian roastie president sued Smith and Wesson and Sotomayor said semi auto rifles were in common use in the dissent to the bumpstock ban case

Bought this Wilson Combat bolt upgrade kit because from my research, similar parts were updated from Colt and FN in the early-2000's. Threw it on my milspec bolt carrier group and it didn't work. The single gas ring just let all the gas through. The reinforced springs just led to feeding and extracting issues. Shit was ass- how do gun companies get away with $6USD garbage products? Maybe it was meant to work with super oldschool phosphate BCG but still. Threw it in the garbage. I was so pissed I wasted all this ammo thinking its some insane gas issue my rifle was having.

No, but I'm wondering if I'm either just not used to suppressed DI guns, as the 416 was my only suppressed SBR prior to now. I was using a cheap toolcraft bcg just to function test it so I'm wondering if that could maybe be doing something as well

you push this pin down with the screwdriver
simply depressing the lever isnt the same thing.
it needs to go down farther. the lock should also be open.
alternativly you can tie string around that pin and pull down.

It goes in about 3 inches. Does this mean I'll need to keep the string apparatus if I ever want to adjust this thing?
>>
>>65348367
you need to pull down farther to clear this.
once its on the tube then the lever works to slide between holes.
you only need to pull the pin down all the way to install or remove the stock.

Oh okay thanks, that sounds like what's going on. I appreciate the help.
>>
>>65348387
its stopping after 3inchs cause the pin is hitting the back of the buffertube.
you need the pin all the way down to clear it.
its possible to pull the pin with just finger strength but its easier to use tools.

Jaguar Fatty Inconel 762 is pretty meh. They fucked up by spec'ing the can into being lower back pressure, so for the weight and size the at muzzle suppression while better than a traditional can, isn't as good as I was hoping or expecting. Actually very surprised at how low the back pressure is. Significantly less than a fucking B&T PrintX Mini 556k which is like a micro can. Way less than an Omega 300, which is on the higher back pressure side for sure. All of the work I did tuning the LR300blk project to the Omega 300 basically is out the window. Gun wasn't cycling subs at all with the 0.113" port that I had arrived at for the Omega. Opened up to 0.120" and gun cycles subs and supers well, but doesn't lock back on either in their respective WAR settings. Rounded off the fucking upper receiver charging handle latch by shooting supers using the subs aperture just for testing purposes and now when shooting supers the charging handle fucking unlatches on each shot. Buggered the one spare custom WAR valve, so need to tweak the CAD model a little for a few improvements, then order more valves. Also I guess I need to open the gas port up to 0.125" which is fucking GAPED unless I'm just losing a lot of gas efficiency at the custom WAR valve.

Overall the biggest complaint is the low back pressure can. Fucking stupid. Literally could have been quieter, and functioned more reliably.

The ke2-DF flickering. What was the issue behind that and is it solved? Heard the head's circuitry isn't potted whereas lh8's is. How necessary and related is the potting?

Ya'll know I had a flickering issue not too long ago I associated with changing up the body and tailcap AT the range and undoubtedly getting the threads dirty, which resulted in the light staying on when I rethreaded the head later after charging the battery, and also having some flickering.

Cleaning the threads fixed the issue but just a slight amount of crud on the threads basically oneshotting the light's reliability threw me off. Granted, I doubt there are many situations that would justify and allow for remedial field light reassembly

Sorta forced into the next stage of the custom adjustable gas upper receiver due to the charging handle latch wear. Going to start with a spare basic milspec upper I have lying around, but also going to try to find a nicer billet upper to mess with, but I need to drill out the upper for the WAR valves, so essentially making a straight up WAR knockoff.

>>65348686
Eh. Hard to say. They're expensive at $290 for just the upper receiver and in order to get measurements off of it to make my own custom valves, I had the thing torn apart pretty thoroughly and I wouldn't say I'm all that impressed by either the design or the execution. I would be more impressed if Innovative sold a few version of just the valve itself with different aperture sizes for different applications lol.
I think the system could be really useful above and beyond just being a suppressed/unsuppressed switch. Obviously I'm trying to make it a subs-supers switch, but it could also be an FRT-semi switch (FRT sometimes wants more energy than semi only), or just an adverse-normal switch.
I'm confident that it would work way better with a standard buffered AR system.

after reassembly at the range I assumed dirty threads caused some sorta bad connection, after charging the battery back home after the range, I rethreaded the light and it went on the second the connection was completed and wouldn't turn off with button presses, similar to what happened before that I shared a video of if you recall.

I unthreaded it and rethreaded (before cleaning the threads) and that issue went away but replace with flickering. Not on/off flickering but shifting brightness.

After that I unthreaded the head and tailcap, made sure the threads were cleaned up, and the problem went away. I have not experienced it since but my confidence in the light's reliability is shot.

>Feel it move
yeah I've tested that before with these parts and they're fine afaik

I deliberately avoided buying "bad" 18650s and did some research, so it's surprising to hear surefire batteries are bad. How do they even fuck it up since they don't make em?

Give me an example of genuine mistake (distinct from an error) that isn't the result of an incorrect assumption at some level?

>>65349349
>really worn out from a single range session
The upper has north of 1000rnds on it now, the vast majority though being shot during tuning. A lot of rounds being fired in an overgassed configuration, a lot. For a while I was getting malfunctions that were ammunition related that I thought were gassing related so I ran it overgassed for a while. Original charging handle latch was this one on some old rando mil spec handle that by hand honestly feels like it has a weak spring to begin with.
https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/wc-tr-chr?srsltid=AfmBOopNzT_FwCOZ8hUdMjvyontpguWEx7-YtxK-QdJ-tIxnQFq7YjfQ
So the latch got worn, plus overgassing, anyway. It was an issue before, fixed it by putting a different handle in, then the issue cropped up again during most recent round of tuning. In one of the Q "engineering dev" videos they did either for the Boombox or the Honey Badger they ran into the same issue, solved it with steel insert in the receiver and changing the pivot geometry and spring on the latch.

Many moons, before you were even here. Everyone had troubles with them, I had troubles with them and we even had a threadwide shitpost about
>SUREFIRE DOESNT MAKE BATTERIES!
A pair of 123s is going to be between 67mm and 69mm in length so the DF mechanism has to adjust automatically between that ~67-69mm 123 and that ~69mm 18650 range. So if you have a slightly undersized battery the contact can end up skipping under recoil. I also had issues with the surefire batteries developing a dent in the bottom, they are just kinda a shitty battery all around
>Cleaned it
You cleaned the threads and it was able to tighten further which decreased the gap on the battery and solved your flickering. Some battery caps have better tension and thread engagement but really thats not a solution.

Easy answer is to get a good button top battery without the stupid built in usb-c charging shit that really indicates the battery is going to suck.
https://illumn.com/18650-lg-mj1-inr18650-mj1-high-discharge-protected-button-top.html
It puts the LG MJR 1NR18650 BUTTON TOP on the skin or it gets the flicker!
If you REALLY want to reduce the likelihood you can cut a foam earplug in half and jam it in the spring on the tailcap to increase tension. But solving the batteries is really the actual fix.

I was ready for the can to be suboptimal on 300blk terms of at muzzle suppression with respect to .308 performance... but not because the designers/developers set the can up to be that low back pressure on 300blk. Turns out moderate back pressure moderate suppression on full size 30cal (for a given weight/can volume) ends up being very low back pressure, moderate suppression on intermediate 30 cal, at least for this can and its suppression mechanisms.
Honestly the interesting conversation I think to have here is intermediate 30cal suppression mechanisms and results vs full size.

>was simultaneously expecting a higher degree of at muzzle suppression and a corresponding higher degree of back pressure than what the can ended up having
Yeah, but why would you have expected that?

I think for what you're trying to do, you should be buying a can that is optimized for high at-muzzle suppression but will still have somewhat reduced back pressure just on account of having a more modern additive baffle design.

You're messing with too many variables. You need to pick a can then deal with gas port and valve.

Yeah I was considering the TiTrex300SD which I think is overall just a higher back pressure better at muzzle design. I ended up skipping on it because of cost, length, and the impression I had that it was still more or less a trad baffle design.
My less founded more "ignorant" assumption was that manufacturers would use additive mfg to design cans that had even better at muzzle suppression than trad baffle, with comparable BP to trad baffle. Instead what we're seeing is comparable or marginally better at muzzle, and significantly better back pressure, at least with this can.

>>65349630
Like I said earlier, I think the most interesting question is how intermediate lower energy 30cal suppresses (meaning like the actual mechanisms) vs higher energy full size 30 cal. From what I gathered from the Jaguar Fatty 762 yesterday is something I think we (certainly A2) had an idea about already, which is that full size 30 cal 308 suppression performance (encapsulating the total balance of back pressure and at muzzle dB reduction for a given weight/volume displaced etc) is actually quite disparate from intermediate or low energy 30 cal.

I assume I would be happier with this can's performance on my SCAR.

Sometimes you're just doing too much, project gets complicated, and it doesn't work out. It's happened to me many times. I don't really fault him for it, emailing the company wouldn't really have done much, there is no unit of measurement for backpressure. You can only quantify it by comparing it to other cans.

That said, I personally would not do LBP for 300blk. You want it quiet. The only 300 blackout rifle I've ever liked was my friends BRN-180 SBR with full size dual lok 7. Because it was actually quiet.
>>

>>
Not all 762 suppressors are designed to provide great suppression with slower, lower pressure rounds. The most obvious example I've ever heard was the huxwrx flow 762. It sounds really good with 308 while sounding like it's almost doing nothing for 300 subs.

Someone needs to make a pressure scoring system where you measure PSI at the gas key, then divide it by chamber pressure of whatever ammunition you put in. Higher number = worse back pressure.

Good input, for real. Thank you.
I'm curious how this can would do on my SCAR.
Bottom line I think that we've all been a bit abused by the notion of "30 cal cans" and I'll hand it to CAT for being one of the first to really make it obvious what cartridge, not just caliber, and even going so far as to specify what platform, a given suppressor of theirs was designed and optimized for.

>>65350052
Rob Orgel's system is decent IMO (assuming he doesn't lie or fudge data). He ranks back pressure on a scale of 1-10 that ought to be approximately linear for the middle of the scale because it corresponds directly to what riflesneed setting results in reliable lockback on a given platform. unsupressed is generally 10, and a SiCo Omega300 is a 2 generally.

A2 you might be mistaken. If the issue is a connection issue on account of the length of the battery, the LG would fare far worse. Also I noticed when I pressed the button to constant on it dimmed a little every time, repeatedly, not a big amount but noticeable, like maybe a 50 lumen difference.
>>
Yeah I just tested it with the unbranded 18650 KeepPower 3120mAh Sony US18650VTC6 Protected High Discharge Button Top P1831R (R Series) and got repeatable flickering, and the LG worked fine besides that minor dimming when the constant on was pressed in fully, which is something that I saw when I had that mystery meat ke2-df

Yes, for the first issue I ran into with the poison tailcaps. This time, I'm not fixing anything though because the "problem" isn't reoccuring. The second I run into any issues I will try swapping the batteries.

The original question I posed in the thread>>65349059 was both asking about the reputation the ke2-DF had online with flickering and reiterating my experiences to better understand the underlying problems that might explain everything. I reiterated the issue I described a week ago where I (stupidly) changed the body and tailcap over between my two lights AT the range, which inevitably meant I dirtied the threads.

Returned home, charged battery, and put the head back on. Light comes ON and STAYS ON regardless of what I do with the button. I unscrew the head and put it back on and the issue is gone BUT I am noticing some minor flickering (not on/off, but bright and then not so bright). I unthreaded both the tailcap and head, cleaned all four threads with a tissue, reassembled, and no issues.

These posts you're responding to are basically just due diligence on my part about following up about A2's suggestion here>>65349445 and I happen to have a very very very similar battery (18650 LG INR18650MJ1 3500mAh High Discharge) just not the MJ1 WHICH might explain the length discrepancy.

It's more just posterity. For now there is no issue. Will likely get an MJ1 version just to test it out when I get my COMPLETE WHOLE M600DF WITH NO DISCOUNTS AT MSRP DIRECTLY FROM SUREFIRE BRAND SUREFIRE

Are 123s working now? I never actually used the rechargeables. Also I know this sounds stupid but did you really crank down on the tailcap? You have to screw it on so much tighter than you think. Nah 300blk is sick. Supers have excellent terminal all things considered and can be used out of very short barrels, and subs legitimately are useful for a variety of applications.
I should have bought a SiCo Scythe STM (potentially).
What do you think about the following hypothesis:
High back pressure suppressor on the LAW ARIC 300blk setup effectively acts likes increased dwell time, allowing for a smaller port to deliver a smoother less spiked gas impulse to reliably cycle the action without as much punch as larger port running off of a lower back pressure can? I'm trying to figure out how come I'm seeing the charging handle unlatching issue (overgas symptom) when I'm not even locking back on empty mags (undergas symptom)... as compared to with the Omega 300, lockback was achieved along with reliable function, without the charging handle unlatching... Another bit of data, back when I had the Sandman K (less back pressure than omega)... that can on the project would cycle reliably with the appropriate gassing, but had worse/punchier recoil impulse.

People will tell you the eotech magnifiers, but then I have both the 3X and the 5x and they're just okay. I run the 5X on an AK and it works. I'm trying to run the 3X on an AR with mixed results.

You faggots are the reason why 4chan is dying.

It's emotional catharsis in a like-minded in group. If you want to change the subject to be more on topic by all means contribute, but complaining while not contributing isn't going to shift the conversation how you want; instead it will encourage people to respond about the subject you ostensibly don't want to discuss right now.
>>
>>65351999
>by all means contribute
I did. Why is it only extreme measures ever work with you newfags?
>>
>>65352002
>I contributed already but rather than continue I will just claim I contributed
