Looking for feedback on the following hypothesis:For gas operated action, as you open port to increase total energy allowed through port the force vs time curve gets spikier and sharper. While total integrated area is enough to operate action reliably, recoil impulse gets correspondingly spiky and peaked. On the other hand, longer dwell time or longer "effective dwell time" due to a high back pressure suppressor allows for smaller port to let same total energy through, but that is over a longer period of time so force vs time curve is more mellow and gradual. Result is comparatively smoother recoil, less punch and spike. Less shit like charging handle unlatching (big think... issue was previously solved with omega... but then I opened port to increase total energy because effective dwell time of faguar way less than Omega... and LO still not even getting reliable lock back, but spiky impulse overcomes max force spring and latch can handle) The irony (and cool thing actually) is that what we have is a situation where high BP can is actually smoother recoil and operation cycle than low BP can. The distinction between total energy in an operation cycle being distributed over a longer period of time vs shorter, changing the peak impulse values. For example when I still had the SiCo Omega 300 (relatively high back pressure) and the Sandman K (low BP), when both were tuned for reliable lockback and function with the LAW ARIC 300blk build... the recoil impulse of the Omega 300 absolutely felt superior, smoother, and less punchy than the Sandman K did.
