Teenage Queen EditionPost your controversial surp opinions.Recent News: CMP will be selling surplus M14s at the end of the year.Previous Thread: >>65315541

Any parts kits I should get while the getting is good?
>>65396114I hope AWBs are abolished by the time these come on the market or I am going to be depressed about missing out on a legit M14.
I have nowhere else to post this but:I love the Savage 99, bros
>>65396114I want one
Any news on the CMP M-14s?
>>65397112I saw a semi credible rumor that they would be $4k
>>65397155>$4k>for a clapped out M14>when a brand new M1A is half that Bruh.
>>65397155That would be very silly since you can get a good clone for the same price and the whole point of the CMP is subsidizing marksmanship. I don't beleive it.
>>65397197Muh provenance
Someone explain the throat/muzzle gauge thing boomers use. Is it actually a useful way of checking a barrel?
>>65397233Are you talking about headspace gauges?
>>65397235No. The CMP boomer measurements they do with "the throat scores a 1.5 and the muzzle has a 1.0".
>>65397155You can get a kit M14 with a new barrel and reciever for less than half that so I doubt it. I'm thinking $1500 for a Rack grade and $2000 for a Service.>>65396352They have the entire remaining US inventory of M14s to chew through so they should hopefully last a while. I wonder if they'll sell a version with no mag and flash hider for us cuck state residents.
>>65396157Anything with a barrel pretty much. Stack the kits and get the receivers or repair sections when you can. Get a welder whenever can and learn that. Get a 3d printer and learn making some files using auto fusion. By the time somebody has receivers or making blanks for some of the stuff, you'll be able to weld or 3d print repair pieces or jigs.
>>65397329And get the repair sections as soon as can for odd ball pieces. They're usually limited runs or they're made by old farts that might suddenly die on you and take the knowledge and skill to the grave.
>>65397297That senator said there's at least 100k of them
>>65397338Boomers are going to be stacking these deep to rust in their garages to resale at 3x, die, then have their kids take them to buy backs to be destroyed
>>65397355Stop being needlessly doomeristic, retard. Liking money is vastly more common than anti fun virtue signaling.
>>65397587Ths CMP's stated mission goal is to improve and promote marksmanship for the general public. It is not a retirement scheme for wealthy boomers. It is public utility and boomers taking advantage of it for a quick buck is fucking disgusting and calling it out is not "anti-gun", you fag.
>>65397235Its a bore rating. Like how the Swedes did on their guns. It’s something that helps them justify their gunshow prices. It may be valid it may not.
>>65397155The 4k number that keeps getting thrown around is absolutely false>idiots on forums say $4k>source?>a.i. told me>a.i. gets its info from said forum>cycle repeats
>>65397612As above so below
>>65397233Yes. The us military armorers would use throat/muzzle erosion gauges to measure how worn out a barrel was to see if it needed to be replaced or not. A brand new barrel would read 0-2, a super worn out piece of shitty sewer pipe from ethiopia would measure 10. Armorers would replace barrels around 5-6 iirc
>>65397612The original forum poster that said that is a CMP armorer. That's why I said semi credible.
>>65397646And I think he's bullshitting. "Dad works at nintendo"-tierThe CMP is maybe paying $600 for these Margins are super thin, and theyre technically a "non profit", and they want these rifles to actually sell. They sell the garands a touch over "at-cost", what makes you think they'll suddenly decide that they need to septuple their money
I need one of these so bad
>>65397197I wouldn't think they'd necessarily be clapped out. I think they're probably all late 60s-mid 70s arsenal reworks the government held on to for WW3. think of the letterkenney garands the cmp sold in the 1990s
>>65397663>Remington Model 400 Industrial Kiln GunOh yeah, I forgot they use large bore shotguns to help remove slag and build up on those.
>>65397713Imagine putting it on a 1919 tripod or something and absolutely btfoing bowling pins with 4" shell 3 oz slugs. practically an artillery piece
>>65397197>when a brand new M1A is half thatAnd ARMS refuses to make a new run of scope mounts for them even though they would print money because SA can't get their receivers to actually be in spec across the production run.At least the surplus ones were manufactured correctly.
>>65397764ARMS refuses to make mounts for them because they're practically out of business. They have no manufacturing facility anymore. Everything on their site is old stock.
>>65397772How? Every reddtor and their mother wants to make a mw2 m4 clone, or some gwot dmr clone, or a colt scar clone, or a mk12They'd make a killing selling literally anything they've ever offered, and cloners would pay big bucks for that. A fucking #40 flip sight is $600 now. I dont even want tho think about their quad rails. They could sell them new for double the old msrp and people would still buy the shit out of them. Why?
>>65397816>fucking #40 flip sight is $600 now.No fucking way. I've got two surplus ones I purchased at a show for $20 each. Where are you seeing this
>>65397830Sorry, I misremembered, only 399, a great deal
>>65397329FAL kits are likely something we won't see come back soon. All you need is a receiver and you don't have to cut or weld anything.
>>65397835I'm probably going to legit sell the ones I have now and spend the money on a 6mm arc upper.I had no idea they were worth this much, that's ridiculous.
>>65397845I'll give you a CRISP benjamin for one
>>65397816Probably age old tale of oldfart owner/machinists retiring and not being able to find/train a replacement to continue the company.
>>65397603Agreed but don’t take it to the exceptional extreme just to meme
>>65397856All that shits been CNC for decades. load stock. push button. bzzzzźz. quadrail. How hard can it be to train some trade school graduate for that?
>>65397863not every cnc is the samea espresso machine is insert coffee add water press buttona microwave isnt going to give the same results even if its still insert coffee and water push button.
>>65397845Ehh they're not really worth THAT much. Ebay is as bad or worse than gunbroker when it comes to overpriced shit. There's one on tacswap for $185. But its the "klone korreckt w/ wingless swan" so a later one might be worth $140-150 or so IMHO
>>65397859>don’t take it to the exceptional extreme just to memeHate to tell ya, but average boomers are hoarders. It's not extreme enough portrayal in my opinion. Anon left out the boomer dad was cat fished by a 40 year old Asian man posing as a 19 year old Asian girl and he just wired "her" the rest of his net worth and took out a quadruple reverse underwater mortgage to make sure his new love has enough to live on.
What did the Russians call 7.62x54mmR before they went metric after ww1
Finished lower. Working out final dimensions for a 3d printed lever to push up on the cut up ar15 trigger. After that, spruce up the 3d print file for lower with final tweaks and drop on odysee. Once I heat treat my lugs, I'm done with the semi Hotchkiss build.
Suppressors and SBR's are about to get removed from the NFA in about 7 days if the government doesn't contest it
>>65398901>>65398901CMP grease guns when?
>>65398903That will be $8,000 please
>>65398945Not him, but>implying I wouldn't pay $10,000 for a tin tube that goes bang bang bang
>>65398415Probably something like "Three Line Gun ammo". Not as if they had a bunch of different service rifles shooting 54R back then.
>>65398901>Suppressors and SBRSmall fryWake me up when >.50s are struck offThe machinegun registry will never be reopened
>>65399019>Wake me up when >.50s are struck offGod I would love this. I just want a second gen Carl Gustaf.I don't even care about launching HE I just want to send supersonic Cambells soup cans.
>>65399073I want an m79My grandfather said it was his favorite when he was in the army Even if all I ever shoot is chalk rounds
>>65399019Redefining the very definition of small arm is no joke less likely than repealing FOPA86, brudda
>>65398901>suppressorseh>SBRstell me more...
>>65398415Originally, the round was designated "Tpeхлинeйный пaтpoн oбpaзцa 1891 гoдa" – (three-line cartridge model of 1891). It then became widely known under the designation "7,62мм винтoвoчный пaтpoн" (7.62 mm rifle cartridge). >>65398988Good call
>>65396114I can't wait for the CMP M14s to come out. I'm gonna order two. >>65397297Dang I didn't realize JRAs were sub 2k. I always thought of them as being 2.5+ guns.
>>65399153>suppressors>ehNTA but have you shot with one/owned one?
>>65399226Ive shot a few never really did anything for me. Im thinking more in the greater theme of milsurp there are fewer (albeit rarer and cooler) suppressed or can easily be suppressed surps vs SBRs so thats kinda what I want to know how it effects the surp pile
>>65399276Its basically a nothingburger for surp. Suppressors have never been a bottleneck for because they can be acquired separately from the firearm and anything SBR surp is likely going to be an automatic weapon or already destroyed ages ago.what this will actually mean is that Timmy and Tyrone are now going to saw off unattended surp shotguns whenever they want
>>65399293>Timmy and Tyrone are now going to saw off unattended surp shotguns whenever they wantYou do realize they already do that with stolen firearms right? They don't care what it is. It makes no difference to them if it's registered or not.
>>65399276Yeah for surp your main thing is going to be, like, Mosin silencer repros (using front sight to attach). Maybe also some silly clamp on muzzle thread mounts, like Maxim repros. Maybe you find an FR-8 and hope for concentric threads (those are threaded and not pinned or something silly, right?). Can't really think what else would be historically correct to silence unless you build a 656 clone. On a 22, though, holy shit. I'd say down to like 10" barrels you can build a semi 22 that's pretty close to hearing safe if not hearing safe with most ammo and still have pretty complete powder burn. With subs (~1000FPS), it's silly as shit and actually hearing safe. Shot some supers (safely) past a groundhog at the range last time. Maybe he's just a deaf and jaded range groundhog but he gave me a look at the first shot and went back to muching grass while I lobbed 22s a couple feet above and maybe like 25ft to the side past him hitting the target 50yd past him (he was ~50yd downrange, target at 100). Supers still sound like gun shots with a 22, just as if they were, I don't know, 25-50yds further away. IDK how loud it is downrange but I figure it has to be the loudest spot given the sound echoing back.
>>65399276Adding: I just wish Maxim repros would start popping up. Seems we have three fucking Bramits! (may have a duplicate?)https://atakaindustries.com/mosin-nagant-bramit-silencer/https://usarmamentmfg.com/mosin-nagant-suppressor/https://mgarms.com/product/new-russian-bramit-suppressor-mosin-nagant-91-30-wwii-nfa-in-stock-ready-to-ship/
>>65397355Getting pretty stale by now.
>>65399451>I just wish Maxim repros would start popping up. Seems Me too.
Did they ever bring in the boxes of Italian 30-06 Bren magazines like they intended?
>>65398495Printing out hopefully the final iteration of it before dropping on odysee. Trigger pack and trigger release lever. Will get photo of hotchkiss mostly assembled this evening.
>>65400059Even if I just end up using them on old 22s, I really want some to keep some old guns period correct. I mean, look at this thing!https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/72/3709/maxim-silencer-equipped-remington-model-12-rifle-class-iiinfa
>>65400937No Anon, look at this thing:
>>65401096Oh fuck yeah. I like that scope too.
One of my dream guns has always been a 1903 with the overly long Unertl scope.
>>65401500I just like super long vintage scopes in general. My longest is ~14" with a 3/4" tube, straight tube with minimal flare out for the eyepiece. Looks sweet. I want longer though, and I've yet to get bases made to mount it properly. I have a rifle that scope would BARELY be able to be used on due to the insane gap between drilled and tapped holes for the mounts. Luckily it has internal adjustments though I'm in need of one without adjustments too.
>>65401500Unless you want a legitimate one, that isn't that unobtainable. Lots of 1903s have been drilled for repro scopes and you can get an Unertl repro with modern glass for not too much either.
>>65400858Carbon fiber print later. Will drop on odysee in like a week or so. I'm just being lazy on writing the how to.
>>65401616Next step make it out of metal
>>65401616Fuck yea bro
