>>

No. Space and glass is like water and glass. They blend together so well that the light has nothing to reflect off of, so the light from the sight just fucks off into space.

Best option for an Ak in space would be a smart targeting system. Optics wouldn’t work in space. Space suits and helmets are currently too bulky to get a good cheekweld. The environments where spray and pray is even remotely viable are the same environments where it would be a detriment to both friendlies and critical equipment. A smart targeting lock-on system with say, gyrojet technology for better terminal ballistics on the moon would be the perfect lunar battle implement.

krink was supposed to give more backpressure for reliable cycling in the shorter combo gas block krink. It just looks the coolest. Might give your gun more recoil and beat itself a little harder if put on a full size AK, but it doesn't really matter. 4 piece bulgarian gives good flash suppression and directs a lot of the noise forward. It's heavy as fuck that's why some people say it decreases recoil. It doesn't actually have anything that decreases recoil. The last style has very good flash suppression that's it
>>
>>65422038
I got 8inch gun I'm picking up monday, I'll probably just go with the plain flash suppressor unless there's a good reason to get the recoil thing, reliability wise. Is there?

I got a question for you all that's been bugging me.
I've been poring over old Soviet manuals, trying to learn the manual of arms of an average Soviet soldier back in the mid 20th century. Not some Spetsnaz operator, just your average Soviet conscript.
When doing an emergency reload (mag dry, no rounds in the chamber), after inserting a fresh mag, were they taught to rack the charging handle with their right hand, or their left?
I know using your left hand and reaching under and around the rifle is considered the meta, but was that how it always was?
Please /akg/ I need to know or I might die of autism.

I understand, friend. I bought it a couple years ago, but as I’ve gotten a little older I’ve been realizing that having more crap just adds more stress to my life. Plus, I’ve got an AR, and see no real need to have an AK (at least at this point).
>>
>>65422797
If you're right handed the soviet doctrine was to break grip to actuate the safety and charging handle, then replace hand on the grip for firing.
Lefties don't exist.
>>
>>65418168
That'd fill up with moon dust? Rapidly?

More importantly. IF you use such a device, you want to make *damn* sure there's zero possibility for counter on your habitat/craft. Because that will be the natural target, you'll not be living very long without it.

Need to cure yourself of this futile mentality or your species isn't going to be leaving orbit, let alone the solar system: Too busy smashing each other's radiators as they require to be exposed and forcing them to shutdown or just cook themselves.

Space is hostile. That doesn't mean there's something to fight. That means everything is going to kill you. You work together, or you all die.

It's that simple.

>Just slap a CPU or two
Is them CPU's?

Or is them supposed to be high current solid state capacitors?

>Why do
Probably something to do with thermodynamics. You see, on Earth what's stopping man-portable energy weapons is the power source. We can build a ten megawatt laser. We can get that package down to something you can pick up and walk around with. What you can't walk around with is the literal power station it takes to feed it.
But in space you have a bigger issue: The lack of condiction. You only have IR to bleed off heat, which is the least efficent form of transfer. Even if your little laser is only 100W (For scaling, at focal point my 4W burning laser will go 3-5mm thru steel per pass) then you're not gettin' many shots outta that before it's hot enough to combust you...

If you absolutely must start such petulance then a centrafugal launcher would impart kinetic energy into a projectile without wasting it on you.

But why bother with the grunts when you can just spin up a shipping container and release it into their habitat. They'll die soon enough.

The natural termination of that line is everyone fucks everyone over large scale and steadily escalating and everyone dies.
Well done. Give yourself a goldfish.

What’s the better route when it comes to kits in terms of long term value? I worry about parts availability if I go the kit route.
A. Build them correct and later decide to sell

The Saiga kinda looks funny, especially with the FSB at the way end of the barrel but I can maybe understand. I think the Norinco Hunters look kinda nice. A Chinese 10 or 20 and side mount scope look good on these, especially a gloss finish Leupold or something. Also I wish I picked up another few of those Saiga mags when Apex had them for like $10 a while back. The front and the top front corners need a small amount of fitting but they seem pretty solid. Haven't had a chance to get it to the range though.
>>
>>65441399
akstuff parts are Azerbaijani. Everything they have branded “Russian Standard” is actually Iglim. It was easier to order from Atlantic because you don’t have to add everything to cart individually. They also have the selector and cleaning rod in stock, akstuff didn’t.

Fair enough, dubs.
Enjoy the 101, when you eventually get it back.
Gotta start hunting for rare 5.56 mags now.
>>
>>65441852
I am doing a Russian rear trunnion at least. I’m going to try to trade the Iglim trunnion for a handguard when it comes in. Pod is modifying the front trunnion to take 74 pattern mags so I don’t know if actual 101 magazines will work in it.
>>
>>65441908
So let me see if i got this straight.
You're going to permanently modify a 5.56x45 rifle to take 5.45x39 mags except 5.56x45 won't feed for shit out of them so you're going to have to use custom followers (that the guy converting it conveniently makes and sells) for every single mag, forever?
You're retarded as fuck, but it's a free country I guess.
>>
>>65441948
The vast majority of 5.56 AKs take 74 pattern magazines. All of the Circle 10s, commercial Bulgarian magazines, and Beryl magazines are 74 pattern. The front trunnion modification changes it to match SLR106 geometry.
>>
>>65441968
Oh I guess I thought the 5.56 was somehow vastly different, but then how would that follower work for 74 mags in the first place if that was the case.
I suppose they're either 74 pattern or Weiger (and M85/M90 which are apparently also unique) and nobody is going to purposely chose to use Weigers over 74 pattern.
I apologize for calling you retarded. Clearly I'm the retard and wasn't thinking it out.
>>
>>65442183
It’s all good. If I left the front trunnion alone I’d be stuck with Wiegers and Galil magazines. I probably will grab a couple of pod followers so I can get a bake and plumb magazine.

Since Ironwood died, nobody really makes a good clone of that handguard anymore.
Kalashnicarver might make you one for the SAM7K if you throw money at them.
They don't even have the original one on their site anymore, just a weird "hollow dong" abomination, but they did make one (at least for Yugos) so they know how.

The only versions of that muzzle device that exist outside of Pakistan are airshit.
Oh and that one Ted Marshall made for Machine gun Mike.

Hand held chemical lasers like PEPs

Battery isn't the primary source of output power, chemical reaction is.

>That's your cleaning kit
Yeah I got that part figured out, now I can't figure out how get the little fucker open.
>You want to try and turn a milled pistol into a stamped AKMSU?
Yeah that kinda is what I wanted to do. I guess it is a stupid idea. Mostly I just liked the way that lower handguard looks and I don't like the dongs, but if they're out of production, whatever. I was looking at kalashnikarver and some other company for wood furniture. Is it a hassle/ require a lot of tools and skill to fit this stuff that's already made for a sam7 or just a little sanding or something?

Press down and twist the cap

Tools and mechanical know-how aside, you bought a milled krink pistol; the snowflakiest of snowflake AKs when it comes to furniture/parts compatibility.
Probably would've been easier to start from a SAS M-7UFK if you wanted to go for the AKMSU look.
But you should hit up Kalashnicarver and ask them if they can make one for you.
Like I said they have the plans so I'm sure they can do it, for a price.
If not, there's always this $300+ set from Combloc Customs.
