Final weight is 316 gn. Lot of variation, I need to work on getting better at casting.. using the heaviest weight for the load data and just dealing with the variation on the 313 gn rounds which seem to be the lightest…. Accuracy is gonna be interesting but this is more of a test for how these are gonna do in .454 casull…. Going to run them on lil gun, should top out at about 1320 fps per grt, which feels a little slow for .454 but it’s out of a 2.5 inch Alaskan, so that’s screaming for this round. Anyone have any recommendations for increasing hardness? Debating just biting the bullet (figuratively speaking) and ordering some pure antimony or linotype to mix with the lead I have. Water quenched these, still have about a week of cure time before I can get a good measure of their hardness with my Lee tester….

Going to make some 8.6 creedmoor loads in QL just to see what you can get away with in a 10.5" barrel. I've never loaded for it but everyone seems to say that 12" is recommended

Anyone have any experience with Lee alox? Usually I’m doing big bullets, but I ordered some of this to try for 158 gn semi wadcutters for 38 special, maybe 357 depending on how well this keeps it from leading…

If your going to go for subsonic then shorter probably works to your benefit.. what are you shooting it in?

I think it's Matt's Bullets has the same mold.
I've shot a handful of those through my Win92, COAL was like 1.650 in the lower cannelure if I remember right. Looking at my notes says the allow they used was only good to 1400fps from the long barrel.

God it’s like glue. You’d be better off resizing completely dry wtf

That’s definitely the same mold… that’s the lee 6 chamber .452-300. Good to know they list it for 1400. Probably not gonna shoot these in my x frame, but loaded hot out of my Alaskan I doubt I’ll break that velocity..

What was you load data and velocity if you don’t mind me asking?

I make my own Dillon case lube by using 1 part liquid lanolin per 7-8 parts isopropyl alcohol (the higher the alcohol percentage the better) and use a spray pump. Coat them all with the spray bottle, let the alcohol evaporate for 5 minutes, never had a stuck case again. My problem is I tend to overdo it and the cases end up sticky, but I usually resize a big lot at a time and then tumble them in ground walnut with a homebrew case polish (nufinish and alcohol) to get them nice and shiny anyway.

Thanks. The stuck case remover is my friend as much as a punch and hammer today
