My experience is aluminum feed lips spread out over time causing feed issues, magpul I have never had a feed lip issue aside from them just breaking off. I'd rather have a mag I know failed then a mag I don't know has failed. That being said I carried aluminum overseas when pmags weren't allowed yet

One of the biggest benefits of the PMAG in my mind is the utter lack of bent metal. Yes, they will snap given sufficient applied force but when one goes bad, it goes bad permanently. I know many a service member who got what likely was a good USGI magazine only to find out in the middle of a fight or range evolution that found it bind up, kink, feed incorrectly, or otherwise malfunction due to dinged stamped metal that would otherwise not phase a PMAG.

My block of walnut really wants to tear out. The grain is just wavy enough that every 2-3 inches I have to change direction or it's going to get chunked. I'm going to have to start wetting the wood a bit before a chisel perhaps, it's bone dry old ass growth. I'm making progress though I've got the recoil lug and barrel carved enough that I can start digging down to seat the action, about 1/4inch untill it makes solid contact
