as a firearms enthusiast and someone who likes to shoot off 150 - 200 rounds of various ammo once or twice a month... i don't quite see the point of suppressors in most cases. i think a lot of it is manufacturers just trying to get you to buy something expensive.

sure, maybe having one on the gun by my bed would be useful, but i wear hearing protection otherwise while out shooting. i'd rather put the hundreds or thousands it would cost for a good suppressor towards another firearm.

I like it a lot. The glass is really clear and it doesn't look 'off' at 1x. Could be a bit brighter though. Battery life/using doubles A's are a good feature to me. The turrets arent marked so its like a set it and forget it type of optic. The larue mount + vcog itself + rmr mount + rmr hd weighs 38 ounces so im guessing its a bit of a pig compared to other stuff out there. Like another anons have mentioned you should try and get the SCO bc I dont believe other models of it feature windage marks. I have never used a super premium lpvo like an atacr though but the vcog is good enough for me

Right now I'm running a 1/2 inch riser with a 1.57 mount which I'd like to get rid of to make my rifle a bit lighter. Is it 2.26 inch to the center line of the optic itself or is the unity mount already 2.26 inches?

it's either recoiling too hard one way or another or your buffer is very poorly made. you got some special spring or lightweight buffer? can you adjust your gas settings?

start by getting a new buffer and see what happens.

A well tuned DI is like shooting a bb gun. Cut the gas off with a smaller gas port. I use a BRT gas tube with a bootleg BCG and 5.3oz kaw valley buffer, it's super low recoil with a high pressure can. Not great for going between weaker and stronger 556 loads kinda want a riflespeed for faster adjustment.

>>
>>65486262
I wouldn’t even worry about it. Just do your best and get some 77gr match ammo later. If it feels like the reticle is bouncing around on the target then dial the magnification down a bit. Read the scopes manual and don’t forget to adjust the focus once your target is set up. Some people forget about that knob and wonder why their scope is blurry.
>>
>>65486419
>don’t forget to adjust the focus
thanks anon, I know about the focus but it is somewhat a thing I am a bit afraid of touching since it is the "locked" adjustment on the scope.
Will be sure to read the manual about it, since I've tried some static observations trough the scope and it seems just a tad blurry at 24x, but there was heat aberration also. I guess I'll try in the early morning.

>77gn ammo
Pfff where I live that is pure unobtanium and even if I'd find something, most probably there would be like $ 2 + per round. From covid onwards, imported ammo prices skyrocketed and we're fucked big time, and UA war added a metric ton of salt into a gaping wound that no one needed; reloading prices here (EU) went to the shitter too, powder more than doubled and primers tripled. I'll wait some more, like end of year but I guess I will handload small batches since we only see "plinking" ammo.

the A2 is objectively better than the A1
better ergos on the lower & the sights are marksman sights that you actually easily adjust unlike the A1
plus the brass deflector & forward assist change are objectively better
the only thing id argue the A1 is better with is the pencil barrel & the grip,i dont get why the A2 has the nub on it & the government profile barrel was a mistake
an A2 with a pencil barrel is definitely the best version of a 20" AR if you are using iron sights
>>

>>
>>65485617
i think the origin of the carbine length came from the USAF survival rifle, special forces copying it for the colt commando in vietnam, & the carbine length was combat proven and machining existed for it
i may be wrong but i think they were looking at mid length to fix some of the issues the M4/carbines had but they already had a fuckload of grenade launchers that only fit on carbine length gas systems
probably cheaper & easier to just change the buffer system out to improve the carbine rather than have manufacturers retool & have to order a slew of new grenade launchers, plus all the spare parts they already had that fit carbine length systems
now why they decided to do things like the sigger battle rifle & continue to just order parts after so long rather than switch to mid length or a dissipator style by now is the mystery
>>
>>65485346
just shoot steel cased & use a rod with a magnet to pick up the shells
if you are just plinking steel cased is cheaper anyway unless you are reloading

holy fuck i know it's been a few years since i've really done any shooting but goddam i fucking suck, at least out to/past ~100 m or so
double taps and target transitions on a little 7"x12" torso at 25 m and 50 m felt fine and easy but sighting in the ACOG at 100 m was rough
don't have any bags and first time shooting with a bipod but still
like any mediocre shot i'm gonna blame my ammo (which to be fair is TulAmmo but no baffle strikes on the new can so that's good at least)
didn't help that it was cold and rainy and i was just in a patch of dirt that was slowly turning into mud with as much broken glass swept out of the way as i could on a patch of BLM land

For a paint job, should I do a darker base layer (earth brown, olive drab, od green, etc.) to which I add lighter colors (tan, sand, fde, etc.) or vice versa, or base it on the degree to which the colors are found in your environment (in my case the most common/base would be like a khaki olive drab or earth brown, with highlights/lowlights of carc green, fde, camouflage sand)

light first for guns. its hard to make something already dark light without adding too much paint and fucking it up.

It depends I don't buy without G&S anymore, I lost $200 to a queerlet that had a bunch of good reviews. Not the end of the world but I'm not doing it again, and anything over $300 I'm using an escrow service or buying it elsewhere. Prices for alot of stuff are insane though but nothing is cheap anymore, ACOGs used to be ~$500 now they're >$800. I just bought a new one because an extra $300 is worth it no not have to deal with someone's trash. I did get a piggyback 509t for it for about $200 which is more than 50% new prices. That alone made the fee worth it.

---
Heading into Labor Day...

When using a credit card, you have to ask yourself this:
Can I afford this right now versus over time?
Can I afford the payments in the immediate billing cycle to come and afterwards?
Am I getting rewards and/or a promotional APR offer to make it worth using at all versus paying it all now?
If your answer is yes to all of them....use the credit card. Especially 0% APR ones that you're certain you can pay off during the duration of the promotional APR offer

DON'T GO BROKE OVER GUNS. GET OFF GUNBROKER AND HIT UP THE DIVORCE COURTS FOR UPCOMING LIQUIDATION SALES
>>
>>65488884

why are ar charging handles $100+? ak charging handles come WITH the bcg.
>>
>>65489015
They are a separate piece of machined 7075T6 aluminum. The charging handles over $80 are all either from Gucci manufacturers so you pay a premium for the name and perceived QC, have additional design work that benefits the AR such as providing a better gas seal and the extra dosh is R&D tax, or a combination of both
Milspec charging handles are like $40 at most

Yeah, and that fatal accidental discharge that killed an airman?
NOT the pistol's fault, the airman responsible left a written and signed confession that it was intentional homicide, a few hours before he "killed himself" while all the surveillance cameras simultaneously malfunctioned. Don't ask why the killer wasn't subject to an autopsy, or why he was immediately cremated (against his will, without the consent of his family).

THERE ARE NO SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES!
THE P320 CANNOT FIRE UNINTENTIONALLY!
Case closed. Don't ask any more questions and stop noticing things, or we'll sic out crack legal team at you and have them sue you for antisemitic discrimination.

better idea, dont go into fucking debt for a gun & pay off your credit card every month even if its 0% APR
very few people can manage min/maxing credit cards & one mistake tanks your credit
its smarter to just pay it off as soon as you make a purchase & use the credit card for the 1%-3% cash back & the protection for fraud since the bank will fight fraudulent charges since its their money instead of just using a debit card

16" AR with a Strike Eagle 1-8x with a Holosun RDS on a 45* mount. It's a budget setup.

Part of the move for the XPS was to get a more rebust, higher quality optic. Still want magnification.

I have another SBR with a Sig Sauer Romeo and 5x Juliet combo in it that I really like. I tended to like that set up better than the LPVO.

I was worried that I would prefer a 5x over a 3x. I had a Vortex 3x magnifier that I ended up just removing because I couldn't justify the weight or hassle for a mere 3x.

It's hard to make a shitty suppressor right now unless you're b&t, just look at specs and buy the one that looks the coolest and checks the most of your boxes

Thoughts on 10” hand guard on a 14.5” barrel for weight reduction?
>>
Wait why does the Vudu 4-12x FFP actually look p good?
>>
>>65490532
>for weight reduction?
wow, a whole ass 0.25lb difference for less area for modularity. Now if you would argue for a price difference, perhaps it would matter. But if you're a fatass, you should probably focus on your diet instead.

my 16" is lighter than i think every rifle that anyone in /arg/ has posted a weight for, and it's got a full length hand guard and full size suppressor
You'd save less weight than the white light you won't be able to mount out at the end of your rifle

for me? it's sig, flock, axon, and motorola solutions

I like lots more exposed barrel than is accepted these days. It's like showing some ankle under a dress.

I carried a P229R DAK for 9 years and my agency never changed the recoil springs. Also never heard of any catastrophic failures, but one year they replaced the extractors. DAK grew on me.
