How do I fix this? I have a S&W 3913 and it looks like at some point the gun may have been dropped to where the hammer slightly rubs against the inside of the slide on one side.
Also, if you guys know any good holsters (preferably leather iwb) for one of these, please let me know a good one to grab.

I wish it was more socially acceptable to carry a cap n ball.
>>
>>65534131
Who cares what others think?
A cap and ball revolver will still be adequate for 99.9% of self-defense situations you might encounter
>>

You can do it, but it wants to be a part of some specific historical or cowboy themed coord.

If it’s a matter of positioning and not bent, just add a stainless steel shim or two to the trigger axle on the side it’s rubbing on. It may just be a factory issue if it’s not a performance center model.

Anons, in terms of holsters, how would something like pic rel feel if it was carried at my 5 o’clockwhile driving? It would be for my Glock 17. If you have better holster recommendations, then please let me know. I hear tenicor is great, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the hype. Particularly I like the tilted angle so the grip is higher. But hey- I know very little about holsters, so please educate me.
I don’t want to give too much away about my personal life, but my job involves driving.

>>65534398
The MP5 isn't a machine pistol, pic rel is
>buh MP is an abbreviation of Maschinenpistole
Select-fire sub-carbines were novel technology when the term was devised so the Germans may be forgiven for the implication that such weapons are pistols souped up with auto sears, stocks and higher capacity magazines. In the present day however, MP is not an appropriate designation for a weapon that has nothing in common with pistols other than the ammunition.

do you really have to carry at 5? I mean I carry a CZ P10 in my car appendix with a kydex sidecar holster and its fine, I wouldn't really like to do it ALL DAY but even for like a few hours it doesn't really bother me. I also carry at 3 strong side when I'm not CCing and that feels good in both a car and in a computer chair as unless you're a BIG GUY 4 ME there's usually a pocket of space for a gun to kinda sit in on that side of a car/chair.

It really matters more what kind of gun you're using.. like a fuckin bodyguard 2.0 could fit up your ass comfortably, you could carry that gun anywhere. I don't have one up my ass but I do have the same exact type of sidecar holster for it that I use and its so comfy.

It's almost TOO comfy, I forget I have a fucking gun on me.
>>
>>65534507
>at my 5 o’clock
Why do yall put these weird conditions on things? Stop being a fag and just be normal. Strong side or appendix, no more weirdness.
>>
>>65534567
It's actually true fuddery. "Strong side", "appendix" are leet new gen terms
>>
>>65534543
I don’t HAVE to carry at 5, but I also dont feel comfortable with a loaded gun pointed near my balls. Especially if I’m carrying my Glock. I haven’t decided if I want to carry that or my other pistol which is an older smith. The smith makes more sense I guess, but I just can’t make myself feel comfortable with it. Idk. Maybe that’s just a me thing. Anyways- the smith has a decocker, and once off safety has a couple action first trigger pull, so I do feel much safer with that.
>>
>>65534569

>>
>>65534573
it LITERALLY PHYSICALLY CANNOT EVER GO OFF inside a NON-DOGSHIT HOLSTER. If you holstered the weapon with no obstruction, it will never become obstructed inside the properly fitted holster. If you use a non-flexible holster like you should with a Glock, the gun cannot function until you yank it out and pull the trigger.

the most unsafe thing you can do is try and quickly re-holster and somehow a wad of shirt gets between the trigger and the holster and your UNGBUNGA it into the holster instead of going "huh it wont snap in like it supposed to" and yeah then you could blow your cock off like people totally have.. but if you have time? bro just unclip the fucking holster and put it on the gun, then put the holster on.

if the trigger is safe, the gun is safe

honestly shouldn't do it anyway unless its allowed on the range lmao. If the time allows it, look down into the holster, if it doesn't.. well the situation at hand is probably equally as dire as MAYBE shooting yourself with your somehow obstructed holster.

still practice doing both, its pretty easy to guide a pistol back to its holster IWB appendix cause its so.. accessible to the person wearing it and get good at not really looking... BUT.... if you have time and the ability, just do it safely.. fuck it take the holster off and put the gun in it while its pointed away from you.

I also have the Navy revolver, but it's too big to carry with my current resources (the pocket on my M65 Woodland field jacket or the pocket of my Serbian field jacket). It can fit inside the pocket of my M65 without the barrel, but the cylinder likes to slide off without the barrel, and the ballistics would probably be significantly worse.

Yeah, you’re probably right. I guess I could do a cross draw holster like you suggested. That sounds pretty cool. I’m gonna take the smith out again and the Glock sometime and just see how they feel side by side. It feels comfortable to hold, but just kinda weird to shoot. Idk.

The stainless steel looks good in a sea of black pistols, and there are nice minor details like the steps in the decocker lever. It was also from a time when people cared at least a little about how a gun looked and the market wasn't flooded with pistols designed by 14 year-olds.

Yeah man, the sig 320 x lineup is actually really good both in ergos and trigger. It's a shame the reputation is what it is, but it's not like Sig hasn't earned it with how shady they have been. There was actually another world where I got a 320 xcarry instead of the FN 509c back in 2022 as I was between the two at the time.

If the 385 has x series grip modules and a similarly great trigger I may end up with one in a couple years, but sig like PSA is not a company I trust with a gen 1.

There's more than just different sizes, you can get different textures and materials, shapes and features, and it's cheaper and easier than basically any other kind of pistol to do that. If you don't like anything on it, you can change it really quickly and easily because it's designed to be that way. A lot of other guns, regardless of size, don't have that. Even Glock, aftermarket King, has the main issue of the frame being the gun and thus controlled in a lot of places (and usually more expensive). I can't stress to you enough how many people love the 365 purely because they can make it their own unique gun in every respect and they can do it without having to know too much about guns.

Like many, I bought a Glock 19 because it's the meta. I got pretty good, went to the range, tricked out the gun with light and red dot and now it's more of a house gun.
I'm a slim guy and always had problems printing with the 19's grip. Realized after a few weeks of concealed carry that I should have bought a 26.
Now... here's the issue. 26's go for like 500 dollars and that's too much. Are there decent 26 clones for cheaper that are still compatible with glock magazines?

Generally speaking folks like 124gr +p ammo and generally speaking folks like speer gold dots or federal HST for that. Go on ammoseek.com or just use sgammo as he is often in the ballpark of the best price with free shipping on orders over $200.

Whatever you pick make sure to run at least 100 through your carry gun to ensure that brands HP nose design doesn't stack tolerances weirdly with your particular guns mags and feed ramp to cause reliability issues. Plenty of stories of guns who after a couple years of carrying decide to shoot off their carry ammo of choice for the first time and find out it doesn't feed in their gun and would have got them killed.

Speaking of Glock, I have a question for all of /hg/.
So I have a Gen 2 Glock 17. Quite frankly, I really like Glock. I like how durable they are and how they just work. That being said- I absolutely HATE how there’s all these different generations. Someone please help calm my autism, but one of ther things I think about is- “what IF something breaks?”. It’s not like I can exactly go out and easily find Gen 2 parts. Honestly that’s the biggest reason I would consider something like a 1911. It’s just the same gun it was over 100 years ago. Is my concern a valid issue? Or is this just an autistic way of thinking?
To be fair, I had a 1911 but sold it because I didn’t like it.

>Someone please help calm my autism, but one of ther things I think about is- “what IF something breaks?”.
luckily glocks are constructed of bent and cut sheet metal, it's entirely possible to fab quite a few of the parts
>Honestly that’s the biggest reason I would consider something like a 1911
1911's are a nightmare
>Is my concern a valid issue? Or is this just an autistic way of thinking?
it's definitely an autistic way of thinking but I solve this by having doubles of guns I like, and triples of guns that I REALLY like or depend on. Usually I'll buy a full set of small parts and springs for most of the guns I have as well.
I look at guns like cars, I have a spare alternator, CV axle, set of filters, gaskets, etc. shoved in storage because I'm an extremely paranoid person
>>
>>65535723
People are already asking about it at my BassPro. I'm not saying that's representative, but you gotta understand that the average fucker is not deep in the Sig hate world.
>>
>>65536120
That’s a lot of compatibility with Gens 1-3
>I think you're fine
Thanks anon.
>1911's are a nightmare
I had no idea honestly.
>luckily glocks are constructed of bent and cut sheet metal, it's entirely possible to fab quite a few of the parts
That’s good to know. The other anon posted a link that showed compatibility among each generation. It looks like 1-3 pretty much share every part aside from backstraps (which I could care less about). So as long as Glock keeps making the Gen 3, maybe I’ll be fine. Idk how it’s gonna work out now seeing as they don’t sell new Gen 3’s to anyone aside from law enforcement now apparently. At least that’s what I understand.

You would think Ruger would be absolutely ballin’ in terms of money.
They have the best/most popular .22 rifle, .22 pistol, a highly renowned legacy bolt gun, and are pretty much the only REAL competitor to smith when it comes to revolvers. The mini-rifle series is pretty cool too but I can see how it’s probably seen significantly less sells over the last 2 decades.
If only they could get their shit together and make a good duty pistol that isn’t some poverty dingus.
>>
>>65536499
>You would think Ruger would be absolutely ballin’ in terms of money.
Ruger is my favorite American gun company but that makes them like fifth overall. I think where Ruger struggles is that they're not sexy. Sure, people love their .22LR selections but the amount of people that drool over a GP100 compared to a Python or Model 19 are quite few in number. Ruger is like the "blue-collar" gun company and when your selling point is a gun that "just works", it doesn't really stand out when everyone else's guns "just work" as well.

Ruger really should somehow lean into how overbuilt their handguns are and how they can (often) fire hotter loads than their counterparts.
>>
When I think of a Ruger "duty gun" I think of the Security 9 which is somehow the most average gun imaginable in looks and feel.

I know the 10/22 is popular but mine is ass and flung pieces of itself off into the woods when I shot it. I disliked it enough I haven't bothered to contact them about getting a new one. Pretty wood grain though

Their RXM series was a huge leap in the right direction for pistols and I hope they keep pumping out more great models. The pistol space could use another good legacy brand competitor now that sigs falling by the wayside.

>>65536499

Consider that they probably cost $80 to make and assemble, there is a ton of margin to cut down on. Even selling them for $350 instead of $500 would put it pretty front and center of the price bracket so long as they make an equally good PQQ/PDP clone as they did a gen 3 glock 19 clone.

The FN 509c can be changed from subcompact to compact to full size by inserting a 12/15/17 round mag and is perfect for folks that put talon tape on their guns or stipple them as the grip texture is probably the grippiest factory option I've seen. I've got around 16k rounds through mine without a single gun related failure and the LAPD in their testing put 20k rounds through two different examples without failure. The ergos and the recoil impulse combine to make it snap back on target much quicker than the smiths or glocks or hks or walthers I've shot allowing for faster follow up shots. The finish is also so good some guy lost his in a lake and magnet fished it back up a year or two later and the only parts that needed replaced were the barrel and a couple springs.

Other folks may like their carry guns enough to reccomend them over the FN, but do those guns do enough to justify the $150-250 price difference?

Genuinely the High Standard pistols are wonderful shooting guns if you can find one in excellent shape but they are GOD AWFUL to get parts for. My LGS has had my heirloom high standard for nearly a year now because the oem replacement parts that are available are not at all to spec. Burt's suggestion of a quality used walther, hammerli or pardini is excellent and as the other anon said you also have Volquartsen for modern high end. Ruger Mark series is a great entry point

Anons, I’m having one of those moments where it’s late at night and my thoughts are racing.
Should I get a 45 super? 10mm? Or should I just run +p+ in my Gen 2 Glock 17 and call it a day? I’ve been reading stuff on ballistics, and I just wanna make sure that IF I ever were to find myself in a self defense scenario, the less shots I put down the better, you know?
Maybe I’m just autistic. Idk.
>>
>>65537764
Autistic. Just use any of those and you'll be fine.
>>
>>65537764
I'm gonna be real with ya chief; the ballistical difference between handgun cartridges in a PRACTICAL sense relatively nil. I would spend your money on 9mm and get good with your EDC before you move on to big bore

>>65537774
So are you saying
>get good with your edc and you’ll be fine
Or
>get good with 9mm then go for a big bore
I had a 45 1911, but I got rid of it because I didn’t like 45. Personally- I love 38 special and 357 mag. Idk how close 9mm +p+ is to 357, but idk. 17 rounds of 357 sounds cool. Haha
>>
>>65537784
It depends on your financial situation, honestly. But I would build a stockpile for your main EDC and train with it and then I'd buy an AR and train with it
>>
>>65537784
Get good with your 9. You aren't fighting bears, your shot placement is far more important than caliber. You also don't need super high pressure loads. Just get your hydrashoks and call it a day

When I bought my car they were fucking desperate for a sale as I was the last car they needed sold to cross an allocation threshhold from mazda that weekend and I was the only person in the dealership left past close. They let me put the 15k downpayment on a credit card so I could get cash back on it, I was glad to have the 25k limit on my card then.

>>
>>65539562
I’d carry more but I don’t go anywhere besides the gym and work. I carry when I fish and when I’m out fishing it’s with off duty cops who are also carrying.

>>65539590
I've been walking and driving around to get more comfortable with it. I know I have a heavy DA trigger pull and my holster covering the trigger but it just feels foreign to do this. Part of my brain is spooked that I might ND even though my finger isn't on the trigger.
>>
>>65539574
I use some $20 amazon special. It's just a piece of plastic folder around a gun, mine uses the same belt clips as much more expensive holsters, came with the optional claws and whatnot, I didn't have to buy that separate. All of these companies are just buying chinese components and assembling them themselves.
>>
>>65539602

Anons, I’m sorry for being an absolute autist, but hear me out.
I was just about to order a holster for my Glock 17. Then I was like “you know what I need to get some fresh air. I’ll take my Glock with me.” Then I realized I think it’s gonna wind up being more bulky than I thought. I like the way it feels in my hands and shoots, but I don’t think conceal carrying it is such a good idea. After I add a holster plus the length of the frame, I don’t think it’s going to be a very good idea.
So instead I’m thinking about just getting a holster for the S&W 3913.

It's pretty good stuff, they do a honey cask for $25 that is much more whiskey forward and less honey than most people's stuff if you're into that. As for Hooten Young I've seen it on a shelf or two but literally never heard anyone talk about it ever, and I follow a lot of whiskey tube channels. Nice grips on the cz btw, love the look
