Anyone used Gunner's Custom Holsters before? I got them recommended and ordered a holster about 4 weeks ago. Have the paypal receipt but never got any other confirmation. Estimated order time was 12-15 business days which is fine, but it'll be day 21 starting Monday and I havent even heard an "ok its actually a bit longer" from them. I dont mind waiting but wondering if anyone else had experience with them?

I got my conceal carry license in the mail the other day. A lot of rigamarole considering I don't plan to go around armed all the time, but I mainly wanted it so I don't have to lock my shit up like I'm transporting gold bullion every time I go to the range. License waives most of the BS transport regulations.

I have one of the 50 Lipsey edition guns they did to show off that they do USPs

Trigger job (good)
Optic cut (good for a USP)

I did replace the internals with a match kit, since they used the stock trigger group instead of the match because the stock has a stronger reset. I still benefit from the polished trigger bar and other stuff from their trigger job. I would say the single action is on par with a good 1911 in my opinion, it printed one hole groups for me.

If you like your USP and want a tune up, it makes sense. The optic cut is a good IMO since it’s all in one, they give you a plate, BUIS, Cerakote, usually the irons are dead on. It’s cheaper than some of the other options for plate systems, but the USP can do direct mount which might be more sturdy and lower. LTT has a thin plate system.

>>65559279
I haven’t but contact the guy before you do to make sure he’s accepting transfers at the moment and not on vacation or something. There’s one near me that just lets people buy things at dealer + 10% mark up through him which is super cheap.

What are my options for competitive shooting with a stock 6 shot GP100?
>>
>>65559350
IDPA SSR
>>
>>65559350
steel challenge is 5 targets, I've seen people compete revolver with 7-8 shot revolvers. often clubs they let people shoot multiple guns so (you register twice) so bring another gun to make the most out of your day

IDPA has revolver division, there's other smaller local matches with rules for low capacity required

as long as it doesn't die while shooting, it seems to be one of the best optics on the market IMO for general duty use and it's price point. it's geared towards military and police contracts so it's kind of big.

A better big ACRO/COA at 400 bucks and ASSEMBLED and DESIGNED IN THE USA. Has the horsie on the side
>The horse on the Colt firearms logo is the Rampant Colt: a rearing horse breaking a spear or lance, one half in its mouth and the other across its raised forelegs.
>An unsigned note in the Connecticut State Library archives tells of a crusader’s horse rearing, seizing an enemy spear in its mouth, and breaking it to save its rider — “emblematic of the Colt — always coming to the defense of the master.” The author is unknown, and no named battle or person is attached to it. Collectors sometimes also link the mark to Alexander the Great’s horse Bucephalus.

Also my guns are so oily I have to handle them with gloves or they’ll slip out of my hands.
>>
>>65559627
the steel challenge I was doing in my home state was very chill (and competitive) with lots of handgun shooters, the one I just did kind of sucked as half the shooters are rimfire rifles (fucking fags). Before the only rimfire I saw was just used as warmup for their actual guns but these faggots think plinking steel with their .22 lr is a good use of a sunday morning, honestly they should just commit canadian healthcare

however I was in a chill squad with a old as fuck couple that shot Single Action Shooting Society so they were dressed as cowboys and shooting 1911s (wild bunch competition) to practice for their other competitions.

Steel challenge was still useful practice to me as you're trying to boil down speed shooting without any additional movement. my goal is to draw and engage the 5 targets from concealment in less than 2 seconds which is pretty fucking hard, hitting sub 3 from concealment is already an accomplishment
>>
>>65559486
I shrinkwrap mine in plastic every time I carry to prevent rusting. If I have to use it I bust through the trigger guard on the draw, I've practiced it.
>>
>>65559717
The USPSA I did CO, but with SC I want to start off with irons in Production. I just want a chill comp and compete against myself and ring some steel

>big ass stendo

its like a +3 extended plate dude, its not new tech. HK could have easily reinforced the frames but they didnt because the mk23 is a stupid feels gun and no one who has a choice buys one for operating.
>>
>>65560818
+3 of .45 though. That’s like +6 9mm in weight. I’m not watching the video though. When I dropped mine the mag broke instead of the gun but I didn’t have an aftermarket baseplate and the mags were already 18 years old when that happened.
>>
>>65560818
>HK could have easily reinforced the frames
why would they reinforce the frame for an n=1 problem caused by shitty aftermarket parts which were installed incorrectly?
the dude in the video encountered a unicorn beyond design basis problem because he was too stupid to use the detent spikes in the magazine extension, none of this is an indictment on the mk23

If you're just looking for a revolver to play around with, just get whichever you think is coolest. If you're wanting to actually shoot frequently, you gotta find someone that does reloading or else you're gonna be in the poorhouse

I have little personal experience but a buddy is loaded with spinners and I get an earful. Going by the troubles he's had I might put Ruger first and put S&W equal with Taurus with Olt in the middle. He's had more S&W problems than anything else, but because he has a ton of Colts that's #2 for quantity of problems he's dealt with, and he's a Olt fan so that may be with sugarcoating

Slides and grip frames (if applicable) from reputable manufacturers only require a "film" of oil. Rust from EDC is emblematic of thin or otherwise poor finish. Apart from weather or spills, my Glock only gets oiled when I soak it in CLP after a range trip: once per month until recently.

I thought I might sneak in to Master if I do best out of 3, but I still missed it by .59 seconds for Compact Carry Pistol or 1.12 seconds for Stock Service Pistol which is what I normally shoot. I just have to put some time into drilling reloads and I could cut that .59 seconds off before the end of the year, but it's already getting cold and windy. I've made some good progress this year, so I'm pretty happy either way.

By IDPA rules, you can do just about whatever you want with the gun for Stock Service Pistol as long as the exterior appearance isn't significantly changed. I have a Gray Guns hammer strut guide and reduced power hammer spring in my P228, fiber optic sights, and modified grips, and that still fits into SSP.

Anyway, just got back home from the range. For the anon thinking of getting a 1911-22, my father shot his for the first time, which is a polymer model with the maple grips and he loves his. We both shot about 150 rounds each, with my father shooting 100 rounds CCI Clean 22 and the rest being Eley and with me shooting 100 rounds CCI Minimag and the rest being Eley. That puts me at around 1200 rounds fired through that gun in the past year of owning it.

I will post a pic of all of these shots later, since I only used one target. About 80% of my bullets went through the bull, a further 10% in the 9 ring near the bull. Three rounds were 7 or worse. My father is a better shot, than me and he get 85% of his in the bull and nothing outside of the 8 ring. I only have a pic of my target, expect it later. Busy talking to a lady friend in the JGSDF, so I am not in any position to transfer files to my computer (phonefagging is a low that I will not stoop to kek, especially since my provider has had an ISP block by 4chan thanks to a spammer on one of the red boards).
>>
>>65561658
Also speaking of ladies I have a range story from today
>be me
>go to range with father
>father and I set up two lanes from a chinese girl in her early to mid 20s, somewhat dumpy
>set up and start shooting
>here voice from guy some lanes down
>WHAT ARE YOU DOING FINGER OUT OF THE TRIGGER AND SAFETY ON
>solly.mp3
>it is clear that she is taking a class of some sort, since there is no RSO where I shoot at, just the owner who sometimes glimpses at some CCTV monitors
>Overhear some more banter about her not being able to figure out how to get her gun in the off safe position
>FFW after shooting 80 rounds, take a short break to check in with my father and see how his new gun is holding up
>chinky is setting up a new target and has just sent it out
>turn my back for one second
>chinky shot the fucking hanger and plastic confetti is now raining down on the range
Turns out that was her third time at the range this week and the two previous times she shot the ceiling. The range owner is not happy and wants to talk with the guy giving the classes to talk to her.
>>

>>
>>65561672

>>
>>65561698
I have no clue either. Just as a rule, a lot of women suffer from overconfidence and incompetence and nothing brings that out more than guns. Out of all that girls I talk to (like for or six regularly) there is only one or two I would trust (the JGSDF girl and this Romanian girl who is the daughter of a paratrooper). Almost like exposure to guns and safe gun operations helps with being smart around them.
>>
>>65561658
Glad to hear he liked it. Didnt expect there to be a polymer version desu
>>
>>65561672
>be me
Well I would fucking hope so
>>
>>65561768
Yep and it is surprisingly chunky for a polymer handgun (it feels about the same as mine which is completely aluminum). Much heavier than the P17 I shot, but probably about the same as a TX22, with much better ergonomics. I really did not get along with the TX22 I tried last year, but it is still a solid gun and I have heard some folks on the board loving theirs (I just haven't found a Taurus product I have liked yet, ergonomically speaking, but I have yet to try their revolvers). Honestly there is little in the way of bad .22lr semiauto pistols apart from the obvious SNS or the USFA Zip meme machine. Excuse the tangent.
>>65561773
LOL figure I should just exclude it next time I have a range story, I have got one other about a separate girl from SEA and her bf and one other guy acting like retards, but I will save that for another time. Asians and shooting is a worse combination than Asians and driving, at least at the average shooting range.

Blog post

Shot two matches, one USPSA and the other a local which went about as well it could for my first times. Top 1/3 finish, but 50 fucking seconds between me and a master shooter. I’m a C/B shooter I guess, I have a lot of A zone hits but I need to do them faster or accept Cs at a faster rate. I need to come up with engagement strategies, remember them and not turn retarded as soon as the beep goes off. What I mean by engagement strategies is to choose what level of accountability I want on that target, I should be smashing close targets with max speed and then slowing down for further targets (sounds obvious) but I was laser focused on getting A zone hits every time instead of trusting the plan. I need to learn how to shoot on the move instead of static engagement locations and to move with more purpose.

At the second match one of MecGar 2011 mags follower jammed inbetween stages some how. Really regretting these 126mms and not the 140mms, it’s good practice but I have to reload much faster than others. Also Texas stars are fun and ace VR’s training is effective in my opinion, they were fun since I didn’t really have any trouble with them.

Both matches shot with an ACRO fully occluded. Only posed an issue when shooting weak hand one handed where I couldn’t find the dot so I just point shot.

Does anyone have recommendations for a 22 lr revolver to take backpacking to larp and small game hunt with?
I was thinking about a chiappa little badger at first, but figured a 3-4" revolver would still be much more packable and fun to fuck around with

>>
>>65561924
Yes. Despite never having shot a Texas star before I did very well against them and the double Texas star because I practiced them in ace VR. I have never practiced shooting a moving target in live fire. I don’t have the space to do the full run and gun with ace VR but I feel like it would also be helpful. I understand that is a bit disconnected from real shooting but I’ve been forcing target focus shooting via occluding my optic IRL and also in ace VR occluding it there. It’s kind of a cheat code for Steel Challenge since many sanctioned steel challenge stages are in Ace VR.

I’m target focused nigga, I have to be with the dot occluded. It’s so natural to look at the target and the dot is there.

there's actually nothing wrong with the stock PX4 grip, I only stippled in to see if it would improve the gun for me, it didn't really. I mean you could have just used grip tape. My issue was that going really fast I would accidently get my support hand onto the slide release and lock the slide back prematurely - getting the low profile lever fixed it.

Went shooting today with a group of friends and we all took turns trying each other's stuff. I brought my rs9x vampir, vz52, cz82, cz83, and P40L. Some guys brought their rifles and shotguns, so we had some variety. The vampir was very nice, excellent trigger in both SA and DA. Grip is a little wide, like holding onto a brick but the texturing is great and it really grips well. I shot 124 grn igman and had one malfunction, a user error overloading the magazine. All in all, a great pistol and I'm very satisfied with it.

I thought for a while that direct mount ACRO was stupid since the ACRO was the best optic on that footprint which has some downsides
>plastic battery cap (replaceable with metal ones, even a extended 2050 battery for 50% more capacity)
>torx windage adjustment
The COA has some advantages to the ACRO but the Colt MRS-1 seems to be an upgrade over the ACRO in every way.
>metal cap stock

Perhaps this is retarded of me, but at the moment the money I have outweighs my sense, so I am thinking of spending a total of $1500 on guns over the next 12 months or so, two that I need and one that I want. Split on the Bauer or a NAA revolver for the one I want, no experience with the NAA, though. If you guys have any other suggestions, I'm open.

Just wanted to ask if $1500 was too much to spend on guns in a year? This year I have shot nearly 2000 rounds across three guns, so it is not like they will be shelf queens.

His assassination was the most publicised red pill of all: neo leftists or their fellators will murder you simply for speaking and they will laugh about it.

>>65563716
His malperformance likely stems from involuntary reaction to the recoil and noise (muzzle blast). This is an issue that can persist in spite years of live or dry fire because it's psychological which is why I believe national shooting champions like Ben Stoeger instruct students to "shoot with hatred in [their] hear" i e not letting flinch or hesitation compromise your fundamentals

Is the Bauer/naa for carry or for range fun?
If carry, bauer hands down
If fun, top break naa hands down
Also 1500 is not atrocious imo. I've unwisely spent 6k+ on guns in a year and others in this thread have spent way more. Just always prioritize buying ammo/accessories for the guns you already own.
>>
>>65563852
Bauer isn't drop safe and 22mag is way better than 22lr for defense if hes carrying.
>>
>>65563852
I have like 3k rounds of .22lr and another 600-something of .32ACP, I honestly don't mind getting .25 ACP. Going to be buying a lot of 9mm in the coming year, probably 2k rounds.
>>65563814
Sort of? Baby Browning parts (including those made by PSA) will fit, with the exception of the barrel and safety spring, so it is not that bad, but the NAA has the edge on parts.
>>65563864
Bauer is a .25ACP, which does have the advantage of being centerfire. This is more just as a range toy. The other two guns are for carry (CZ75 for around the house and at the range and either a Glock 43 or PDP-F for carry). I only need to carry twice a month, but this will probably become EDC by next year.

Don't all of these hollow points do the same thing?
>>
>>65564764
From a holistically speaking perspective yes, as long as it expands. We don’t actually know for certain how they do in the human body, we test in ballistics gel which unless you get it from specific sources it won’t be calibrated. Infact most “testing” is done in clear gel which is different performance from actual calibrated FBI ballistics gel. Even then each one performs slightly differently, some of these as you can see have jackets that are designed to peal back and have this sharp claw rend flesh as it spins through the body. Hence the name “talon” for the black talon. While others just mushroom out and have less of a tearing effect on body. We notice these differences in gel, do the talons actually tear human flesh better? We don’t know.
