If you leave your gun loaded in the holster you basically are golden so long as you don't live in a very humid area. Otherwise rotate the rounds in your magazine/have the first one be a wear item that you replace once the bullet starts sitting further back in the case.

Now I am not here to cause another Sig argument and I will preface this with your results may vary, but I was thinking back to the Sig P232.

My father had one about 10-12 years ago and I shot maybe 200 rounds from it and my father shot another 500 rounds, it was a pig of a gun, or at least the .380ACP model was. Sure, slide bite is the most publicized issue, but that is honestly the least of the concerns, the gun was a jam-o-matic. There was at least one jam per magazine and it did not matter what ammo it was either a stovepipe or a bolt-over-base jam, sometimes half the time spent shooting it was clearing the jams. The P232 has to go back to Sig twice and neither time was it fixed. As it turns out the frame warps ever so slightly with usage, quite quickly and, with Sig being Sig, they made the tolerances tight but did not account for this warpage. Not to say that all Sigs are like this, but it did sour my taste on Sig.

This has nothing to do with people talking about P320s and P365s and they might be good or bad guns, however you look at them, but not everyone's experience is the same.
>>

It was sold off ~2016/2017. My father bought it because it was "le PPK but big" (this is his thought process). He is a really good shot, but he is autistic about gun purchases and lives in the past (he was 70-ish at the time of using the P232).

I can take pictures of the PPK later, if I remember.

>But muh modular trigger pack!
I don't give a shit unless the company building the gun releases a variety of grip modules on release day. And it doesn't say on their webpage if the CZ Duty mags are compatible with any other CZ design. This shit is the reason why Glock continues to do well in 2026.

>>

P-10 mags fit the Duty to my understanding. This seems like a bit of a surprise and rushed release.
CZ did say they are working with a few manufacturers for aftermarket grip modules. I expect Magpul to do something.

What’s up with the “modular” duty pistols coming out? Most departments probably aren’t going to let their people fuck with their firearms like that are they?
>>
>>65567055
It'll be armorers setting everything up. As for why, the old fogeys in charge of everything don't like anything new UNLESS that new thing is stupid as all hell, then it's mandatory. This goes for all things.
>>
>>65567055
>Most departments probably aren’t going to let their people fuck with their firearms
Your average cop knows less about their firearms than your average /hg/ lurker, let alone those of us who shoot regularly. I was in law enforcement for 15 years and worked with multiple agencies and most of these departments (even larger metropolitan and state ones) have defacto "gun guys" that everyone takes their stuff to when it needs to be cleaned or repaired. It's getting even worse now that departments are adding dots to their service weapons and officers go home and leave it on so the batteries burn out.

Modularity in handguns is a pure meme. It's as dumb as those guys who buy a gun in .40 S&W so they can get a barrel in .357 Sig "so I never have to worry about an ammo shortage"
>>
>>65567104
The more insidious problem is that cops all assume that they're "gun guys" even when they clearly aren't. They think the badge means they get that cred for free.
See it all the time at the store.
>>
>>65567042
>Cabela's but they've since gutted their used gun selection anyway
Why did this happen? ~2 years ago my local Cabela's had a huge used gun inventory that was constantly changing such that going in on any given evening was a fun little lottery to see if anything interesting popped up, and to see what else had disappeared. Now for used guns they have a couple mexican revolvers and some overpriced surp wallhangers.
Where did all the Cabela's used gun inventory go?
>>
>>65567125
gunbroker for a quick influx of cash
>>
>>65567108
Your average LEO treats their job like the rest of us treat ours. Essentially, we don't wanna have to think about it when we are not on the clock. I've dealt with hundreds of officers of all varying levels in my life and they're usually pretty chill but most of them couldn't pass the /hg/ challenges. The firearm requirements for most departments are extremely easy because they don't want to weed out any one
>>
>>65567104
>buy a gun in .40 S&W ... "so I never have to worry about an ammo shortage"
That's not unreasonable, .40 Superb & White is the last common caliber to get cleaned off the shelves. Or maybe you're just implying that it's pointless to consider because if you're worried about ammunition shortages the solution is to stack when it's available rather than panic buy when it's not.
>>
>>65567135
But they constantly had fresh used inventory, implying that people were selling a lot of used guns to Cabela's. What happened to that market? They still buy used guns. Does Cabela's have a GB account? It drives me crazy because the end of the Cabela's/BP used gun counter was the end of brick-and-mortar gun shopping for me in Albuquerque.
>>
>>65567144
I think they chuck it all in a warehouse somewhere. If you look online it lists thousands of pieces

The “LTT” is the Carry 2 from LTT so it has their trigger job. The Compact Carry and Compact Carry 2 are collaboration guns with Langdon with all of his wanted features so they’re available from Beretta or LTT, only the LTT ones have the trigger job.

I’m not sure but the CC2 used to come with the nickel plated Competition trigger group that Langdon uses as a base for his trigger job, so it was already smoother than stock and you could just get the trigger bar for 70% of the same thing but for less. Beretta stopped making the Competition Trigger Group a year or two ago.

But basically you don’t “need” the trigger job and just Langdon’s trigger bar is enough to give you the super short reset.

>Or maybe you're just implying that it's pointless to consider because if you're worried about ammunition shortages the solution is to stack when it's available rather than panic buy when it's not.
Almost all my handguns are in 9mm. I don't worry about shortages because I used the money I saved by not buying shitty guns to instead just have a huge stockpile of ammo

>>65567153
You can do the LTT one but that's pretty expensive. The Compact Carry 2 is made by Beretta and has a few upgrades from LTT. I think for your average shooter the Compact Carry 2 is your best bet and then after 10k rounds or so if there are things you want to change, go for it

Based. You remember during the covid crunch, when that Federal/CCI bigwig posted a video to tell everyone they're still producing ammo night and day? And it was all glorious 357 SIG.
>>
When you're torquing a muzzle device on a pistol barrel do you just throw the slide in a vise and call it good or do you try to get the barrel part way out of the slide so you can put a flat spot in the vise while the slide just flops around and watches?
>>
Did anyone get their Colt optic yet?
>>
>>65567249

>>65558763

>>
.357 Sig is currently roughly .50 cpr so you're essentially paying double the price for slightly different 9mm. So unless you're generationally wealthy or you reload and actually bother to save the brass, .357 Sig fans are either noshoots (aka faggots) or they make bad financial decisions (which we already knew based on their choice of gun)
>>
>>65567170

>>
>>65567247

>>65567288

>>
>>65567298

>>
>>65567298
If you are really having tremendous problems with something staying on your barrel, rocksett it and dunk it in water for four hours when you need it off
RTFM for whatever you’re installing, if it says hand tight, put it on hand tight. Most quality muzzle devices will tell you to index and use a set screw. If it doesn’t have a set screw, it’s probably a little piece of shit like those HKParts compensators that are basically thread protectors
Torquing things on to a pistol barrel will ruin something at some point, because there is no shoulder on most pistol barrels, so your torque value is coming either from biting the taper where the threads end or your crown, not stretch against the barrel shoulder because there isn’t one
>>
>>65566919
It's mainly a bunch of little ergonomic improvements that are popular on the market. Even Glock has done a lot of those with Gen 6. Does it have to be an entirely new design with each iteration?

>the barrel part way out of the slide so you can put a flat spot in the vise
That's how I did it. You could probably get away with the other option if you're gentle with it, but I can't see any reason why you would.

While >>65567317 is largely correct, my barrel did indeed have a shoulder (1/2-28 threads on a 357 SIG barrel), and I counterbored the comp to clock up when tightened against that shoulder.
The comp in question (Springer Precision) does not have a set-screw. As I recall the instructions amounted to: apply threadlocker, screw it all the way on, back off to clock it, then wait for the thread-locker to cure. But I did it my way.

Trying to keep it easy and universal, I think. Shims would work in this application, but not in others where the thread is too large to leave a significant shoulder, so they keep the same simple instructions for all versions.
And for all I know, it might work just fine; not an experiment I cared to run.

It's funny because the gun industry invented the whole "microcompact" segment of the market specifically to cater to kydextards who refuse to carry a pistol unless they can comfortably use a hard bulky Fisher Price holster to point the muzzle at their dicks.
>>
>>65568163
People seem to despise the p30 trigger. I think that’s the only complaint I ever hear about it

I think it's weird how the whole microcompact 9 market was born from the belief that a G26 or P2000sk is too thick for concealment, but at the same time, holsters have grown into these giant contraptions of sidecars, claws, wedges, pillows, and all other sorts of shit like Enema holsters. Why the need to reinvent the wheel when the market is flush with the lightest, most concealable handguns ever made?
>>
>>65568355
>holsters have grown into these giant contraptions of sidecars
Low key the holster thickness is important. Some, especially kydex holsters make guns thicker than others. I carry with a trigger guard holster sometimes without telling anyone.

Lighter, cheaper, doesn't rust (which is to say, doesn't need anti-rust finish, so cheaper again), can mold arbitrarily complex and ugly gripzones for zero marginal cost vs taking time to machine/stipple the front- and back-strap (yep, even more cheaper).
The best part is, because it's lighter, which is a benefit* to the consumer, you can sell it for the same price and they think they're getting a bargain, while you pocket all the savings.

*unless it's a competition gun, of course. But in that case, you can put tungsten powder in the plastic to make it weigh as much as steel, and charge even more for it.

My Gunner's Custom Holster order is shipping soon. I usually OWB but under a jacket because I'm a lanklet and don't wanna dress like a wigger. Anyways looking at other options on a worst case of this holster not being good. Does anyone have a holster from Parabellum CW? I like this for a more obvious range/duty holster: https://www.parabellumcw.com/products/cz-p01-level-2-retention-holster?variant=44358282379580

You can pretty much find shitty reviews for every holster maker cause plastic and plastic shipped through 120+f temperatures & baking in the sun does weird shit, so I wanted to ask what the actual consensus is? My worst problem is being left handed, and then light-specific issues alongside preferring OWB holsters [EG my P01 has a surefire xc1-b and a lleft handed holster that can take an XC1-b for a P01 is a very narrow window of models] so I am always looking for recommendations on good holsters.

Any recs for teklok type upgrades? Are there teklok options that are the same dimensional specs but made out of better plastic or plastic/metal hybrids? I definitely prefer that vs paddles that can be removed from force alone.

Hello guys, I’m here just to share my first handgun (the first one I bought myself — I still have a few left by my brother and dad).
A few years ago I went through a horrible period (I lost my job, half of my family died, and I lost my home). Many of you helped me when I had to sell some of my guns. Since then I’ve been able to get a good job at a bank, and I decided to buy something for myself.
I bought a Beretta 84BB. I paid 500 euros for it — I know I got robbed, but this is the gun I wanted. I just like the aesthetic (more than the F models and the new ones with rails).
Now the only things I still need to do are buy some chestnut grips for it and replace the small parts that have lost their color.

Thank you again for the help during that time. You guys are the best
>>
>>65569009
My condolences. I'm glad you're doing better in some aspects of life. I also love the 84BB. Feels great to hold and shoot. Beretta ftw.

Nope. It is one made in Fort Smith. My father also had a Manurhin PPK (which was issued to some police force, but I forget the country) but sold it, and then got the new one. He thought the Manurhin was more of a collecting gun whereas he wanted one for shooting and not have to worry about value. He wants a S&W J-frame next (but he is open to a LCR) and he actually doesn't mind the thought of carrying .38SPL, which is a little more reasonable than .32ACP. Again, this is an 80 year old who sometimes needs a cane, so he can't exactly carry a .45. Or at least that is what he thinks. That won't be for a little while, though, but maybe I will encourage him once I do my gun purchases.

Only newly made options are the 92x Performance/Defensive, and the 94x? 95? Whatever that one is. You can try to find an OLLLLLD one or the 92/96 Combat, those had frame safeties, but at that point you'd either pay way more than the high end modern ones, or it'd take a ton of parts replacements. No, the GTS has a decocker as far as I can tell, I dont know why half the info on it says safety and it looks like a safety but it is a frame decocker.

Crush washer would've definitely worked, at the (aesthetic) expense of a bigger gap between slide and comp.
Jam nut is a maybe. The comp's aluminum, so I'd think very carefully about how many threads are left engaged.
>>
>>65568597
>>65568836
Very early aluminum framed P1s had frame issues, but they corrected the issue by reinforcing the frame. You can tell one has a reinforced frame by the hex shaped cross pin between the takedown lever and the slide stop lever.

The first gun I put it on the RMR height BUIS were too low to even see since the skyscraper deck height DESPITE HAVING NO BOTTOM BATTERY made the deck height TALLER THAN A RMR TYPE 2. People have to sell RCR height irons instead of RMR height now. Do you know how you verify torque on the RCR? You can't use your fix it stick torque wrench. You bend one of the two supplied allen keys 30 degrees. Lose that allen? SOOL. You use that allen too many times and it's permanently bent? SOOL.

Glad it died because it couldn't handle .45 ACP recoil.

I'd take an ACRO P2, the colt optic is half the price and made just a few miles away and has a bigger window, better mounting interface, shake wake, better button placement, better in every conceivable way.
