Been reading books by the fast draw and exhibition shooters of the early part of the last century. Just finished pic related.

Takeaways:
1. Manual safeties suck
>adds time to the first shot, can be fumbled or forgotten
Pretty adamant supporter of the "pull and press" type of guns as opposed to auto's with manual and or grip safeties.
2. Double action revolvers are, and will always be, an excellent and viable option for defense.
>simplicity of use, reliability, excellent and varied load options, forgiving of fundamental errors that can cause stoppages in automatics
The biggest detriment is the lack of available rounds in the gun, and the slower re-load times for the average shooter.
3. The average shooter can pull .7's and .9's first round hits on target at defensive ranges with practice. Few will pull the .5's and quicker, as those are the exceptional shooters.
4. Close range target focused quick fire training should be conducted AFTER the shooter learns and demonstrates proficiency with sight focused slow aimed fire shooting.
5. Use of wax projectiles powered by a primer is THE way to train close range target focused quick fire.

Interesting book. He shits all over the 1911 as a defensive gun because he sees the grip and thumb safety as a burden to the shooter that can be fumbled and adds time to the first shot. He also doesn't like auto's in general due to potential stoppages caused by shitty grips made by the shooter. He doesn't like how the 1911 was designed to feed the 230gr round nose, and changing the load means potential issues with feeding due to round shape and spring issues. He cites how the 230gr round nose ammo didn't perform as well as .357 and other revolver loads. But this book was published in the early 60's, and a lot has changed.

Almost made me want to buy and carry a nice 4" .357 revolver instead of my beloved Springer full size. Almost.

When all else fails, try doing what the manual suggested.

He was a fudd before there were fudds, the fudd's fudd. Joking aside. There's absolutely literally nothing wrong with manual safeties so long as you train with them. You have to ingrain it into your subconscious through repetition to remove it. And with the 1911 of all guns, the manual safety is actually designed to be ridden with the thumb. There's literally no way to not disengage it if you're grabbing it properly. Otherwise, all his other points you listed were actually spot on.

Absolutely retarded drivel
>complains about capacity
Says a revolver is a fine defensive weapon
>complains about reload speed
Says a revolver is a fine defensive weapon

#4 is a okay point, but slow fire will build habits for slow fire, rapid fire should be introduced early one

I will literally go back in time and kill this guy in a duel with my 1911s

To be fair, the 1911s of the time had stubby thumb safeties, nothing like what we have today.

True. They also didn't have the high-grip beaver tail safeties with the bump feature to make it easy to deactivate.

Was reading Fairbairn's' book and his opinion is the exact opposite regarding auto's, but he too shits on manual safeties lol.

These cultural crashes are the best... LOL.

Remember me an episode of Solbrain, police tokusatsu from 91: jap police made robot cop and send it to America. After months, it returned home with ballistic armor, rocket launchers and a minigun. Then jap police director said: "our sense of police is different from the yankees".

MAXIMUM KEK.

I would not want to fight someone with a personal whip in their jacket. You would win that engagement.

It's a lead-shot sap. Those thongs on the side are a wrist retention strap, not parts of a flogger. You want heavier, thinner thongs and a lot more of them for a funtimes whip, a horsewhip has a much longer handle with short thongs, and a bullwhip is braided along the whole length
