if its ruger its a fucking machine chip. its always a fucking chip under the sights so you cant move them or a chip that somehow made it into the threads.

A bunch of folks online said Ruger does use Rocksett. I found out after just simply trying to unscrew it, heating it up with a torch and trying to unscrew it with a deadblow hammer. It soaked it in boiling water several times, left it in water overnight and nothing helped. In the end boiling + deadblow did the trick. It was definitely overtorqued judging by videos online. I was getting worried about fucking the barrel up.

>>
>>65603641
all you're trying to do is get water into the threads, steam just has an easier time getting in there than water. plus, heating metal makes it expand thereby assisting the hot water/steam in finding its way into the threads. i've never has to spend a lot of time removing something that was installed with rocksett and am always curious when people say they had to "boil it for hours" as that indicates being very overtorqued, or like anon said, the presence of foreign material galling the threads. heat is always a good idea if you're struggling though. even a soldering iron held to the head of a small fastener (for a few seconds) that was installed with loctite can save you a headache.
>>
>>65602436
most drop ins have set screws that take up the slop when the trigger pins are installed. this helps tension the pins in place if you're using a drop in. did you set them correctly? is it a shitty trigger??
>>
>>65603690
Ah I see.
>heating metal makes it expand
Yeah, I made good use of that when putting together my gayass solgw upper. I'll give them credit, it gets onto the barrel nut tight.

No I don't think I will (buy a Target Lock 3000 that doesn't have on board atmospherics sensors for temperature and pressure (and honestly if they were smart they would use humidity too not as a direct parameter but as a correlated variable to help correct the other readings as part of a developed calibration))
>inb4 but muh heat soak case temperature discrepancy
a) Temperature dependent muzzle velocity appears to be about half of the temperature contribution to dope so you actually don't want pure atmospheric temperature you want your temperature reading to at some level indicate the temperature of the gun/magazine itself as these are potentially closer to the temperature of the powder than the air alone is and
b) Nothing a series of thermisters/thermocouples mounted in various locations in the device couldn't solve by mapping unique temperature gradients within the device to certain external atmospheric conditions (trivial engineering problem that could be solved with enough R&D and honestly with a large enough dataset just apply a supervised multivariate regression machine learning algorithm to develop your map).

Gen 3 PVS-14. I did get to play with PVS-31s a ton recently but it just not going to be in the budget.

My brain bucket is a converted CVC but it has no issue at all with mounting NVGs and such to it. Might get a bump in addition if its dramatically more comfortable.
>>
Is riflespeed a good brand for an adjustable gas block? And what about microbest for a bcg?
>>
>>65605766
PVS31A doesn't have ocular adjustment so if you don't have perfect 18 year old vision you're SOL.

Nocturn makes a modern PVS14 housing their newer Tanto, you can also convert them to duals in future if you don't wanna drop a ton of cash at once. They are good and use CR123A, I would avoid AA based housings if possible since you're not gonna be stacking AAs likely.

Most modern housings have ocular adjustment really the only one I can think of that doesn't is the 31As Lol.
>>
KAC CRS-3 in stock at silencershop. Should I? 16oz with built in locking mount and the muzzle device only weighs 2.2oz making it fairly light for a full sized duty can all things considered. The other can I was looking at was a rhodie 6k which comes out to be a similar weight if I use rearden mount and muzzle device.

This was surprisingly helpful. Thank you. It will be a good long while before I buy, but I've saved the notes.

not even possible if your gas port is fucking goatsied, you can try whatever buffer/charging handle stuff you want but this is a bandaid, your rifle is overgassed and beating itself to death.

the solution is
>AGB
>ABCG
>tuned gas tube to your barrel length and setup like an EZtune

OR
>flow through suppressor (actual zero backpressure not a "reduced", something like a flow 556k (disgusting), Surefire RC4/mini, or B&T print

personally id go with option 2 unless you absolutely just want the quietest report possible, traditional baffle setup in 2026 is kinda wild.
>>
What’s your favorite gun oil for your suppressor guns?
I don’t do that motor oil stuff (that’s for cucks so if you try to convince me otherwise you’re basically just admitting you’re a cuck)
>>
>>65605815
I do. Thermal with no NVG is really not the ticket. I just need the actual tube and I'll be kitted.
>>
>>65605833
motor oil is great for many guns (AK's & FAL's) but will offend the machine spirit of the AR platform, those demand something more scientific. Anything that says "lab tested" or has "nano" in the name os usually safe.

>>
>>65605778
I just asked my ai about it and it seems to be a really good choice.
I was particularly wondering about its performance vs the rc4.
Basically, the kac is superior in almost every way except for back pressure which supposedly the rc4 makes some trade-offs to achieve extremely low back pressure.

Tuning a rifle for suppressors is maximum gay just take the piston pill. You want it to be able to eat any 556

Just buy a halfway decent PVS14 and if you end up finding yourself with either more money than you know what to do with or you end up using it a lot, upgrade to duals. >16oz+2.4oz = 18.4oz total system weight
>12.5oz+1.2oz+3.5=17.2oz total system weight

>300blk supers are sick. Post another cartridge that has those muzzle energy numbers from barrels that short that isn't a shotgun.
Meh, I've got a 10.5" 5.56 upper for anything above 1100fps. After all, that configuration is good enough for Uncle Sam. What's attractive about 300AAC is that it's so easily suppressable and cheap (for me).
>can reform 223/5.56 Brass (FREE at every range) to 300AAC
>uses the cheapest fast burning powders like Hodgdon Lil' Gun and it goes a long way
>uses cheap cast or copper coated projectiles
>subs work in pretty much every 36cal can, even those that say not to use on rifles, safely
>puts out energy higher than a 45ACP PCC which heavily improved range well being just as quiet if not better
Subs are just so perfect

So are 16-inchers dead now? Obviously there are plenty out there and the tooling is there for them, but are we going to finally see them die out? Will everyone switch over to a 14.5" standard like the military or will SBRs of 10.5" or less take over for most stuff with 18" and 20" builds for more precision and velocity based builds be the new reality onward?
>>
>>65606850
i got one today.
now ima need to build an SPR upper
>>
>>65606805
Yes. Excited for a second one and to do away with the cantilever strikefire (Titanfall reference) on the wannabe cqbr in one fell swoop
>>65606811
>>65606885
Nah 300 supers are fine wuggy is just prone to extremes and exaggerates the practical usefulness of that muzzle energy. If we were muzzle energy nerds we'd have 7.62x39 ar-10s or some shit.

That being said they are genuinely good. They tend to have better ballistics—or more accurately bullets with better ballistics are cheaper and easier to acquire in US commercial loads versus 7.62x39 bullets of similar ballistic characteristics—terminal ballistics that is compared to 7.62x39.

That being said the heavy drop, added weight, and lack of a real application of that extra energy is what really soured my idealism of 300 dead nigger storage. You quickly realize you're compromising on the bread and butter of your use case in a larp scenario, the supers, for like one or two mags of subsonic at first to get a CHANCE at sneaky kills in the unlikely scenario that such an opportunity presents itself.

guys, I shot the fuck out of my M16A1/2 type three-pronged flash hider last weekend by repeatedly running mag after mag with an FRT and now it developed cracks between the prongs. Is it kill? Mite just put the A2 birdcage back on there sadlife. Maybe time for Surefire muzzle devices. Picrelated the middle one with three cracks going to the bottom

Don't hate me but if you got an lpvo you could use it with a junk thermal much easier. I'm just thinking ahead for you. Or dot and magnifier.

Nah once again I think Mr A2 grippypissypoopy is right that an Elcan is better in the long run when I'm not just shooting in the trash/not larping. Once I start larping is when I think I will justify the Elcan then thermal or vice versa.

Do titanium can mounts cause sparking? Even if the can itself isn't titanium?

I've never heard of that happening.

Quite on brand for there to be a french version of the Turner Diaries that precedes it. Plot is Garbo but I got a kek out of this, especially considering it was a french author. Also surprisingly readable sometimes, so kudos to the editor

I know you didn't mean an Elcan, I was saying I would prefer an Elcan to a lpvo

Oh, yeah. I was thinking within your budget of an acog. An elcan is the only thing I would switch my acog for.

No, I have yet to experience that.

Dear anon,

Yeah absolutely. I don't think it's worth the compromise to get a lpvo just to save money if I'm shopping for a thermal is my logic. Idk because it also depends on the build, because obviously there's a ton of use cases that justify greater magnification with greater VARIABLE.

In my personal headcanon I see the Elcan being the lightest thing that technically gives the same use case. I can ramble for hours, clearly. I am wuggy2012

Best regards,
Charliquerque

Does anyone here know if a 14.5 midlength barrel with an A2 flash hider fit bayonet on it? I understand that the bayonet ring would not sit where it normally does like on a M16 or M4, but would the flash hider extend enough to allow the bayonet ring to make contact like on an AK74?

I'm only on the hook for one (1) AR-15 collage per month. I don't have the time or drive to deliver on any given Friday. It actually takes me a minute to stop resenting the sight of Averi before I choose an image to match the theme. Holiday threads are all I'm able to muster for my /arg/onauts anymore but I don't even know what's going to happen after Halloween. It might be over for me in a week or two.
