Upon catching up with Gold & Green, I must say I actually really liked it. The only characters that look the same are Piet and Levi; the others are fairly easy to tell apart, and the only imported character that is really straight is Tim. I honestly don’t understand why it has such a bad reputation around here. The writing is a lot better than the BL I usually read. The only thing I don’t understand is Levi’s purpose in the story.I like how juvenile the teenage romance is portrayed. It’s not as if any of the characters are soulmates; their relationships are just youthful fun. Also, I’m pretty sure the author is a closeted shotacon (see pic).

The trick, of course, is that a slow burn needs something else to animate its frame: usually some kind of actual plot or world-building happening in addition to characters sorting out their attraction and handling day-to-day chores. Webcomics are particularly unsuited for the premise if they don't have a real storyline because of their tendency to meander and fixate on drama that doesn't advance anything.
