Everyone is female by default, the Y chromosome tells the uterus to make testosterone which makes the reproductive bits to grow into a dick and balls and absorb the uterus, then the gonads or ovaries keep your blood topped up on sex hormones to tell your body what sex characteristics to develop through life.Interestingly, if you give women testosterone sometimes their clit inverts into a micropenis thing, which I think is a good demonstration of how sex determination works in the womb.
