Why are NBs like the way they are?

In no specific order, I feel like I very rarely see actually androgynous people identify as NB, either online or IRL.

Most men I see who identify as NB just look like whole ass men, and half the time still have a beard.

Most women who are NB still look like women, though I'll give them credit, a lot of them cut their hair short, which is still more effort then NB men.

Idk, I feel like they make a big hubbub of being "le third gender" but really just live and present as..well I don't even want to say feminine men or masculine women since they really aren't. They're guys with painted nails or women with short hair. Idk.

I feel like if you aren't satisfied with how society expects men/women to dress/act, that doesn't make you a third gender.

Ironically, I think brainwormed boymoders who take estrogen and call themselves men are closer to a true third gender/nonbinary.

Idk, what do you guys think of NBs /lgbt/?

nb boymoder supremacy
t. nb boymoder

That's weird. I was questioning whether the idea of NB rings close to me. I thought the whole thing was androgyny. I think I love and admire androgyny, and it's what I've been aiming to present as, and physically working towards, so. Would you say that makes me NB?

Yeah!

then what even is the meaning or point of the label? i'm trans because i have gender dysphoria and i am medically and socially TRANSitioning. so people are just nonbinary because they say so even though it doesn't mean anything?
>>
>>40911122
>so people are just [gender] because they say so
Isn't this what you're doing too?
>>
>>40911228
no. i never woke up one day and saud "today i will be a tranny :)" i am one because i suffer from gender dysphoria and i take cross sex hormones and am trying to become as close as possible to the opposite sex that modern science can allow
>>
>>40911236
Enbies take HRT and get surgery too lol. How does that make them any less valid with gender larping? You're just shallow and self absorbed
>>
>>40911242
>gender larping
???
>You're just shallow and self absorbed
in what way?
>>
>>40911242
>Enbies take HRT and get surgery too lol
most don't
>>
>>40911245
You said "I" five times in one post. I think that speaks for itself. It's all about me me me me me!
>>
>>40911260
right, because i'm describing my own experience in contrast with theirs, so of course i use first person pronouns. that's not self-absorbed. i don't understand nonbinary people, how they're considered trans, and i'm asking questions to try and clear that up. that isn't self absorbed. also what do you mean by "gender larping"?
>>
all gender is larp it's just up to who's gonna take it a certain way or another

Maybe you should be a little less snooty if you want people to engage with you intellectually. Nonbinary people can be cis or trans. Nonbinary people can take hormones and get surgery if they want to or not. Nonbinary people have a gender identity that you yourself will never be able to truly understand, just as it is with non-dysphoric cis people and transgenders.

it probably varies from person to person and i cant speak to the "theymab regular dude with painted nails" stuff but there is no objective solid reason as to why i consider myself nonbinary or why anyone else would see me as such. i do most of the same shit you do, im on estrogen & laser, i don't know whether i have "female socialisation" but most of my friends are women and i feel like the way people treat me in society is as a woman. i'm sure a trans woman could live exactly the way i do and it wouldnt be incongruous at all. i just didnt feel like calling myself a woman when i set out transitioning was exactly right and i still don't think it's necessary, it's not like i actively decided "i'm not a woman i'm this quirkier other thing" but even when i approximate living & presenting like a woman i just don't feel the need to claim the title, yknow. it just feels like an extra step after deciding i'm not my agab and if i don't really want to take it then why should i when im comfortable enough in limbo
i would imagine im not alone in thinking like this but i dont know whether other nbs on this board share this opinion. its a broad label by design and it doesnt really matter imo

>Nonbinary people can be cis or trans
what's the difference?
>Nonbinary people have a gender identity that you yourself will never be able to truly understand, just as it is with non-dysphoric cis people and transgenders.
but trans people and cis people have the same genders
>>
>>40911297
>Maybe you should be a little less snooty if you want people to engage with you
you're the one who started being snooty and insulting me?
>nonbinary people can be cis or trans
how can you be nonbinary and cis (identifies with their assigned gender at birth - therefore binary)
>just as it is with non-dysphoric cis people and transgenders.
as a trans woman i have the same gender as a cis woman. that's the whole point
>>40911302
okay, that makes a little more sense to me, thanks. i think i see that nonbinary people have a completely different concept of what gender even is to me. like... what would you say "gender" is?
>>
>>40911302
>i do most of the same shit you do, im on estrogen & laser, i don't know whether i have "female socialisation" but most of my friends are women and i feel like the way people treat me in society is as a woman
same to everything except the estrogen thing (though i am considering it)
it's interesting how this kind of experience is more shared than i thought
>>40911297
>This guy knows what's up.
heheh *chuuni-smug pose*
but srsly tho
I was honestly surprised at how I suddenly understood the enby experience. I think it gets at an interesting understanding of perspective and that gender is never truly binary, it's like, you know, proposing that a Platonic form can actually manifest as such wholesale. Which it can't, because of what it is. Gender metaphysics? Am I too kooky?
Then again, most people cosplay their gender hard enough that they transparently believe it theirs, right? That's an universal concept that goes beyond gender. But the psyche isn't gendered.

nta but bye youve kinda been a dick this whole time, i think you were misreading the emotions they were conveying

>>40911341
you're replying to two different people, and you're coming off as very abrasive, defensive and tryhard

>>40911350
Excuse me for being irritated with the constant mudslide of enby hate on this board. I'm tired and cranky
>>40911358
Twaz but a mistake on my end.

i dont think its hate, just curiosity

I have autism so sometimes I take things the wrong way. I am just so sick and tired of having to explain it over and over again with nothing but pushback every. Single. Time
