Race doesn't matter but the majority of people are operating by tribalism (the closer you are genetically to me the more I like you) and will discriminate you due to your race. This benefits you when your race is the majority and threatens to make your life more difficult when you're the minority. Right now you can just go walk around almost anywhere in the US - even like smaller mid-sized cities in Ohio - and see how much smaller the ratio of white people is, it's especially obvious if you're older and have lived a few decades, there are just way fewer white people almost everywhere. Whites are very anxious about this, but seem to be adamant against having more children to reverse it. Other races are also very anxious about this as they will now become more of the majority for the first time, it's a big opportunity moment for them.
