Been avoiding social media the last few days and reading Katabasis by R.F Kuang and I can't stop thinking about later parts of the book.The main character, Alice, studying at Cambridge, at a certain point, is essentially abused and groomed by her proffessor. She consequently blames her attire, her attitude, as she wants to be respected as a Scholar and as A Woman. So she dresses in a pretty but professional manner - which she still views as her being a slut. However, due to perpetual misogyny within academia, she is scandalized because to be a woman wanting power tends to be seen as sexual. And I mean its true from my experiences, from my SA, where men i respected, i looked up to did, and ones who I managed to avoid shunned me out of work.(っ´ω｀)っHow does one, in society as it stands, gain respect while tending to be denigrated as a consequence of gender?Like with the other women in my career field, the same thing happens. Any woman who expresses too mucj femininity is ostracized.
