Is there any fiction/movies/anime/tv shows/games/whatever that offer any kind of escapist fantasy coping mechanism for us troons? Obviously this is excluding stuff that's just meant to be pure fetish material. Mostly interested in written stuff. Been trying to find something that does this for awhile. It doesn't even necessarily have to be trans related. As it could be just something about wanting to be something other than what you are. I feel like envy is a really important theme to trannydom. Also never played game in pic, is it good?

Game on pic is unpleasant by design because it puts you in a mind of a very mentally ill girl. If you want a girl simulator, I strongly suggest you play the original Life is Strange.

Eh. I played part of that years and years ago. It was okay. Honestly not what I had in mind though.

I feel like a good escapism is very personal. You cant just adopt my escapism it has to speak to you personally

Yeah retreating further and further away from reality sounds healthy and definitely won’t end in suicide as your inner world becomes more and more incompatible with external reality

I agree and disagree. I think a good piece of art can have a variety of experiences projected onto it. I think a good example is the movie Synecdoche, New York. That's not an escapist film, but it's also not one about being transgender. Yet I related to it a lot. There was a constant sense of confusion around the identity of the protagonist, and a very deliberate attempt by the movie to fixate on his aging and neuroticism. Stuff like the ambiguity of his sexuality, his assumption of the role of a woman at the end of the movie, and other stuff felt deeply personal. Yet, I don't think any of it was meant for me in particular. A person like me perhaps. But obviously it should be personal yes/. That's why I'm most interested in books here. I feel the written word is the most personal, whereas say video games I believe are almost incapable of delivering this type of highly interpersonal story telling. Disco Elysium might be an exception. I need to play that.

I don't have delusional qualities to my personality unfortunately. Escapism is actually quite hard for me. Regardless I would never commit suicide.

there's some good HDG stuff which avoids being just smut. No Gods No Masters and HDG1999 by Kanagen and Divaricated by anabool stand out. theyre some of my favourite sci-fi because they explore the setting rather than just being fetish stuff like the depressing majority of hdg
