Almost all modern Trans would have been Pro-Ana skater boys crying to Ana's Song (Open Fire) instead if it was the 1990s. Modern "Gender dysphoria" is just the latest social contagion take on what is in reality generalised body dysphoria relating to ADHD, Autism, BPD, Bipolar, Depression etc. In 10 years time BIID will probably be the next big thing if the massive surge of Spoonies in LGBT spaces is any indicator.

The true goal of transgenderism is to erase and sterilize gay people.
India is a glorious country full of incredible joyful people. America is the poopoo land
>>41136287BIID-haver here. There has unironically been a surge in people in BIID spaces claiming to have the condition that are very obviously influenced by media (i.e., porn) and who present different than classical BIID. Tons of teens and young adults are saying they have BIID and say they want to be quad amputees, which is historically a rare BIID desire, but one increasingly common due to fetishization and quad porn like you see on /d/. Otherwise you would not believe how many people cite fucking Katawa Shoujo as the source of their BIID, where they want the exact same disability as Rin Tezuka or Ibarazaki Emi. Oh, and this new generation of people claiming to have BIID also all have DID for some reason (and are trans and autistic, but that was the case for a long time already, lol).
>>41137350they are still mentally ill even if they present differently than what you are used to
nigga literally no boys were into pro-ana shit except the absolutely zestiest bullied twink fags, that was purely a teen girl phenomena. white bois were naturally skinny because mum made meat and three veg for every single dinner and we only got fastfood on saturday and never ever got the mr beast 6gorrilian callories caffeinated pegnog energy drink
>>41137362I mean yeah, anyone saying they want to cut off their leg is mentally ill (me included) regardless of the specifics. It's just that if something is caused by social pressures rather than biological factors, that means it is much more easily preventable, and BIID is a condition that I would prefer if less people had on the basis of reducing human suffering (it's like being trans but worse in every way except it not being a big political talking point). I feel the same way about trans people who got social contagioned (or any instance of socially-influenced or acquired mental illness, really). It is genuine mental illness, same as anything else, but something that is more easily preventable, and so efforts should be taken to focus on figuring out how to lessen these socially-acquired mental illnesses.
>>41137424>It's just that if something is caused by social pressures rather than biological factors, that means it is much more easily preventable,A big unfounded assumption. Doctors' interventions in anatomy and biology seem to be more advanced than anyone's ability to predictably control social factors. People who blame society just want to imagine that whatever problem could be easily solved but ask them to provide a social program to solve it and it's usually just censorship/repression, which has many side-effects and few benefits.
>>41137350Can I use this post to go off about DID havers
>>4113740320% of Anorexics were Men.In alt rock and such spaces tonnes of boys were pro-ana. Bunch of the 27 club are them.

>>41137473I'll admit this is largely unfounded, but BIID is a condition where all research done has shown no effective means of treatment beyond realizing whatever desire someone has (i.e., amputating a limb or whatever). Whereas in the case of being trans, transitioning doesn't really represent any large harm to the person in question, amputating a limb does present a notable harm to the individual undergoing the treatment such that I think an alternate avenue of treatment is preferred. Since no other treatment has been deemed effective, though, that leaves trying to prevent the condition at the source. Large social programs dedicated to "solving" mental illness are stupid as you said, but with BIID there are very specific triggers that cause someone to develop the condition when they otherwise so the preventative measures would amount to... parents making sure their kids don't watch amputee porn. This would not stop all cases of BIID, nor even all "socially caused" ones, but if some simple steps on the part of parents can help people not develop the condition as often, I think that's a good thing. The root of the problem of these "social contagions" is largely social media (which is something that has been proven in studies), but per your point there is no effective "plan" I can imagine at any scale that would work to actually reasonably address this issue. So to me the solution amounts to parents doing their best at an individual level to ensure their children properly socialize and don't get brainwormed by niche internet communities into gaining more mental illnesses than they already have.>>41137493Sure.
>>41136287Many modern LGBT people online lack theory of mind.>i'm a tranny and i like/dislike this so no other tranny could dislike/like this>you're not really a tranny, you're just gay/bisexual/perverted>you're not really gay/bisexual/perverted, you're actually a repressing tranny>nobody is actually attracted to X>everybody is actually attracted to X>everybody is bisexual>everybody is monosexualEtc.
>>41137559I have not been diagnosed with DID but I do have diagnoses related to dissociation. Its something I manage, its whatever. There was a period of time where my symptoms were unmanaged and I didn't fully understand them. It felt like losing my mind. I'd have periods of time where it was like I was not even there, or the world around me was fuzzy and distant. I'd have chunks of time I couldn't remember what I was doing, even. How I felt or what I thought in the past would be impossible for me to recall fully. Sometimes this could be quite sudden and I'd lose the ability to feel a certain way almost at the drop of a hat, in response to a trigger. And if that happened I might be unable to recall originally feeling that way at all. It was maddening until I understood what was happening to me. I eventually looked for some support in online spaces where people spoke about similar experiences. What I found was a 'community' of people telling me this must be DID. That the only way to narrativize these experiences was that I am very literally multiple selves in one body. I do not doubt many of these people have experiences similar to mine, but it upsets and frustrates me that we are pressured to accept such a framing of these experiences. I disagree with even how these narratives frame the idea of a 'self', and now you are telling me that I'm doing some sort of ableism if I am critical that you are very literally several people in one body? The moralising of it all drives me crazy. And for a while it made me seriously buy into this framing and I was being made to apply this framing to myself. I never bought into it, never claimed DID. But the people I sought support from wanted me to buy into that. It made me more mentally ill for a while.Don't even get me started on how those spaces are full of people with experiences entirely different to mine, using this framing to justify why imagining they share a brain with goku is legitimate and needs to be respected
>>41136287Yup, "Gender dysphoria" is a contemporary culture-bound syndrome confined to the Anglosphere, it won't be around forever. In the meantime, remember: Never Troon.
