Ok so think about it along the lines of gun rights.
It would be nice if there was no threat of tyranny and we could live in a world without need for weapons.
But we haven't found a way to solve tyranny, so instead we have the 2a.

Same thing with gender abolition, it would be great if we moved past the gender binary, but in the mean time we have this social role that provides utility, thus transitions occur.
Right now it's the best solution we have, and in a way it is a direct challenge to the gender binary.

Speaking practically for individuals, late transitioners are learning how to be women at a weird point in their life, it's not unusual for a pre pubescent girl to do hyper feminine girly things: pink everything, figuring out clothing, makeup, and the other million traits that go along.

It's just cringe to see someone working out where the edges are as a grown ass adult, sadly they didn't have the luxury of getting through that cringe phase at 10-15 like the rest of us.
