It's quite alarming how prevalent and accepted transphobia is. Go visit any thread or post about trans people and you'll find at least one knucklehead spouting the same bigoted vitriol. You don't see this kind of bigotry toward LGB people, people of color, or other minorities. Imagine for example that you're a fan of the rock band Queen and are just looking for chill talks about them. You find a neat post about their music and scroll through the comments. All of a sudden you see a post saying verbatim: "Freddy was a raging faggot and being gay is a mental illness! He's in hell right now!". Or you're browsing a conversation about Michael Jordan and someone says "He should have gone back to Africa!", or a discussion about Jewish people and someone says "They're all hook-nosed schemers!" Sure, you may see something like that every once in a while, but it is very uncommon, if not outright rare on public platforms like Facebook and X. On the contrary, you see all these backhanded comments about trans people ALL the time. You have a bunch of bad faith actors who try to paint trans people as dangerous predators and/or fetishists in order to exclude them from society. And a bunch of people who try to invalidate the identity of people just trying to lives their lives like everyone else. Are we simply still in the "growing pains" stage of acceptance with trans people like with other minorities beforehand? Why does there need to be this tribalistic us vs. them mentality? Why can't we all just get along?

The right lost on a lot of cultural issues: race, religion, women's rights and LGB acceptance. But the movements they lost against weren't holistic, humanist movements. So they lost a bunch with the trans issue largely untouched. It would be wrong to say trans rights are THE last stand. On the one hand, they also fought hard against abortion and on the the other, if they lose on trans rights they'll love on something else. But trans rights are more unique in the sense that people were culturally educated not to be bigoted against, for example, blacks or women or Jews but not trans people. So trans people remained as acceptable targets. But chuds also need people to get used to thinking in a bigoted way to eventually achieve their goals related to race, religion, etc.

There were said to be several in every village. They temporarily dropped off the records for several hundred years due to forcible Catholic conversion and threat of death if they didn't hide.I came out twenty years ago and when I came out, there were plenty of trans and nonbinary people in my area who'd come out decades before me. the timeline of self-discovery and transition looked different, but there were still plenty of us. Adopting, fostering, or surrogacy is out of sight for many. and even if it wasn't, sometimes it's not a good fit. I dealt with a metric ton of dysphoria so bad I thought I was going to kill myself while I was pregnant. But my kid was worth it. I'm putting bottom surgery back on my bucket list though.
