Do people blame things on your trans hormones randomly?
>>
Basically every visit to a doctor results in them asking emphatically if I'm depressed, and I have no idea where they get that from, like they assume trans people must be depressed or something and I literally have never. Most days, from outward demeanor, it should be apparent that I'm bubbly, but they ask anyway. It's weird. Nobody irl ever asks me that, only doctors.
>>
>>41483636
its probably a really common comorbidity so maybe they are trained to always ask that
>>
>>41483658
It's still bad medical practice unless the patient's symptoms and presentation are more easily explained by it.

I had a general practitioner do that once. I've had heat flashes since I was 14 and I didn't start estrogen until my mid 20s. I told my doctor this and she blamed my hormones and said she might need to take me off hormones, despite not being my Endocrinologists. I told her about my heat flashes before I went on hormones but apparently she forgot. I don't know if she ever made an attempt to take me off hormones or just forgot about it because I never heard anything about it again. Although I never went back to her.

yes
i had indigestion because i ate a bunch of unhealthy shit for too long and my dad said it was "because those hormones are destroying your body"
then another time i was hungover the morning after a party and threw up and he sat me down for a talk about how the hormones are killing me and that research is coming out from conservative sources that the hormones are killing me or something
shit is mad annoying
>>
>>41483807
In fairness to your dad, digestion issues actually is one of those things that could be estrogen related, broken clock kind of thing.

doctors are so dumb , i hate how ppl treat them like somesort of holy grail here like an op when theyre given way too much power and abuse it all the time
>>
thankfully ive never had that happen so far. i live in a civilized nordic country where doctors are expected to do actual medicine instead of pulling shit out of their ass so the risk is lower
>>
>>41483575
i went to see a psychiatrist about testing me for ADHD, and she said that yeah i'd probably qualify for a diagnosis but she doesn't want to investigate it further because I'm transitioning and "that might have something to do with it".
And then some years later I saw another doctor and did the tests and got diagnosed.
>>

people r just more scared of the idea that the only thing separating them from the person who can give them any drug or diagnosis and who can tell them what’s healthy and unhealthy is just a bit of knowledge. it’s easier to mentally separate doctors into a different category and imagine their degree gives them some special authority on truth that allows them to better wield their power
now yeah it does take a lot to be able to be an actual doctor to lots of people. but in reality to treat any one individual person (ie yourself) all the information your doctor uses could be gained within a couple of weeks or less
>>

TRVKE. Doctors are just fine for ~90% of stuff but the instant they encounter anything out of the ordinary they turn into arrogant bedshitting morons

Trannies are in the 10%
>>
>>41483575
Every time I get sick my dad always blames the chemicals I am putting in my body. He says it's unnatural and that he knew this would happen.
>>
>>41484733
>instead of pulling shit out of their ass so the risk is lower
Nordic doctors tend to be more conservative with treatment actually, not that that's necessarily a bad thing since cost-benefit analysis is supposed to be a part of the job.
>>
>>41483636
I get asked irl like people around me if I’m depressed
>>
>>41483636
if you aren't depressed why did you transition? are you fake trans?
>>
>>41483575
My primary care is helping me manage one chronic health condition. Somehow my hormones have been blamed for two.
Literally my hormones were cited as a cause for a problem I wasn't happening (spurious mildly abnormal bloodwork result).
>>41483748
I live in fear of shit like this. Let's try withdrawing the medicine keeping you sane that definitely didn't cause this so taking it away won't help anyway (and with hot flashes might literally make them worse).
>>
>>41483575
yeah lol i stopped offhandedly mentioning to my dad when i get into an argument with a friend (maybe happens like a couple times a year im not a total bitch) because he’d immediately ask are you sure its not your female hormones
>>
>>41486354
>if you aren't depressed why did you transition? are you fake trans?
Incongruence does not equal depression. Also I felt cured after surgery, more or less.
>>
All these posts about people experiencing side effects and doctors urging them to get off their hormones has me wondering, is the Heritage Foundation poisoning the hormones? WTF is going on? This is why subs shouldn't think
>>
>>41487252
No, see what's happening is people are genuinely trans, and everyone wants to find any other explanation, but we persist despite the pressure to conform.
Nobody wants to accept this is the truthful story of our lives for some reason, and look for any other explanation they can possibly invent.

Non trans HRT user here, transfems are experiencing side effects from spironolactone more so than any other blocker, and yet it's considered the default option in America. It's also a diuretic, which is a great way to make the whole public washroom debate more inflamed when transwomen are entering the women's bathroom more frequently than ciswomen.

The next one's a bit of a reach, but it also doesn't block T very well, while increasing anxiety and depression. It makes me wonder if transwomen would be less sensitive about certain public debate issues if they were actually given proper hormones. At the very least, it's strange to me that so much of the publicly visible debate about transgender people has so little to do with material healthcare needs and so much to do with culture.

>strange to me that so much of the publicly visible debate about transgender people has so little to do with...
These things are shaped intentionally by people with an interest.
>>
>>41487760
The trans debate is shaped overwhelmingly by cis people who don't understand trans people's healthcare needs on any level. Even supportive people have a bad habit of thinking we're basically ultra-committed drag queens. They frequently either dramatically over-estimate or dramatically under-estimate the effects of hormones, and quite a few people are surprised to learn we don't just take them for a few years and then stop when we're "done."

The closest I ever got to this was
>get moderately depressed and neckbeard-nesty because of Covid lockdowns and career stuff, years after transition
>previously reluctantly supportive family instantly concludes the “honeymoon” has worn off and become such rabid antis out of absolutely nowhere that I had to cut them out of my life
Genuinely the worst betrayal I’ve ever experienced and I will never trust again.

i got told my stomach issues were because of my testosterone blocker and to stop taking them.

switched injections to do mono e, and i still had stomach problems. it turns out i have a gluten intolerance, and the doctor was a fucking dumb ass.
