Given that women commit insanely less crime than men, considering how trans women were once men, and were socialized as men, and a lot of people didn’t transition till they got to prison, and their statistical rates of many things resemble a mix of both women and men, trans women have a higher likelihood of committing crimes than a cis women. This goes both ways. Trans men have a lower likelihood of committing crimes compared to cis men. When you consider that trans people are .2 percent of the OVERALL prison population, the statistic actually sort of makes sense, especially when you factor out prostitution and sex work, higher poverty levels, and cismen prisoners identifying as trans to get certain benefits. Trans women are women, but it is a statistical fact that trans people’s statistics tend to be a mix but tend to statistically trend similar to their sex assigned at birth. This isn’t even to bring up the bias of the surveys they cite, asking about “men in women’s prisons.” The truth is that overall, trans people are equivalently shared in the prison population with cis people. So, no, trans people do not commit crimes at higher levels than cis people.
